About Sue Anderson
In 2008, we moved to France from England for a gentler way of life and to give our daughter the advantages of becoming bi-lingual and exposure to a different culture. It was difficult with one of us having grown up in Cape Town to find something comparable but when we found Le Crann in Brittany we immediately felt at home. Now fully settled here in such a beautiful location, we can't imagine living anywhere else.
Sue Anderson purchased this Cottage in 2008
Why Sue Anderson chose Quistinic
A key criteria for our purchase was any property had to be a 'home from home' for our guests. The stunning 16th Century properties give a real taste of a bygone age with all modern conveniences. Le Crann offered everything: A warm temperate climate with sunshine hours comparable to Southern France. Brittany has it's own distinct culture and language with extremely welcoming people. Close to many sandy beaches and the glorious countryside of the Blavet Valley. Activities for young & old including golf, cycling, canoeing, sailing and walking. Delightful places of historical interest with many cultural events year long. Proximity to UK and Europe with many access points by car, ferry or plane. Private south facing gardens and extensive communal gardens with heated pools
What makes this Cottage unique
With the large extensive gardens of 4 acres with views over the most beautiful countryside and situated at the end of a quiet country lane with no through traffic, our guests have commented on how safe and peaceful the gardens and surrounding environs are for children of all ages. The perfect place to relax and unwind. Most holiday makers only have one or two weeks in which to enjoy their holiday and a lot of time can sometime be spent trying to familiarise yourself with your environment. We have a small cottage in the main gardens and are on hand, if you so wish, to ensure you maximise your holiday and don't miss out on any holiday experience. We also have the most raved about Information Pack covering everything you could possibility want from your holiday. For those nature-lovers, walkers and cyclists there are walking paths leading directly from the property to many points of interest in the region.

Chocolate Box Cottages Set in a Rural Idyll
This wonderful holiday venue was all and more than we had hoped for, but what made our holiday most enjoyable was the excellent service provided by the owners. We were an extended family of 18 (including babies), with ages ranging from 1 to 71 years, with varied requirements. In the months leading up to our holiday we made several obscure requests about activities and places to visit, which the Owners dealt with very efficiently and effectively to meet all of our needs. On arrival and throughout our stay we were not disappointed!
Many thanks for your kind review. We are so glad you had a fantastic holidayand it was a pleasure to help.
Le-Crann Holiday 2015
We stayed at Le-Crann for the 1st time Easter 2015 and had a fabulous holiday, the Gites were everything we expected and then some more.
The gardens and play areas were extensive and well maintained, the Gites extremely picturesk and well maintained with everything you could possibly need.
Both Gites were nice and close to each other but were separated.
The pools were great but it was still a little cold when we went to use them fully although we did try.
Location was great, extremely quiet, owners very knowledgeable and friendly.
Lots of nice walks and places to explore. Safe for children.
Information packs were superb with lots of information, restaurants, places to visit, trips out etc.
All the party enjoyed themselves and the children did not want to leave at the end of our stay.
We would recommend the Gites to anyone looking for a holiday location in Britanny and look forward to a return stay.
Graham & Diane
Dear Graham and Diane. Thank you for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed the tranquil haven at Le Crann. We do look forward to welcoming you back to Le Crann.
Fabulous Family Holiday
We have stayed at Le Crann twice, once in Wisteria and once in Fuchsia cottage. Three generations of our family holidaying together and we all love Le Crann. The swimming pools, play-house, swings and slide were very popular with the children and we all loved the gardens for our afternoon drinks and al fresco dinners. Perfectly situated close to historical towns like Pontivy, great beaches like Larmor-Plage and lots of villages in close proximity for groceries & cafe/bars/restaurants. Especially recommended is Hennebont for market day! Each cottage has all things required for babies and children from cots/highchairs as well as useful things like a box of toys, children's dvds, beach toys...the list goes on. Nothing has been forgotten at Le Crann. Le Crann's owners are a fountain of knowledge for everything to do in this part of Brittany.
We would and have recommended Le Crann for an ideal get away. Two beautiful houses, amazing hosts and plenty to do made our holiday one to remember. Sue and Steve kept in contact with us when we booked, we could email them with any questions and they would reply promptly. Directions were sent to us which made our journey very easy, which toll roads to take and how much each one would cost. As we was arriving late evening, after a day travelling, our hosts booked our party of 13 into a local restaurant, Steve took us there after showing us around the cottages, introduced us to the owners and we had a beautiful meal, pizzas, pasta, steak which everyone enjoyed and just what we needed.
The grounds of the cottages were beautiful with the wisteria just coming into flower, surrounded by well kept and safe grounds for the children to play in. The facilities offered included, mountain bikes, badminton, tennis, boules, the pools, footballs, and plenty more to keep the children and adults occupied.
The cottages each come with a valuable pack of information which Sue updates regularly, info on walks, historical information, restaurants, beaches, shops, hospitals, pharmacy, doctors and anything else that she thinks that be of use to you. Both very clean and cosy we loved Le Crann from the moment we arrived. The kitchens were well equipped, in wisteria there is settings for upto 16 people to sit comfortably and enjoy a group meal which we did every night! In the cottages books, games, jigsaws, and English TV provided. We had golfers in our party, Steve booked a session for them, they loved the course, only 9 holes but very challenging! If we needed information or help, Sue and Steve were at hand, very friendly and approachable. Brittany is a beautiful place to go. We have recommended the cottages to several friends and we will defiantly be going back to stay. Thank you Sue and Steve for a memorable holiday.
Dear Mel, Thank you for your kind words. It was a pleasure to host you and your family at Le Crann. We would love to welcome you back any time.
Le Crann is situated in the commune of Quistinic, host to the 16th century village of Poul Fetan, immaculately restored to show life at that time. If you want to step further back in time, outside the village of Melrand (15 minutes away) is the Village de l’an mil, a 1000 year old reconstructed medieval village. Close by there are many historic towns and castles to visit including Hennebont, Auray, Pontivy, Vannes and Josselin. Morbihan is renowned for its megalithic stones with so many special places to visit; Carnac with its 3000 standing stones a must see, but also those at Locmariquer, Petit Mont or even catch a boat to the island of Gavrinis. And if that’s not enough, the region has plenty of museums, zoos and parks. Art lovers can follow the 'Art in the Chapel' exhibitions throughout the summer for a tour of the Blavet River chapels. The commune of Quistinic and the Blavet Valley is a walkers and cyclists paradise and the owner has details of many published routes with walking routes leading directly from Le Crann. For a lazy day, take a cruise down the River Blavet, or take one of many boat trips to the off shore islands and around the beautiful inland sea of the Gulf du Morbihan, where you can stop off on some of the larger islands for lunch, a walk and even a cycle. There is hardly a week that goes by without some festival in the region. Lorient hosts the delightful 10 day Inter- Celtique music festival and Josselin and Hennebont hold annually medieval festival. Many regattas are held at the yachting haven of Trinite-sur-Mer. And don't forget those local markets and brocantes for fresh produce or that antique bargain.
