Overview

About the property

House, 6 Bedrooms, 5 Baths, (Sleeps 22)

While Breckenridge is not as celeb-obsessed as other mountain resort towns in Colorado, it does see the occasional famous face. In the case of this beautiful log home tucked away on the fringes of the White River National Forest, it recently catered to a celebrity who knows a thing or two about designing a comfortable home: Interior Design Guru, Ty Pennington. But don't take it from Ty's story about the home in Woman's Day magazine; instead, take it from the numerous guests who have lavished rave reviews upon us about this high-country hideaway. The home welcomes you with a rustic-luxe log cabin exterior and a lofty great room with 32-foot ceilings and plenty of natural light. Leather armchairs and sofas and a roaring gas fireplace invite long hours of loafing, while the kitchen nicely balances top-of-the-line appliances and quality materials without feeling exorbitant or ostentatious. Out on the deck, a large hot tub makes for a delightful evening of stargazing and quiet relaxation, while the home theater and billiards table provides a nice counterpoint for more raucous fun. The home's guest accommodations are stellar. Two master bedrooms (one with a Jacuzzi tub) give multiple families a lot of options for comfort and privacy. All told, the home's 6 bedrooms accommodate 18, with easy access to ski shuttle down the street (about 4 blocks), you and the clan are never far from the slopes or the thrills of downtown.

Weekend with friends at Goldenview

  • 4 of 5

This property was everything we hoped for. Plenty of space for the group and good location. THere are a few small issues; there was litter under the deck when we arrived, we cleaned it up ourselves, thought it a good lesson for the few kids in tow. The check-out information in the blue house book doesn't match with emailed check-out times, which caused some confusion for the group. The bottom floor master has a real noise issue due to the door having no true closure mechanism or sills/stops in the jambs. I'd say the cleanliness when we arrived was overall 8/10. The game tables are pretty much out of commission or just not often serviced. The pool queues are worn and the table could use a little TLC. These criticisms are small potatoes though. I've stayed at plenty of rentals and this really was one of the better values. They allowed my pets with little hassle, the hot tub was clean and working, and perfect to sit in while the snow came down. There were plenty of clean towels and typical lodging bathroom amenities like soap, shampoo. Extra blankets and air mattresses were easy to find, though we didn't use them. The two kitchens provided plenty of prep space for our group meals. The great room is truly great, the timber walls are beautiful and the fireplaces are amazing! The few issues I mentioned were reflected in the awesome value. Sure there are places with better parking options and newer appliances and amenities but you'll be paying for it. Everyone in our group of 12-ish was very happy overall with this idyllic cabin.

Beautiful place but with many issues

  • 3 of 5

This home is beautiful, very spacious and with great views. But this home had a lot of issues. The pull out beds were not in sleeping condition, as they did not work or had food crumbs on them. The fridge did not work property. It kept your food at a minimal cool temperature. The main level bedroom shower leaks water into the bedroom just below it. We had to clean up a puddle of water from our first night there. The shower upstairs contained mold. The kitchen electric stove power handles are not set in the correct "off" power position. We sat there for an hour trying to figure out what position they should be for them to be in off heat. One of the recliners from downstairs in the theater room does not work. As beautiful this home is and spacious< I would recommend replacing them with king beds. This home does not accommodate 20+ guests. We had to sleep on the floor.

Owner's Response: All of the items mentioned have been corrected. When there are back to back rentals it's impossible to repair broken items especially when the guests do not want workers in their rental home. Thanks Danny

Perfect weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were very impressed with this rental. The house was beautiful and there was more than enough room for everyone. There were a variety of areas in the house for people to gather and hang out and play. Home was clean and well taken care of. The perfect birthday weekend.

Beautiful Mountain House with Great Ammenities

  • 5 of 5

I rented this house with 9 other guys for a long weekend at the end of July to celebrate a friend's bachelor party.

The house was a great size for our group. 8 people claimed beds and the other 2 slept on couches (there were pull out sofas, but I think they ended up on the couches because they were comfortable and my friends were lazy). Either way, everyone was comfortable. We spend much of our trip doing activities, but still made great use of the house and all it had to offer. We spent most of our time in the great room on the first floor, but still spent time playing pool, foosball and in the hot tub in the downstairs area. We even watched UFC fights in the theater room, which was perfect for our group.

I only had a few questions leading up to/during our trip and Danny was very responsive and helpful.

Overall, I was very happy with the house. It was a great fit for my group and was priced appropriately.

Lots of space for multiple families to both separate and to get together

  • 4 of 5

This house provided more than enough space for our 4 families, 2 of which had children. We were able to segregate floors (3 different floors) to control noise level of 2 busy teen boys from the level where the baby slept. A few issues to consider: If you have a dog with you, there is no area near the house to walk/relieve them - just the road. We dealt with some loose unfriendly dogs that ran at our on leash dogs. Also, we found the written information we received had conflicting information and seemed out of date. For example, within the same document we had 2 different check out times, misinformation about using the propane as well as the garbage disposal. One other issue was low water pressure in a loft bathroom that had a lot of black mold on the floor tile. It was hard to conserve water when the head allowed so little to flow. These are not deal breakers by any means but something for renters with dogs and/or kids should be aware of.
