This property is nestled in a National Park and is within walking distance to the historic village of Jumilhac le Grand. The cottage is over two hundred years old and is set in a beautiful location overlooking a scenic valley with the River I'sle flowing past at the bottom. On the upper terrace there is a built in barbeque and a large area which is ideal for Al fresco dining and on the lower is your own private swimming pool. The landscapes surrounding L'Hirondelle feature rolling hills, orchards, rivers and lakes that boast trout, pike and perch.

The town square is home to the stunning Chateau de Jumilhac which holds daily tours of the castle and its grounds. The cottage is perfectly situated to allow you to take advantage of walks, bike rides, rock climbing, canoeing and horseback riding. During the autumn months the forest becomes a patchwork of colour and the local producers markets sell superb pressed cidre, chestnuts, boudin a cooks paradise and you can end your day with your feet up next to the log burner.

Why The Owner chose Jumilhac-le-Grand

We just fell in love with this property when first seen, the location is just so peaceful and tranquil, sit outside and listen to the animals in the surrounding national park, relax and enjoy a glass of wine.

What makes this cottage unique

Ten minutes walk into the town of Jumilhac le Grand walking a medieval path through the forrest which leads to the Chateau.

You can relax at your own private pool away from it all if desired.

Car: not necessary

Local campsite La Rhue has weekly live entertainment, there is a farmers market weekly on a sunday and of course the Jumilhac Castle which is well worth a visit, both inside and the grounds outside.

Quaint and quirky cottage. Good range of facilities in a good location for visiting the area.

The pool was great and the outdoor space was lovely, though the greenery could do with pruning. Well appointed kitchen. Main bedroom is a little dark with a low ceiling. Nice walk into the village which had enough for basic needs.

PERFECT

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here for 2 weeks. I was there with my girlfriend and family.

The house was clean, spacious and had everything we needed (The neighbors are also friends of the owners and were able to help us with any questions or info).

The pool was great and clean and we played a lot of ping pong on the terrace.

We went horse riding, go carting and out on pedalos at the nearby lake.

This was a great holiday and if you want to take a 10 minutes walk down to the town, there are a few bars and restaurants and the Chateux is well worth seeing. Would go again.

We stayed last summer at this cottage, the owner had supplied information on the property, things of interest in the area and facilities, which was very useful, clean spacious accommodation and safe for children with the gated front of cottage as well as the back area with the pool and the games area, highly recommend this property.

Très agréable

  • 5 of 5
