About Sue Anderson
In 2008, we moved to France from England for a gentler way of life and to give our daughter the advantages of becoming bi-lingual and exposure to a different culture. It was difficult with one of us having grown up in Cape Town to find something comparable but when we found Le Crann in Brittany we immediately felt at home. Now fully settled here in such a beautiful location, we can't imagine living anywhere else.
Sue Anderson purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Sue Anderson chose Quistinic
A key criteria for our purchase was any property had to be a 'home from home' for our guests. The stunning 16th Century properties give a real taste of a bygone age with all modern conveniences. Le Crann offered everything: A warm temperate climate with sunshine hours comparable to Southern France. Brittany has it's own distinct culture and language with extremely welcoming people. Close to many sandy beaches and the glorious countryside of the Blavet Valley. Activities for young & old including golf, cycling, canoeing, sailing and walking. Delightful places of historical interest with many cultural events year long. Proximity to UK and Europe with many access points by car, ferry or plane. Private south facing gardens and extensive communal gardens with heated pools.
What makes this Cottage unique
With the large extensive gardens of 4 acres with views over the most beautiful countryside and situated at the end of a quiet country lane with no through traffic, our guests have commented on how safe and peaceful the gardens and surrounding environs are for children of all ages. The perfect place to relax and unwind. Most holiday makers only have one or two weeks in which to enjoy their holiday and a lot of time can sometime be spent trying to familiarise yourself with your environment. We have a small cottage in the main gardens and are on hand, if you so wish, to ensure you maximise your holiday and don't miss out on any holiday experience. We also have the most raved about Information Pack covering everything you could possibility want from your holiday. For those nature-lovers, walkers and cyclists there are walking paths leading directly from the property to many points of interest in the region.

Gorgeous and very well maintained
The host and hostess, Sue and Steve were very helpful and so accommodating. They go out of their way to make you comfortable. The property and the cottages are in prime condition and so well maintained. We enjoyed our winter holiday stay and we had 5 adults and 6 grandchildren and were very
Comfortable with Wisteria Cottage space! I especially loved the large farm tables, so we could all enjoy our meals together! Such a beautiful spot and scenery was breath taking,
Dear Carolyn, Thank you for such a lovely review - we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. It was a pleasure to meet you and your family of intredip travellers. All the very best for 2016! Sue, Steve and Maxine xx
Fantastic holiday in a beautiful home.
We had a great family holiday and there was everything you could possibly want or need. Everything was thought of, from toys for granchildren and books, dvds and games for adults. Bikes, inflatables for the pool, table tennis and badminton. A comprehensive information folder was also provided. The accommodation was clean and we were all very impressed. Our hosts, Sue and Steve, were very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Will be reccommending to family and friends. On a separate note our 4 year old granddaughter didnt want to go to the beaches nearby, she wanted to stay and play in the pool and wendy house! It is a very special place, quiet and peaceful with beautiful views.
Thank you very much for your kind review. We are looking forward very much to your return next year.
Beautiful cottage, lovely grounds, great facilities! The cottage had everything we needed and there was plenty for our four year old and two year olds twins to stay entertained - from a little playhouse and swing/slide (slightly old but perfectly adequate) to footballs, two lovely pools (fenced and locked up so very safe) and dvds. There was also a hammock, table tennis and badminton court and boules sets. The accommodation was very good, comfortable beds, very nice showers etc. Our hosts were friendly, had pretty much thought of everything we could possibly need, were quick to fix a problem with a toilet seat, responded to emails very promptly and were not intrusive. The only thing that could have made it better was being closer to a beach and having restaurants within walking distance. To be fair though part of the charm of this place is the countryside its in and it didn't take too long to get to beaches/restaurants. We particularly liked Quiberon and Carnac but these are a good day out being an hour away. Loads of things to do and see in this area. Would recommend to everyone I know! :-) and not forgetting we booked a meal with daisy chain caterers and had a fantastic meal on our first night!
Many thanks for your lovely review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for the recommendations to all your friends. In addition to most beaches only being a 30-35 minute drive away, there is also the river beach at Minezan only 10 minutes drive away.
My Perfect Heaven
This was our second visit to this idyllic place. We relaxed and unwound here with the serenity of it. The open aspects with stunning views add to it.. Wisteria Cottage was ideal for all of us and we love the Breton charm of the place.it was very comfortable and well furnished for all our needs.Sue and Seve,as ever, were there to help if needed. Quistinic is an ideal base to explore the area either by car or on foot. We will certainly return next year
Many thanks for your lovely review. It was a pleasure (as always) having you and look forward to catching up again next year.
Le Crann is a childs paradise and parents retreat. The grounds have all you could wish for to occupy young children which means lots of rest for mum and dad. We have just returned home from 2 wks in Wisteria cottage which was clean and comfortable. Lots of days out within 40 minutes of gite, well stocked supermarket within 10 mins drive. Sally at Daisy Chain can provide excellent home cooked meals on request. But the best thing about Le Crann are the owners who live on site and provide a high level of unintrusive personal service from advise about days out to latest weather forcast.
"Our stay in this cottage with our 13 year old son over the summer holidays last year was fabulous. Our son really enjoyed the pool during the hot days and since we last stayed the trees have been thinned out exposing the stunning views across the valley, lovely to look at whilst lazing by the pool sipping a glass of French wine. Our son , being that bit older can swim but the safety railings around the pool would be so reassuring if I had a younger child. It was so wonderful to feel relaxed and safe and we were happy to let our son who is on the Autistic spectrum wander around the large mature gardens and on site forest giving us a much needed break. He certainly enjoyed the sense of freedom and beauty of nature that is not easily experienced in the suburban area in which we live at home. However there was a great selection of DVD's and SKY television to restore his need for teenage technology. I especially enjoyed the walks and cycling using the bikes provided by Sue and Steve who are so friendly and extremely knowledgable about the area having lived there for 7 years. We revisited our favourite ride along the local Blavet river. A few years ago we stayed in Fuchsia cottage but on this last visit we stayed in Wisteria cottage. Both cottages have been refurbished to an extremely high standard and have anything that you could ever want. I couldn't fault anything and the attention to detail is remarkable. We didn't need the wood burning stove this visit but I have fond memories of it from 3 years ago."
Wow! Thank you for your great review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and your son felt at home in the gardens. We are always delighted when our guests return!
Le Crann is situated in the commune of Quistinic, host to the 16th century village of Poul Fetan, immaculately restored to show life at that time. If you want to step further back in time, outside the village of Melrand (15 minutes away) is the Village de l’an mil, a 1000 year old reconstructed medieval village. Close by there are many historic towns and castles to visit including Hennebont, Auray, Pontivy, Vannes and Josselin. Morbihan is renowned for its megalithic stones with so many special places to visit; Carnac with its 3000 standing stones a must see, but also those at Locmariquer, Petit Mont or even catch a boat to the island of Gavrinis. And if that’s not enough, the region has plenty of museums, zoos and parks. Art lovers can follow the 'Art in the Chapel' exhibitions throughout the summer for a tour of the Blavet River chapels. The commune of Quistinic and the Blavet Valley is a walkers and cyclists paradise and the owner has details of many published routes with walking routes leading directly from Le Crann. For a lazy day, take a cruise down the River Blavet, or take one of many boat trips to the off shore islands and around the beautiful inland sea of the Gulf du Morbihan, where you can stop off on some of the larger islands for lunch, a walk and even a cycle. There is hardly a week that goes by without some festival in the region. Lorient hosts the delightful 10 day Inter- Celtique music festival and Josselin and Hennebont hold annually medieval festival. Many regattas are held at the yachting haven of Trinite-sur-Mer. And don't forget those local markets and brocantes for fresh produce or that antique bargain.
