Welcome to the farmhouse! Your hosts describe life on this 26 acre farm as living in a calendar. It is a scenic, relaxing location that has left many a guest coming back for more.

This 1930's farmhouse has been renovated to reflect the full beauty of this rustic home and decorated in a breezy french farmhouse manner. This 3 bedroom, 1000 square foot, art filled home is light and airy with comfortable furniture to encourage laughter and conversation. This fully separate home is yours to enjoy.

The chef's kitchen is ready for you to take on your culinary experiments as you bring home tasty locally grown treats to experiment with complete with everything you might need including a convection oven and dishwasher.

The bookshelves are filled with books and games making sure you have plenty of ways to entertain yourself and unwind or play Bocce outside on the vast lawns.

From here you can explore the whole valley and all the foodie, outdoor or beach delights it has to offer. It is a central yet rural location: not so far from city amenities without having to be stuck in a city.

You are a mere 950 meters from Kitty Coleman Beach and Provincial Park, a beautiful walk down the road to this scenic water location, 20 minute bike ride from Seal Bay Park or a quick drive to Miracle Beach. Or stay on the farm, walk to the creek and sit on a bench under the old maple tree, visit with the donkeys or perhaps the lavender gardens for some 'aromatherapy'. This place has it all for you!

Your hosts are onsite in a second home with a field and barn separating you. They are there if you need them but have lots of privacy.

We appreciate your interest in our vacation getaway. Your booking goes to support the agricultural endeavors on this farm.

About Mariette J Sluyter

Your hosts Brian and Mariette bought the farm in the 8th year of a 5 year plan. They made it out to a place where the climate is better and the growing season longer so that they could grow organic food for their neighbors and community and connect more closely to the rhythm of life.

Mariette J Sluyter purchased this farmhouse in 2014

Why Mariette J Sluyter chose Comox Valley

The 26 acre farm was lovingly built and cared for by the original owners and it was evident when the couple saw it. A beautiful barn, two fantastic houses, fences and outbuildings so well maintained they worried they might not be able to do as well.

But the place because a must have when they walked down through the pasture to the creek and found themselves in 8 acres of beautiful rain forest.

What makes this farmhouse unique

This relaxing space has everything, forest, fields, lots of sunlight, beach location but yet privacy. Every guest we have had thus far has said the same thing 'I have never had such a relaxing vacation'. The nights are filled with stars because of the lack of light pollution, the mornings are filled with the chirping of birds or the barking of seal lions because of the lack of noise pollution. The water is spring fed from wells on the property and tastes like water should. When in season the raspberry bushes provide a deliciousness, the garden provides bounty and the lavender provides a calming scent throughout the farmhouse. Oh and donkeys, three of them!

Guestbook comments from the owner

Whether you're looking for a bit of quiet alone time, a romantic twosome getaway, or a fun family romp (on a working farm! close to the beach!), you'd be hard pressed to find a better vacation rental than this place. Even in frosty November the beauty of the farm was evident, I can only imagine how spectacular it is in the glory of spring and summer. And Mariette has set up the farmhouse with incredible attention to detail, no creature comforts have been missed. Say hi to the donkeys for me. (via TripAdvisor)

Tranquility, beauty and an instant feeling of home...

  • 5 of 5

Our stay from Boxing Day to New Years was extraordinary. It was clear to us immediately that Marrette and Brian have thought of everything when setting up this home away from home. We noticed the lovely welcoming touches first and then we were pleased to see that certain condiments that we had forgotten were stocked as well as lovely fragrant lavender spray as well as Epsom, lavender salts for those sore post skiing legs! We enjoyed cozy fires in the stove and gathered in the living room around board games; it was a homely scene filled with warmth, contentment and much laughter. The beds and linens are cozy with down pillows to sink into and cozy robes after said lavender bath! Between skiing blissful powder this week and blissful sleeps, our adult family has many golden moments this week on which to reflect! We enjoyed meeting the "gals" and feeding the donkeys and our pup loved being able to leap and run in the fenced in green-space. Mariette even walked over one evening with onions for my "hutspot" so I wouldn't have to venture back out to the store. A blissful week confirming all that I love about people and places in Comox! Thank you so much; we will be back!

Beautiful place and lovely host

A home away from home with amenties: fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, cable, wifi worked perfectly. Beds were superbly comfortable. Wonderful touches of handmade soap, homemade bread and fresh eggs. Fenced yard for our two dogs. Mariette provided a warm welcome to us.

A warm, comfy retreat surrounded by natural beauty!

  • 5 of 5

My (new!) husband and I recently spent a week at Mariette and Brian's farmhouse for our honeymoon and it could not have been a more perfect spot or a more perfect stay after the busy-ness of prepping and celebrating our wedding. The impeccably clean, private farmhouse has been lovingly furnished and fitted out with a fully (and I mean FULLY) stocked kitchen, comfy-cozy beds and exquisite art. The surrounding farm - just outside the door - is green, lush and stunning, and a quick 15 minute walk took us to Kitty Coleman Beach Provincial Park where we hugged trees within view of the Straight of Georgia. We loaded up on groceries in town (many stores to choose from) and ate at some fantastic spots that M&B recommended. The area is a foodie heaven - breweries, farm-to-table restaurants - where we also discovered incredible local art and artists. I obviously can't say enough good things about our stay - it was truly one of the best vacations I've ever had. My husband and I got the retreat-like peace, quiet and natural beauty we craved - but were able to set out on daily adventures to surrounding towns whenever we liked. We can't wait to return!

A wonderful refuge!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here as it was next door to our daughters wedding venue. Her inlaws stayed with us with us too. It is just lovely. The Farmhouse is fully stocked, with all amenities, spotless and comfortable. The decor is totally charming. The vistas are bucolic. The Farms lavender products are heavenly. The welcome baskets for hoomans and dogs were special too!

We highly recommend this location for a stay in the country. A working farm with fine hosts, Mariette and Brian, makes a wonderful vacation .

BC is home to over 187 species of butterflies, more than any other province in Canada, and with all the fertile soils and committed gardeners you are sure to see your share.

Oh but wait, perhaps butterflies aren't your thing… how about wine? Vancouver Island, and the Comox Valley have a burgeoning wine industry, so why not take a wine or meadery tour? Perhaps go for a sail, rent a bike, hit a golf course or visit a museum, gallery or two.

There are so many festivals to take in; The Filberg, Sandcastle Festival, Campbell River Shoreline Arts Festival and so much more. And after all that activity, you don’t want to miss going to one of the many spa’s, we recommend the Hydropath. Of course you will want to do some shopping, make sure you take some chocolate and pastries home to The Farmhouse for later.

Finish it up with wine and award winning cheese from some of the Valley’s finest producers at home on the deck, watching the sun change to stars in this peaceful, light pollution free location.
