Gem of a place to stay quiet but with all you need
Just back from a wonderful stay at the Annexe. Fiona and Alistair couldnt have been more welcoming. Accommodation was first rate plenty of room and all the facilities that you ever need a home from home, in our case better we where thinking of squatting. Apart from the inside access to large garden out the back, the property is built amid an old orchard so apple, pear and plum trees in garden, plenty of wild life including a squirrel, who we christened Cyril which we sat and watched. Fiona also has a couple of lovely dogs who often play out in the garden, when Alison is with them, both very friendly. Bus service Number 41, to town is every 15 minutes during the week, would recommended going after 9a.m. in morning as bus can be busy earlier. Cafe, pubs supermarket and a few shops just over 5 minutes away in Main Street, decent pint and pub food in the Ye Olde Inn in Main Street. Plenty to do in Edinburgh and round about outside of the festival period and a good base to travel from, the new Forth Road bridge for instance is only about 15 minutes away by car from Annexe. Would highly recommended the Annexe as a place to stay will be back.
Very clean comfortable well equipped and quiet location
A lovely holiday near Edinburgh City Centre
The three of us had a lovely holiday in Fiona and Al's Annexe. We spent just under a week in August. We had lovely weather, only a little rain. The bus stop was just across the road and we regularly jumped on the 41 bus to the City Centre (20-25 mins). The bus fare was £1.60p - no need to take a taxi from the station. Fiona provided more than the usual essentials when we arrived, eg tea, coffee, sugar, milk, etc which was very kind and unexpected. Supermarket is not far, only 5 mins away.. We didn't even realise the Edinburgh festival was on so it was a surprise when we went along the Royal Mile to see all the street performers. The kitchen in the Annexe is very well stocked. The beds were comfortable. The garden was lovely. Fiona was really helpful and Al was very nice. The Wifi was not great as it kept cutting out but it worked fine when connected. The Royal Botanical Gardens was a very nice surprise, really beautiful, it was free entry there but a fee to enter the glasshouses. We would highly recommend the Annexe to all.
Thank you for your lovely review. Apologies regarding the WiFi we traced this down to the sender unit which has been replaced.
Wonderful stay at The Annex
This accomodation is 5 star. It's immaculately clean and furnished to a high standard. Fiona was there to meet us when we arrived and explained everything to us. She even put some essentials in the fridge for us. The Annex is just off a main road but you'd never know as its so peaceful . I loved watching Fiona and her dogs on the lawn in the morning! I would highly recommend the Annex to anyone looking for quality accomodation just 15 minutes from the city centre by bus.
Many thanks for your kind review, I am glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you also for leaving the Annexe so clean and tidy, it made my job so easy. I look forward to maybe welcoming you again in the future.
