About Schuyler (Skyler) Lighthall
I purchased this cottage over 20 years ago when i first moved to this area. After traveling extensively throughout the world I thought Penticton was the most beautiful place I had encountered in Canada and was determined to make it my home. It took me two years to find this perfect hideaway home and i enjoyed living in this cottage for many years. In 2005 I decided to rent the cottage out as a vacation rental home. The Naramata Bench was booming with many new wineries and vineyards being developed and the cottage is situated so conveniently and beautifully amongst them. Within a few months of launching the business several neighbours and friends asked me to manage their homes for them and so I decided to quit my job and start Okanagan Housecheck & Vacation Rentals. We have been providing quality vacation rentals and property management services for 11 years now and I'm so glad I took the plunge into the business. It is such a joy to share the beauty of the Okanagan with travellers from near and far. Im extremely greatfull to all the people that have helped me along the way, especially my housekeepers and handypeople, past and present without whom the company would not have had the success we've been so fortunate to have experienced to date. Thank-you!

Why Schuyler (Skyler) Lighthall chose Penticton
This is private, small cottage on two acres with a great lake view. It is very clean and very comfortable with memory foam mattresses and everything you need to cook in the kitchen. There is lots of comfortable furniture inside and out so you can relax and enjoy the incredible view of the lake, mountains and countryside. The extensive Three Blind Mice mountain biking trails start just up the street so you can ride right from the driveway - no need to put the bikes in the car! For walkers, the KVR trail here is probably one of the most scenic parts of it in this whole area. Walking from the cottage along the trail into Penticton is spectacular... It winds through vineyards and orchards and takes you above Lake Okanagan with a great view of the City and marina. Then you can have a great lunch at the The Bench Bistro before you hop on the bus for a quick trip back home. All in all its a great place so come and see why Penticton's called, "The Place To Stay Forever!"

This was a perfect location for our summer getaway. Cute little house with an amazing view!
Million dollar view, adequate cottage
The Lakeside Hideaway has an incredible view.
Loved to be able to walk the couple of minutes to the KVR trail, and enjoyed the view and relaxation provided by the patio and overlook area 100000%. A firepit or someplace besides the grill to make s'mores would have been awesome! We liked the location because it was away from busyness, but close enough that we could get to it if we wanted to.
No A/C, which was not really a problem when we were there because it was a cool week, but would have been a little uncomfortable if it got warmer. The screens (curtains, not doors) let in a lot of bugs at night, just something to be aware of. The kitchen had most cookware and utensils that we needed, but I never found a pizza pan, which would have been appreciated. Also, storage in the bedrooms is a little sparse, so be prepared to live out of your suitcase... shelves in the second bedroom closet would have been good. Check-in and out was easy.
Beautiful views, great location!
My husband and I stayed at this cottage for 2 nights with our 3 year old daughter. It was the perfect size for us with all the necessities for a comfortable stay. The beds were comfortable and the place was very clean upon arrival. We were even allowed to check in a little early which was much appreciated. The views from yard are amazing. We enjoyed a glass of wine watching the sunset both nights. There are also numerous great wineries close by that can be reached easily on the KVR trail that is just up the road. Overall we had a great stay and would definitely stay again!
Great location for a quiet getaway
Great for 2 people. Bedrooms are small but adequate. Well stocked kitchen. Owner very helpful. Great outdoor space and views. Within walking distance of a lovely bistro and within a short drive of many wineries and restaurants.
Absoultely loved our two stays here.
The property was just as described and even better! It is nestled in amongst the vineyards with the most amazing view from the house and patio,. Everything was clean and well maintained. Sklyer was very helpful and flexible. I would recommended it with no hesitations! Can't wait to go back.
Located at 1125 Sutherland Rd. just off of beautiful Naramata Rd.
The Kettle Valley Railway Trail (part of the Trans Canada Trail) is steps from the cottage so this is a great location for walkers , hikers and vacationers with a dog. There is also great mountain biking right from the driveway as the well known and loved 3 Blind Mice trails start just up the road 1/2 mile from the house.
