About Cristina Abreu
We are lucky to own a collection of nine fabulous villas in Portugal, most of them in Madeira Island, this is our first in Lisbon. Apart from running the houses I am also a writer, publisher and interior designer. We launched the award winning publishing company, Funchal-Publications in 2005 that has several travel books. This complement of books, history & local knowledge is something we like to pass on to our guests, and makes each holiday experience special.

Why Cristina Abreu chose Belém
Location, location, location. We fell in love with Belem having seen all of Lisbon, this had the best light and atmosphere. Its the complement of beautiful views, a historic building with a box ceiling and other stunning period features that are unique. The houses dates from the 1830´s but has been fully modernised with all mod-cons but keeping all the architectural features intact. We love that it is high up on the third floor like a princes tower that looks onto the river, museums and pretty houses nearby. Just in front is the Belem Library, we have dozens of nice little shops, restaurants and quirky portuguese places to visit.
What makes this Apartment unique
Located by the river, museums, foodie places. The electric tram takes you to Chiado and cais do Sodre. We think the building has enormous charm, once inside the apartment you can relax, enjoy the views, tall ceilings and lots of light from the full length windows and terrace. The interior decoration has focused on a colourful palette, with luxurious fabrics, a nod to Portuguese culture witha bespoke 18th century tile table, custom artwork by Portuguese artists and little details to make your stay as nice as possible.

We spent 5 nights in this absolutely beautiful apartment. Ftom the minute we booked the communication with Cristina (and then Luisa in Lisbon ) was excellent. Luisa met us at the apartment and it literally was a home awaye ftom home. Loads of trams and buses to take you into town and some lovely local residents on the same road. Can't recommend it enough and the service from Cristina and Luisa.
A charming apartment in terrific neighborhood
My son and I visited Portugal for a couple of weeks. We began in Lisbon and stayed at Christina’s lovely, cozy apartment. It’s a charming spot close to museums, restaurants and LX Factory —a fun place to visit.
The apartment was absolutely beautiful. Christina and Luisa were very responsive and met us at the apartment on arrival. It was a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend.
A gem in Belém!
We LOVED the beautiful apartment. Luisa Met us upon arrival after a delay in traffic and she welcomed us so warmly. The place is stunning and beautifully funky and functional. It had everything! We couldn’t be happier. We knew it was on the third floor and it was typical of Portugal. Loved it! We will be back!
Thank you, Thank you. It was a pleasure to host you and we really look forward to seeing you back in Lisbon soon and maybe Madeira in the future as well.
Our best stay in Portugal
We have now spent nights in Lisbon (Belem), obidos, Coimbra and Porto, and nowhere has been as convenient, homey, spacious and comfortable as our cristina’s Place in old town Belem. Just a fantastic experience all the way around. We would stay there again without question. Thank you so much.
Very stylish apartment
The apartment is very stylish with probably the best shower we’ve had on Holiday. Lots of nice personal touches in the apartment. Louisa who met us on our arrival was lovely and showed us how things worked. The apartment is ideally situated for the attractions of Belem of which there are many. You need the tram or bus to reach the other parts of Lisbon, but the stops are right outside the apartment. Some great restaurants and cafes within 10 minutes walk. The apartment is up three flights of very steep stairs so it may be a problem for some guests.
We love this part of Lisbon, by the river in a central location. Nearby you have several museums and monuments such as Palacio da Ajuda, Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, Torre de Belem, Museu dos Coches, Maat Museum and Centro Cultural de Belem so you are right in the heart of Cultural Lisbon. Delicous food on your doorstep, not only are the to die for Pasteis de Belem on our road and Santini icecream parlour, but we also have great Portuguese restaurants, Thai, Chinese, Italian and much more to make it very difficult to eat at home. A good transport network gets you to all the other places in Lisbon such as Chiado, Alfama, Cais do Sodre and even by ferry to the other side of the river. The train station across the road goes to the beaches of Cascais and Estoril. You can choose between modern buses, traditional trams, tuk tuks or walking as that will get you to most places as well. We love the fabulous light, the river views from the balcony and enjoying a glass of wine looking at the Maat museum and river boats going by. There is a very good reason why the President of Portugal lives a couples of houses down the road in the most important palace in Portugal, as Belem is the most scenic part of Lisbon.
