Apartment for 4, close Avignon with use of heated pool and fabulous garden
- english, french, danish
We are a European family in that Peter is Danish, Audrey is English and both our boys, Troy and Ryan are being raised in France. Peter and Audrey both work for International cycling companies where Provence becomes hugely visited for 10 months of the year by keen amateur and professional cyclists. They are busy servicing bikes for rentals, running tours and managing all the administration of clients’ visits to Provence each year.

Why Owner chose Le Thor
We have such an amazing property here in Provence, conveniently close to Avignon. We are very happy to share the garden and pool with people looking to take a holiday. We welcome meeting you and sharing a glass of Rose whilst also respecting your privacy. The apartment is perfect for this purpose.
What makes this Apartment unique
The benefits for staying at the apartment is that we are on site and can therefore guide you with anything you might need to create the perfect holiday. Guidance with something or if anything at the property doesn’t work, we are directly there to fix it. We can give recommendations on where you might like to go, what to see and do, how to entertain the children, where to have an exceptional meal. We can also supply a host of other concierge services, such as wine tastings and market tours, hiking and cycling guides, massages and recommendations for personalized chefs. We are perfectly set up to provide and personalize quality rental bikes and give advice on what routes to take. There is also a lot of secure parking for several cars/bikes and a large willow tree to provide the shade!

A good sized gite with excellent facilities
My wife and I are just completing a week’s stay in this 2 bedroom gite. We were warmly welcomed by Andrea on arrival and have enjoyed our time here. The gite is as advertised and offers good facilities. The weather has been hot (August/early September) but it has been very windy (Mistral) for three of our days. We have swum in the pool on most days and visited a number of local towns. We arrived by TGV and got slightly lost on route but it took only about 45 minutes to arrive here. A medium sized supermarket is about 10 minutes drive away.
Delightful holiday near Avignon
We had a delightful holiday in this property in Le Thor. It was just the right size for a family of four: cleverly designed to fit neatly into the floor space without feeling cramped. The apartment had everything we needed to live comfortably -- a good kitchen, two en-suite bathrooms, fans, air-conditioning (a Godsend in July) -- and the outdoor space was lovely. We had our own private terrace, and access to another terrace beside the swimming pool and family garden. Audrey and her family were a discreet and friendly presence around the place, and our children enjoyed bonding with the family dog. The swimming pool was large enough and warm enough to be the highlight of the holiday for our 13 year old. The property is in an excellent location for visiting Avignon, Arles, Orange, and the villages of the Luberon. It is also close to supermarkets and towns / villages with excellent food markets. I would recommend this property enthusiastically.
This was a very nice apartment and perfectly located near Avignon. It was very easy to tour and our host was very helpful in recommending outings. We will certainly come back and explore even more the region. We highly recommend this property.
Thanks Johanne, we certainly enjoyed the wine tour in Chateauneuf de Pape, another great activity idea from "Provence Experiences" who run in partnership with Provence Seasons to create your personalized holiday itinerary.
Beautiful well equipped French home, friendly and helpful owners and beautiful area
A perfect base for our holiday exploring Provence. We were really looked after by Audrey and Peter. The house is beautiful and kept in the style of the area. On days where we decided to stay at the house there was lots for the children to do whilst we relaxed in the sun. The pool and the trampoline were a big hit with the children. Great local cycle routes all abilities. Beautiful area, we had a fabulous holiday. Thank you Audrey and Peter 😊
Causy, beautiful gem near Avignon
My wife and I have stayed at many rental apartments and houses across Europe, but none came close to our experience at the Willow Tree (our stay was in July-August 2017 - sorry we're writing this so late!).
The location is perfect, making virtually everything to see in Provence (including beautiful and full of life Avignon, very close) 60 minutes away or less by car. The nearby small town of Le Thor (2 minute drive?) has all the shops you need, with a number of decent restaurants and take-outs.
The apartment is simply perfect, with everything you might need.It offers lots of space and is very comfortable. The rooms and bathrooms are impeccable. The kitchen is very well equipped and located at the center of it all. The grounds are very nice and sufficiently large for kids to play. The pool is fantastic and a few feet from the patio door. We especially enjoyed having breakfast on the terrace, right outside the living room/patio door. Being in the countryside, the surroundings were very quiet. The apartment is part of the hosts' home (ground level), but you wouldn't realize it as it has its own entrance (including its own gate to the property), its own terrace on the side of the house, in addition to the one near the pool.
Our hosts Audrey and Peter were warm and charming, yet very discreet. So were their two sons, who were a pleasure to have around, but also very respectful of our tranquility. Audrey and Peter were always there if we had any questions or missing something. They were also very pleasant to chat and share a drink with (beer in the pool under 40 degrees ... aaaaaaaahhhhhh! :-) ).
We could not recommend more and are hoping to visit again!
Absoluetely loved it!
We have just returned from two of the most wonderful weeks in Provence.
This was a first for everyone concerned. It was the first ever letting of The Willow Tree as an apartment by the owners and it was the first time we have ever rented a property where the owners were living on site.
Having booked we were not quite sure how this would work for us as we tend to like to come and go as we please. Audrey, Peter, the two boys – Troy and Ryan – and Jodie, their Labrador, made us feel really part of the family from the outset. In fact they went out of their way to make sure we had the best possible holiday.
The location is ideal; it's quiet and peaceful but only a 5 minute drive through the lanes to the local supermarket and the town of Le Thor. It's also a great base for exploring the villages, towns and markets of Provence.
This really is a lovely apartment and clearly a lot of thought has gone in to the design, décor and furnishings. In fact, all the rooms in The Willow Tree are furnished and equipped to a very good standard and there's just about everything you are likely to need, including Sky, should you feel the need to follow what's happening back home.
The main area consists of an open plan kitchen, dining area and lounge, which leads out on to the main terrace, gardens and the pool area. The garden and pool area really do make this a special and relaxing setting, especially early evening. Even the red squirrels joined us for a pool side lunch time drink.
The pool was ideal for cooling down when you got too hot, which was most of the time, but that said with temperatures in the mid 30s it was just like getting in to a warm but cooling bath.
As for the rest of the apartment, couldn't and wouldn't fault a thing. Only the two of us but the main bedroom was spacious with a really comfortable bed and a good sized en suite shower room and loo. The second was more compact but again it has the advantage of an en-suite shower room and loo.
Having its own separate entrance and parking was a big plus for us as we could come and go without disturbing the 'neighbours'. The secure car parking leads you through to your own private walled patio and the entrance to the apartment. This whole area is a real plus when you just want your own space. It is also a lovely spot any time of the day, whether it's for breakfast, a lunch time or even an early evening BBQ and it's a real sun trap later in the afternoon. Failing that we just enjoyed the last rays of the day
The apartment is set int he countryside but is only a 2 minute drive into the local village of Le Thor. A perfect cycling distance to get the fresh bread in the morning! We are very close, 10 minutes, to the famous antiques town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, with its meandering river and picturesque shops and restaurants. We are very central to exploring all the main attractions of Provence being close to the Luberon region, the Mont Ventoux, Pont du Gard, Les Alpilles and St Remy.
