This little 160 sq ft cabin sits above Banks Lake and Coulee City and has great views of both. Enjoy some outdoor cooking, then relax on the porch and stargaze. This is off the grid so there is no power or water but I have supplied plenty of lanterns, hand pumped water to the sink and an outdoor on demand propane shower. The cabin is very cozy inside with a double daybed. During the summer there is a comfy double bed for outdoor sleeping on the porch or a double wooden bed out in the sagebrush for the ultimate in stargazing! The composting "privy" has a full light door for enjoying the views over the lake! Lol. And there is a 20 acre maze of trails to walk, cross country ski or run on the property.
I am an avid outdoor enthusiast and love camping and trail running/hiking and flying I am an auto mechanic by trade and ran my own business as Ms Mechanic for 23 years. Tiny houses are my passion now and off the grid life experience, thus this tiny cabin!
This property is totally off the grid. You find yourself amazed with how easy it actually is to live without most of things you thought were necessities.
If you are looking to get away and reunite with nature this is the place! Everything works perfectly, what small and necessary amenities there are (heat and water). Perfect size and in a great location, I would return here many times without a second thought, we loved it Meryl! Thank you so much, you were very easy to work with and kept a solid line of communication for any questions we could have had from booking the cabin all the way through the day we left, thanks again!
* super friendly/helpful host
* well equipped cabin
* easy access
You can admire the view, hear the birds, see the stars at night + you can take a hot shower.
Who needs electricity?
The description of the property is accurate, in the same way you can describe a diamond as a mineral. Off the grid? Yes. Hot shower? Yes. It's that kind of attention to the small details that really makes this place sing. This isn't the spot for a large family reunion spent watching a flat-screen tv. However, if you want to listen to the coyotes at night or watch the stars from the most unusual bed-in-the-sagebrush or explore a fascinating area of the country this might be your spot.
Ms. Hart was super attentive and flexible, even when we were 45 minutes behind schedule and arrived in the dark. She made us feel right at home.
One aspect that folks may be squeamish to ask about is the composting toilet. The "out-house" is a wonder, with a ridiculously good view, no odors, no muss/fuss, super clean, and it has holiday lights (on a solar battery) for when the sun goes down.
Multiple beds for multiple conditions or people's inclinations. The shack is neat, tidy, clean, and very comfortable. Propane stove for heating the shack works very quickly.
But the real joy is just outside the shack's doors.
There certainly will be a return visit, just need more than two nights!
The Sagebrush Shanty was so comfy and quiet, it was perfect! It had everything you need for being off the grid, though I did bring a battery powered radio so I could listen to the Seahawks game while BBQ'ing, otherwise it was lots of peace and quiet and vegging out in the mornings and evenings. Spent the days jetsking down at Sun Lakes. I have found my new yearly spot to stay each August! And Meryl is great, she showed me all of the workings of the property and is super nice. The only downside is that time passed by way too quickly, lol!
We loved unwinding at the Sagebrush Shanty! My favorite part was stargazing at night.
Wonderful weekend stay at Sagebrush Shanty. My boyfriend and I wanted to get away and this was perfect! So peaceful and the house was so cozy. Meryl was wonderful host, would stay again!
