Peaceful Cabin on the Cove

Bedrooms 2
Space 900 sq. ft.
Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

South Puget Sound - A Warm Saltwater Lake and Beachfront in One!

Big windows with awesome views – a great place to relax on the deck and watch the birds. The unique saltwater lake is swimable in the summer; it's a closed cove with no tidal action, with private dock, and a beachfront on Case Inlet a short walk away.

Wake to otters playing on the dock. Watch the resident ducks paddle & herons swoop. Watching the birds on the ever-changing colors and reflections of the water can be an all-afternoon meditation. Take the canoe over to the berm that forms the only warm, swim-able salt water lake on the sound. Walk the beach at sunset to watch the spectacular colors over the Olympics; s'mores around the fire later; bliss.

Guest will have access to the private dock, canoe and 2 SUPs, and the Cove Association private beach. Joemma Beach State Park, with some short trails, a marina, and a pier for fishing is walking distance. The beach is wonderful for walking, and picnicking, and is located on the quiet Case Inlet – perfect for kayaking. Tacoma is 45 minutes away for wonderful museum destinations, The Glass Museum, Lemay Car Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, and the Washington State History Museum. There is a golf course ½ hour away, and a winery down the road. There are many other adventures nearby, Penrose State Park and Lakebay Marina are on the East side of the Key Peninsula. The cabin is a 1 ½ hour drive from Seattle.

Cabin has two small bedrooms, one with a double bed, and one with bunk beds (the lower bunk is a double and the upper a twin) and an open loft upstairs that has a double bed. It has one full bathroom. It is a cozy cabin and suited for up to 6 people maximum.

Perfect for a ladies group getaway weekend. Contact the owner about the possibility of adding a guided arts or crafts activity to your weekend.

The cabin is located near YMCA Camp Coleman, it would be a perfect place for parents to stay while their child is at camp ... or if you were a camper and remember those idyllic days on Whiteman Cove, you can re-live them at the cabin.

Please contact the owner for available dates, the calendar is not always in sync. Thank you!

The neighborhood is way out-of-the-way, rural, small, and private. There are infrequent and distant neighbor noises consistent with an unincorporated rural setting. There is no public transportation to the cabin so a car is required. Guests are expected to keep the place tidy, keep the boat and SUPs tied up, and no large groups or loud parties. Quiet on the deck after 10 PM. Other amenities: Large deck with dining table, chairs and umbrella. Fire pit and chairs. Canoe, life vests. NOTE: There is NO wi-fi, cable, TV, or land-line, however, smart phones usually work great. There is a portable A/C unit, a ceiling fan and other fans.

Better than I expected.

We stayed for a weekend during the heat in August. The cabin and lake area were delightful. The owner has a canoe and two paddle boards plus the things we brought. If you like to play in the water, it's a great place. Nice dock. The water is salt but very like a lake. We saw plenty of wildlife. Seemed that we almost had the lake to ourselves. As far as the cabin, there is a nice kitchen and bath. Beautiful picture windows and a great deck. Very, very nice on a summer weekend. Sarah was very helpful during our stay with tips and concern for our comfort. There seem to be other things to do but we stayed pretty close to the water.

The property was beautiful! There are so many outdoor options...the river, deck, and fire pit.

We had a fantastic four day experience. All five of us women graduated from high school together in 1979 and haven't had time to do this until now. So much great food, drink, laughter, canoe rides, sunsets and recreation! We loved the special touches that Sarah provided to make us feel welcome. The home itself has everything you need and is so charming. We loved all of Sarah's artwork. Next time we come we hope to have an art class with Sarah. All of us want to return again! Thank you for providing us with this wonderful experience!

Happy Grandma

  • 5 of 5

Our famiy of 6 (parents, children, and grandchildren) spent 5 wonderful days

at the Cabin on the Cove. We enjoyed a lovely, peaceful holiday canoeing and swimming, riding on the the Stand-up-Paddleboards, hiking, and collecting shells and blackberries on our hikes on the beach and in the National Park. On several evenings, we had cozy outdoor fires in the fire pit. The property was quiet and relaxing, and the cabin was lovely. There were three bedrooms, a convenient kitchen fully equipped, and large windows in the A-frame structure which let in lots of light. In addition to the outdoor activities, there were quiet games to occupy the children indoors. The cottage was beautifully decorated with lovely artistic touches in every room.

For all three generations, it was a very special holiday.

Beautiful light-filled cabin on the water, perfect for a weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

I had a lovely time at Sarah's cabin. The cabin had beautiful windows looking out to the lake and we loved taking the standing paddle boards and canoe out on the super calm water - especially nice in the late afternoon. There were just two of us, but the house was plenty spacious with two rooms and a loft, it could easily fit 4-6ppl comfortably. Lovely deck as well. Sarah provided us with all the details on how to get there beforehand and the cabin had plenty of info, so we didn't need to contact her during our stay. Just a heads up, it does take 2 weeks to get your deposit back from vrbo. Wish we could have stayed longer!

Great relaxing place!

  • 5 of 5

My spouse and I stayed at Sarah's place for 5 days and it was just what we needed. Originally, I was a little worried about not having TV or Wifi. But ultimately, it was exactly what we needed! The deck was amazing; the perfect place to watch the sun rise and set - and the bird life is amazing. The house had everything as advertised and met all our needs. It was well decorated and very clean and tidy. Sarah was easy to communicate with and accommodating all along the way. We are already thinking about when to book her place next summer.

Awesome Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin for a week for vacation to do a little exploring of the Pacific Northwest and absolutely loved it. It is far enough away from everything to relax yet close enough to go enjoy the greater Seattle area. It was great for our family of 4 with the 2 bedrooms and loft arrangement. The cabin is well equipped and maintained. Sarah was great. We did hiking, canoeing, the beach, relaxing, and exploring -and returned to the cabin for AWESOME sunsets! We highly recommend this VRBO and will try to come back again. PS there is a little winery up the road that is a must visit if you stay here.
