Cute casita in the Kensington neighborhood. East walk to restaurants, Starbucks, YMCA, and public transportation access.
Small but comfortable
The house is small but perfect for 2 people. My wife and I stayed here for 3 weeks in January. The house was exactly as described. It was clean with a nice well stocked kitchen. The washer & dryer came in handy since we were there 3 weeks. We thought the bed was very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful and a short walk to restaurants and shops in Kensington. Parking is very convenient on the street, right next to the house, on a very quiet street.
We had a small problem with the heater but Laurie was very responsive, offered us a space heater, and had the problem fixed the next day.
We would definitely stay there again.
Cute & Quiet
This was a great location (super quiet neighborhood and a 5-minute wall to Adams Avenue)! The place is cute, as pictured, and the washer/dryer was so convenient! Unfortunately, the heating unit wasn’t working during my stay and I was unprepared for that—if you’re traveling here in the winter, bring extra layers, as the house got very cold at night. Overall a positive experience; the property owner was very responsive to messages as well.
Enjoyed our stay
We stayed at the villa a few days on our way to Baja California for a mission trip. The villa was very nice with all the amenities you could think of. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The updated kitchen was awesome. It was great having a washer and dryer we could use. Since I knew we could wash our clothes there, I packed less clothes than usual. On our last day we sat in the courtyard enjoying a cup of coffee, which was very nice. It's conveniently close to Kingsington, the freeway and nearby park. When renting an AirBNB, you don't always get what you expect (pictures can be deceiving) but we were very satisfied with this villa and would definitely stay here again.
Clean and comfortable!
Everything about this property was just as described in the listing, and our stay was fantastic! The home was immaculately clean, and all the appliances and fixtures were fairly new and worked perfectly. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils, and it was nice to have such a large fridge and a dishwasher.
The neighborhood is safe, friendly, and fun. We always had a parking spot right outside, just steps away from the door. The property is off main roads (no traffic), but it is very convenient and close to the highway. Also, it was nice to have plenty of channels to watch when we stayed in.
Overall, this was an outstanding property and location. The owners were responsive, kind, and helpful. I would stay again anytime.
This newly renovated Spanish-style villa is located in downtown Kensington. The home's desirable location is a two block walk to restaurants, wine bars, coffee shops, parks, and a theater and only minutes from downtown, beaches, football and baseball stadiums and the zoo.

About Laurie Runk
We are an active family transplanted from the Midwest who fell in love with the outdoor lifestyle that San Diego offers. I am a dietitian and college professor - which means I get to teach people about staying healthy for a living! My husband is a civil engineer that travels the region working on bridge designs. We love being on the water, in the garden or in the kitchen cooking. Our most recent adventure has come with welcoming our son in the Spring of 2017. We spend most of our free time biking, fishing, hiking, boating, and it's not an adventure without our 2 dogs along for the ride. Travel is a passion...anywhere in the world, we love to just pick up and go! We have been doing vacation rentals in Riverside, CA, and San Diego, CA for 5+ years and it has been a fantastic way to connect with people from all over...we love to hear the travel stories from both guest and hosts alike. And there's nothing better than the inside scoop on the best local spots so we're constantly on the lookout for places to add to the list as a host! I believe the best part about traveling is finding places where you feel like you're at home no matter how far away you may be.

Why Laurie Runk chose Kensington
We have spent a significant amount of time traveling around Southern California and it only took one trip to the neighborhood of Kensington to know this is where we wanted to buy a home. The whole neighborhood is a beautifully kept, historic area with very thoughtful and active residents. There are always people out walking, kids playing at the park, and local events to enjoy. We love that there are a variety of standout restaurants and wine bars within short walking distance to the house. The peaceful environment makes it ideal for sitting outside on the patio in the mornings and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. As if all of this wasn't reason enough to settle in Kensington, the accessibility to ride the trolley into downtown, the proximity to ALL of the San Diego beaches and attractions (stadiums, zoo, Sea World, etc), and the short trip to Temecula Wine Country are just icing on the cake.
What makes this Villa unique
Having the opportunity to renovate a property in such a lovely neighborhood was a wonderful experience. Entering the property, you will walk through a quaint, gated archway and immediately notice the handcrafted reclaimed wood door from Mexico and beautiful hand-painted flower pot by the entrance. The lawn is top of the line eco-friendly artificial grass which requires zero maintenance and has a cooling compound so it is never too hot on your feet. The small outdoor patio is original to the home with beautiful landscaping for privacy and enjoyment. Inside, there are too many amenities to list with beautiful stainless appliances and large farm sink, gas range, and OF COURSE a dishwasher to make life easier!
