About Nicole Fisher

Peter and Nicole Fisher are residents of Salt Lake City, but have also lived in Moab, St. George, Provo, Boston, Massachusetts and Ann Arbor, Michigan. They love the outdoors, skiing, boating, hiking, biking and sharing those activities with their 4 children.

Nicole Fisher purchased this cabin in 2015

Why Nicole Fisher chose Duck Creek Village

The Fisher's chose to purchase a cabin in Duck Creek after visiting with friends who also own a cabin in Duck Creek Pines. Their parents owned a home in Springdale, near Zions National Park. When their parents decided to downsize and move back to Salt Lake, Peter and Nicole knew they wanted a place somewhere in southern Utah to enjoy their favorite place. Duck Creek feels like you're in Jackson Hole or Oregon, but is central to incredible southern Utah's splendid rustic beauty.

What makes this cabin unique

What especially drew the Fisher's to the Welcome Lodge (named after Nicole's grandfather, Lawrence Welcome Fountaine, originally Fontaine-Bienvenu), was the peaceful setting surrounded by serene pine trees and the incredible outdoor spaces the cabin provided included gracious decks and patios.

Wonderful Place to Enjoy the Winter Snow

  • 5 of 5

We stayed their for the Christmas 2016. The place was gorgeous, very spacious, clean, and nicely equipped with whatever amenities you need to enjoy your stay. Lots of in house kid activities were provided by the owner along. We had a rough time getting from Cider City to the village (about 32 miles drive) mainly due to a heavier than usual winter storm on Christmas eve. If you plan to get there during winter "chain" is a must have and I recommend to drive an AWD SUV. Hats up for Nicole (the owner) she was wonderful without her help we would have been lost and probably stock in the snow for the night. Kids had a blast, lots of sliding! The nature is amazing both in the village and on the way up the mountains. One last point, do not count on the wifi as it was very slow and reminded me of the dial-up age, which might not be a bad at the end as it lets you enjoy the nature rather than staring at your screen :). We can't wait to go back.

Pristine Cabin Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My family and I stayed here for our birthday weekend celebration with both sets of in-laws. The cabin itself is beautiful; full of tasteful, inviting decor. It was very clean and well-maintained. The layout was perfect for our three families situation. The dining area and kitchen open to the large family room, which allowed us all to interact while some people cooked and others played board games. The cabin had all the amenities we needed. The owner was quick to respond when I emailed to ask about roasting skewers, as the last occupants had put them back in the wrong place. We spent each night around the fire pit, and loved that they have a wood burning stove on the lower deck of the cabin. When the fire in the fire pit had burned out and everyone else turned in for the night, my mom and I decided to spend the late hours star-gazing by the stove instead of going all the way out to the fire pit. It kept us close to the cabin so we could keep an ear out for the kids, if they woke up.

I highly recommend the horseback rides just down the street from the cabin. The family who owns the horses are very friendly and take you out on trails through the woods. Several family members decided to go. Our three-year-old son wanted to ride and he had only gone about 50 feet when he decided it wasn't for him. The owner of the company gave us back our money for our son without us even asking.

Duck Creek Village is a cute little town we visited a few times while we were there.

We very much enjoyed our stay and are planning on returning to this cabin in the future!
