Located in a quiet neighborhood in the Old North End historic district of downtown Colorado Springs, this apartment has convenient access to so much that makes our city a special place.

The apartment is in a mixed residential/business neighborhood and is a 2-minute walk to grocery stores, Starbucks, community coffee shops and a vintage 1950's ice cream restaurant, and has direct access to the Shooks Run Bike Trail into the business district of downtown and the Rock Island Trail with rides and walks to beautiful mountain and plains vistas on the East side.

Lovely Monument Valley Park and the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail is an easy 4-minute bike ride, drive or easy walk with endless biking and walking trails that form part of the Front Range Trail with paths leading north and south.

Colorado College, with its beautiful campus and regular events is a short 5-minute drive or 8-minute bike ride through the beautiful Gold/Silver Rush homes of the Old North End.

Penrose Hospital, voted one of America's best medical facilities, is also just 2 blocks away.

Patty Jewett Municipal Golf Course, the oldest course West of the Mississippi, is an easy 4-minute drive away.

DO NOT STAY HERE!

First of all this place looks nothing like the pictures. There are 4 other units that they may put you in. The pictures are probably from the nicest one. Our unit looked nothing like the pictures up above. Secondly it was very very filthy. The floors were sticky the beds were covered in hair and the whole placed smelled like weed. I personally never got under the old nasty blankets that were on the bed because of how gross they were. Third the owners were less then ideal. I called both of the numbers that were available as did my dad and neither of them had the decency to return the calls. Their excuse was they were driving but they certainly could text while driving which I found to be very strange. We had a good time because we were with family but I would not recommend this place to anyone. Its in what looks like a store. The walls are incredibly thin we could hear the neighbors very clearly which was annoying. The toilet didn't flush well at all. Just over all a horrible place to stay and horrible customer service. It may be cheap but not cheap enough to stay at this place. I'm telling you its worth spending more money to stay in a nicer place. I know I will next time. When I read the reviews I saw both good and bad but I was hoping the good out weighed the bad. I WAS SO WRONG. And anyone who leaves a nice review on this place must be related to the owners or have never stayed here.

Fine but a little effort from the owner would have made it much better.

The place suited our needs. There were some issues. First we never saw the owner/manager. The communication before hand was almost nil. The written information we receive when we got there did not seem to match the unit we were in but we figured out everything. The big thing is that the TV did not work. While the owner was responsive to our text on the subject, the TV never worked while we were there. Luckily they had good wifi. We would have hoped that someone would have checked to make sure everything was in working order before we arrived.

Less than ideal

To be fair, this is one of the cheaper options for staying in the area, so of course I was not expecting a fancy place; however, I do not feel satisfied with the trip. Before ever arriving I spent a week and a half trying to contact the owner to find out where the property was located and how to check in as I have never used VRBO before. None of my calls (to the number listed on the post) were returned and my emails ignored. I had to contact customer service and did not hear back from the owner until 24 hours before my arrival. This is very unsettling when flying in from so far away! Once we arrived at the building, which is a business building, not "residential" at all, and settled in, we had more problems. The first day we were there the alarm went off and I had to call the owner multiple times to get it to turn off since the first time they said to "hit cancel several times" and when that didn't work they finally gave me a code to enter. I texted the owner to let them know the exact message on the screen and received no additional response. It went off again for no reason multiple times during our stay and the screen stated it had a phone line error. This should have been corrected but was not. After our first day of hiking we returned for the evening to shower. My sister found bugs in the rear bathroom. There was also trash, food, and a used condom found in the middle bedrooms! While cleaning between customers, they should clean behind and under things! Also, the rules state to 'help the cleaning person' by taking our trash out before leaving but there were no additional garbage bags to be found and the dumpster out back is padlocked. The back area where there is a bed and couch is not heated, there is only a space heater, and the bed in the second bedroom was broken. While I understand this is not an expensive, upscale rental, had I known the conditions that we would be staying in I would have much rather paid extra to have our family stay in a cleaner well kept environment. The only thing positive I have to say about this stay was that the owner did provide a pack n play for my toddler to sleep in as they had agreed. The paperwork left by the owner says to let them know about any issues within the first 24 hours, but with as unresponsive as they were what good would that do. Very disappointed.

Great deal!!

At first, the property, which is located in a single level business/office building, was a bit confusing to find but to be fair the owner had made the directions extremely clear (and it was already dark when we got in). Besides that, the property was wonderful. Looks just like the pictures, with lots of space allowing for time spent together with your fellow travelers and time apart when you need a break all under one roof. The mini kitchen is incredibly convenient and even more so considering the nearest grocery store is a minute walk out the back door of the house. The owner of the property, Doug, was incredibly accomodating and quick to answer questions and concerns. It is located in a safe and relatively quiet area, and is only 5 to 15 minutes away from nearly everything Colorado Springs has to offer. My only suggestion would be to keep the front door locked at all times; it looks like an office from the outside and people get confused (even despite the telltale rental sign on the door). Otherwise, my group and I truly believe this house was a bargain, and we would love to stay again! Thank you Doug for having us!
