New Years 2017

  • 5 of 5

If I had to sum this trip up in just a few words, it would be AMAZING, AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL! The cabin, well, was just wonderful, everything about it was just fabulous, shower was Awesome!

My husband and I got to sit in the hot tub underneath a blanket of stars, it was so amazing! Not once, but twice we sat in there when it was snowing-no words needed for that!

We took our two dogs, they were at home, loved the snow, it was great to take them with us.

Overall, it was a vacation we enjoyed, Gary and Lauretta were just very pleasant and we loved their sweet cabin in the woods! We will be back for sure!!!

Great Stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

The area and property are great! We loved every minute of our vacation. Lauretta and Gary are extremely sweet and helpful! Truly one of the best vacations we've ever had! If you need to disconnect and connect with nature this is the place to go! The stary nights, beautiful open land, cozy "postcard-ish" barn/cabin and gorgeous horses were truly beautiful! We will come again!

Beautifully relaxing. Quite. Full of wildlife.

The owners thought of everything. Just bring your groceries and you never have to leave. We enjoyed seeing wild turkeys, walking through the snowy woods and loving on the horses. This was the best vacation we have ever been on. We will be back every year!!!

Winderful quiet retreat

  • 5 of 5

The property is very well maintained and has a country cabin charm. Relaxing getaway! Everything you need is in the cabin, well stocked kitchen, extra blankets and plenty of wood for the wood burning stove. The farm animals and keepers are hardly noticable. Qick 40 minute drive to Durango for shopping and local sights. We very much enjoyed our stay.

Peaceful Bliss

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful escape in the woods of Bayfield. My husband & I arrived with a warm welcome from the owners. Fresh cut flowers from the garden in a vase on the bar. Very lovely Rustic Barn Loft Apartment and tastefully decorated. Very clean and well maintained. Comfy bed and soft linens. Fully equipped kitchen with everything you'll need to prepare meals. A few food items, coffee, staple items, spices and even chicken breasts & ice cream ready for us to use. If you love your Keurig coffee pot, they have one and a regular one too. Super cool bathroom with hand cut stone shower surround, vintage dresser made into a vanity with a copper sink inset. Windows on every wall to see the beautiful scenery this place has to offer. Loved the mud room downstairs for the brief rainy days we had. For those chilly nights we used the potbelly stove. It heated the entire loft. Loved the ambiance. Plenty of good books to read if you are a reader. Lots of Movies to watch. Really enjoyed sitting on the deck watching the animals and playing cards. Soaked in the hot tub a few nights. It's completely private and a great place to star gaze. The twice daily farm duties that went on were never a bother.

The barn is nestled in the woods on a private road on a working farm. We met the 2 Beefalo's who were very vocal when it was time to eat. We enjoyed it thouroughly!! The Beefalo's would run and play with each other and but heads. They are 1 & 2 years old. They have 4 magnificent horses who also occasionally put on a show for us. The owners have 3 dogs that are affectionate and curious. Never bothersome. The grounds are absolutely stunning! Gorgeous flowers in the garden of several varieties. Grapevines with tasty looking grapes on them. Deer everywhere. Wild turkey. This property is off the beaten path, but close to everything you'll need and a short drive to Durango. Maps, books and booklets on Durango, Silverton, Ouray, Telluride among others were available to make your day trip plans. Because Bayfield is so centrally located, you can go anywhere. The owners did their best to make us comfortable and were available for any problems or questions as they live near by. We are already planning a trip back next year to include this humble abode.

We never encountered any problems. No complaints. Fully satisfied and completely happy with our choice to stay at the barn loft. A big Thank You to Gary & Lauretta! This trip made our 50th Birthdays and our 33rd anniversary so very special!

Owner's Response: Thank you for the extensive accolades! We're so happy that you enjoyed our place as much as we do, and we look forward to having you join us again next year. You were great guests! We enjoyed visiting with you. Thank you for leaving the space so clean and tidy, which made my cleaning job for the next guests super easy. I loved the flowers you chose from the gardens to arrange for us. A nice treat for me! Soon the elk will be migrating through and the grapes will be harvested. Also a nice time to visit if you want to come a little later in the year next time. We look forward to hosting you again! Cheers!

This ranch near. Durango, is a great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

The stay at the cattle farm was a highlight of our trip. It was only about a half hour from the Durango/Silverton train, and a beautiful drive to the farm. The apartment, in the loft of an actual working barn, was clean and very rustic. The owners, who made an effort to see us during our visit, even left us a bottle of wine made from their own little vineyard. If you need a fun get away, stay at this cattle ranch!
