About Michael or Heather Cassano

My husband Mike and I fell in love with the Thimble Islands on our first visit many years ago with our five children. The rich history of the Connecticut shoreline and the spectacular beauty of the area lured us to buy our first vacation home in Branford, CT in 2014. We gutted and completely remodeled the property in order to allow it to function well as a vacation property. We adore the home, and have appointed it with only the best amenities, appliances, digital technology and furniture. Then, in 2017, we purchased another property in Guilford, CT with a view of beautiful Mulberry Point, and spent a year redesigning and remodeling every inch of it. Both properties are incredibly special and unique, and we invite you to enjoy them as we do!

What makes this house unique

Branford, CT is a beautiful shoreline town located on Long Island Sound, about 90 minutes from NYC and 2 hours from Boston by rail. The home is located in Indian Neck, overlooking the historic Thimble Islands. You'll find farm stands a short walk away, local fresh seafood markets, antique shops and up-and-coming wineries and breweries. Stop at the neighborhood Seafood Restaurants for a fresh catch of the day, or Lobster roll. Cruises of the Thimble Islands depart hourly from nearby Stony Creek dock, and seal-watch cruises are also available in the spring. Branford's recreational facilities include several town-maintained parks and beaches, hiking trails along Lake Saltonstall and a stretch of the Shoreline Greenway Trail, and 20 miles (32 km) of coastline with more than 12 marinas. This home is a 5 minute drive to the historic Branford town green with even more plentiful restaurants, markets, shops, and salons. There, you can experience live summer music, including some of the best musicians from New York to Boston.

Super home for a large group. Stunning views.

  • 5 of 5

We had ten adults along with our Yale student and her fiancé. The home's sleeping accommodations for 10 were great. As well, the home's open layout allowed us all to move freely while preparing and having our group meals. The kitchen is GREAT. We all loved the home as well as it's setting. Heather was very responsive to our questions..very friendly. We would all choose this home again. We made many happy memories as a group. The home and Heather allowed us to do this in comfort. Highly recommended.

Lovely spacious Connecticut gem of a house

  • 5 of 5

Spending our Christmas in this house in Brandford was a very special time for our family – we from England, our son and his wife from Scotland and our daughter and her husband from NYC. We arrived in the dark and rain and it was such a pleasure discovering the warm and welcoming reality of the interior of a house we only seen in photographs. So comfortable and well appointed in Connecticut style. Ample room too – although there were only six in our party I could easily imagine it accommodating ten. As a bit of a foodie I thoroughly enjoyed cooking in the kitchen – it's always an adventure working in other people's kitchen. I always bring my own chef's knife to rental properties but no need in this house.

The next morning was bright and sunny – as were most days of our stay. What a wow to raise the blinds and see dawn across the water – such a special location. We all spent time just enjoying the view. Christmas Day dawned with a layer of snow to make for a White Christmas but not too much, like some States this year, so we could get out and about just as we wanted. It was one of the coldest periods for many years and the heating certainly kept us warm – which dispelled one of my concerns about booking a traditional Connecticut house in the winter - would be warm enough? It certainly was!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property to anyone who wants a family time together – I can imagine summer as quite a different experience to our winter break and am tempted to try to get back to try the kayaks I kept reading about in the guest book.

Incredible View

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the house with our group of 10 women. we were in town for a reunion so spending time together was a priority. The house is lovely, the setting magnificent, we needed plenty of room and the house is very spacious. The water side patio/porch is just a wonderful place to sit and have coffee in the morning and talk late into the night. Heather and Michael great to work with. We plan to return next year.

7 beautiful days

  • 5 of 5

Just returned home after a week at this property with my whole family which included 8 adults and a 7 week old baby. There was plenty of room for each couple to have privacy and a large enough open dining/living room area that we never felt cramped or on top of each other. I have never seen a better appointed rental property. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want or need to cook significant meals for a crowd. There were ample supplies left in a closet that included toilet paper, paper towels, liquid soap, napkins, etc. I had gone to a bookstore to get some reading material before we arrived but I needn't have bothered - the book shelves were full of terrific books of all genres. Outside, there was plenty of seating for multiple people and there were several kayaks and paddle boards so everyone could be out on the water whenever they wanted. All the appliances were in good working order. We had to contact the owner to inform him that when we tried to retract the outside deck awning, the mechanism broke. Michael was immediately responsive and not only came right out to see the problem but brought with him new umbrellas to use in place of the awning. The only drawback was that there was no where to safely take a walk with a baby in the neighborhood - no sidewalks and no public walkway by the water in front of the house. Oh, and there was a cat that came around every single day looking for attention - so often that we thought it could have belonged to the house! It did have a collar with the name Tango on it. Is that an animal you're familiar with, Michael? Anyway, a good time was had by all and we would certainly consider staying there again.
