About John Alexander
I was born and raised in Atlanta. My wife Janie was born in Atlanta and raised in Mableton Ga. We have been married for 36 years. We met in high school. We had all 4 of our boys during the 80's and did the most of our raising of them during the 90's. All the while I was preparing for ministry. We started our church in 1994 and have been full-time ever since. Please visit Church On The Word on facebook. Our sons are grown now and are all quite successful. The two middle boys are still very handsome and eligible bachelors! The oldest and youngest of them have married the most beautiful girls in the world. 3 Grandsons and 2 Grand daughters grace our landscape now. We live in Douglas county and this cabin is our 2nd home. In 2006 I found this unfinished log cabin and finished the build out over time. The pic is of our grandsons catching catfish in the pond. The Lord has blessed us beyond description and we wanted to share our cabin blessing with others.
John Alexander purchased this Cabin in 2006
Why John Alexander chose Cave Spring
I was looking for a prayer cabin when I found this place in the spring of '06. It could have been anywhere I suppose but when I came to Cave Spring, I was so struck by the peace that was here I just had to build it! As it stood, the cabin was an unfinished shell with only a metal roof . No plumbing, electrical, cabinets, windows... nothing! It was just the challenge I was looking for. With some qualified help and a lot of gumption we finished it a year later! For us, some places in N.Georgia were beautiful but seemed overrun with merchant marketing. Cave Spring offered festivals periodically throughout the year like the small towns of yesteryear. It just better suited us.
What makes this Cabin unique
The view of the river channel behind is spectacular! It can be seen from the kitchen or dining windows as well as the back porch. The peace is nearly unimaginable. If you experience it you will live longer without a doubt!! Lay down and take a long nap! Once you are here, you are hidden. Out of sight and out of mind! The pure water that flows from the cave spring has been found to be some of the purest in the country and is also the water that you will find here @ the cabin. We are one of more than 700 customers that our city serves at the water department. Try it for yourself! Taste the water right out of the faucet! I'm sure you will find it to be better than any bottled water you could buy at the grocery store! Fresh, cold and pure! One of the unique features of this cabin property is the fact that it has two waters on it. The catfish pond is 80' x 150' and deep at the north end! Down the slope in back is a floating dock on Big Cedar Creek that is navigable to the Coosa River and Lake Weiss. So, just because you're back from your boat outing doesn't mean you have to stop fishing. The pond is only 20' away from the porch deck! Private and peaceful this is not a cabin in a community of other rentals. It's all by itself!

An awesome spot to relax and unwind! The quiet nights enjoying fireflies makes you one with nature. The ladder instead of stairs to the main sleeping area was unexpected, but we overcame the challenge and it didn't stop us from enjoying this great little cabin. The huge porch was a favorite spot for coffe in the morning as well as, evenings relaxing. The view of the 2 fishing spots from the porch made you want to fish! The fishing was lots of fun!! If I was asked... would you stay there again? The answer would be yes!!!
Excellent relaxation retreat and awesome response from owner!
Nice place to enjoy a weekend away
My husband and I along with our 3 children really enjoyed the cabin. It was so nice to get away from working and just enjoy our family time relaxing together. It was our first get away as a family of 5 and it was great. We hope to return in the near future.
We really enjoyed our stay in your cute and cozy cabin. We especially loved the porch views and the fishing. Your thoughtful details made it so nice. Thank you!
We had a great time staying here. House had everything we needed. It rained most of the weekend, but was so relaxing sitting on the front porch watching the rain. We spent time watching movies (great selection). Would definitely recommend and we will definitely come back.
Overall a great place to rent! Enjoyed our time to regroup from the choas of our lives
Great relaxing time! The pathway to the dock was a little grown up and difficult to get up and down. But over all, we loved it. Glad we went
Advertised sleeps 6 but not really
Quaint clean cabin, but thought there would be beds for 6. There is a foam mat and two blow up mattresses. There were only two pillows. We only stayed for one of the two nights rented, very disappointed. We were later informed there were pillows in a dresser (but I had checked the dresser and there were no pillows there, only extra linens)and that there were pillows in a lower kitchen cabinet (I did not check there so there could have been some there). One poor night’s sleep was enough for most of our party to return home. The rest transferred to another VRBO that had beds instead of mats and inflatable mattresses. A nice place for 2 or 3, but not the 6 advertised.
We regret this tenant had an uncomfortable experience. We checked our description on the site to make sure of our accuracy. All is as described. I went personally to the cabin to check for any lacking items there as well. All advertised items are there including 6 pillows and 2 sofa pillows. As described on the site, we offer a queen sized bed in the loft, a double sofa bed in the living room. 2 air mattresses and a mattress pad. To be fair, this tenant booked the cabin in January 2019 for a May arrival. They informed us that there would be 2 adults and 3 children. Upon their arrival they informed us that they were instead bringing 6 adults and 0 children. This gave us no cause for concern as the description is very accurate as to our amenities and felt sure they were fully informed and would be comfortable. Also, we have often hosted 2 couples with children who have left rave reviews. The most disappointing thing about this review for us is that she represents us and a misleading host saying, we had no beds, only mats and inflatable mattresses. This is totally untrue! Please disregard this review with it's false statements and book with confidence. Please read our other reviews. To be certain, we welcome constructive criticism of our cabin. Our tenants (many of which are regular and repeat tenants) have helped us improve our offer to you by pointing out things that we could do to make the cabin stay much nicer. Once again, We have 2 beds, 1 mat and 2 air mattresses. A very comfortable, extremely clean and beautiful place for 2-6 guests! Thank you for reading.
This log cabin is unique in many ways. There are two waters on the property! A Catfish pond on one side and a river in back. Two country porches adorn this very quiet and private place. Brushy Branch boat ramp is less than a mile away.
Cave Spring Ga. is truly one of the state's best kept secrets. A very small town that has everything for comfort and convenience but has not been so "commercialized". You will feel a Blast From The Past as you drive through the old town. Revisit a by-gone-era in the modern day. Rich in Native-American history, Cave Spring Ga. boasts a pre-historic pure - water spring that flows continually out of a mountain cave. Once the home of the Georgia Cherokee Nation, Chief David Vann kept his people in this peaceful valley for many generations. The cave and the mountain spring is all that remains of a people forced to migrate west after President Andrew Jackson ordered what became known as the "Trail of Tears". Visit the original "Trail" and drink the water from the spring. The State of Ga. tests the water regularly and has found it to be among the purest in the country; even as pure as the waters that flow from the mountains of Colorado! Antique stores, gift shops, restaurants and beautiful Rolater Park await you. Don't forget to stop by The Blue Willow consignment shop and see my friends, Linda and Wayne. Browse through the General Store at the stop light and talk to Mr. Charles Ledbetter. Tell'm all that Pastor John and Janie sent you. Please visit the official website of Cave Spring Ga. and plan your visit during one of our many festivals that take place in the downtown area during the year. Learn of our rich history before you visit. Only 15 Minutes from Rome Ga., another city rich in history, has all the national merchants. When you get back to the cabin, slow down and enjoy the absolute PEACE that will be uninterrupted. Once you experience that, You'll be back, I guarantee you!
