résumé de notre séjour en terre toscane

  • 4 of 5

Maison impeccable. Lieu dépaysant

  • 5 of 5

Car: recommended

The village of Fabbrica was born around the year 1000, like the wonderful Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta, in Roman style. Fabbrica was a battle ground between Pisa and Florence, the old part of the town is well preserved and represents very well the typical medieval village, such as the alleys. The village is about 200 meters. s. L.M. and turning around we notice that we are surrounded by immense hills that vary in color according to the seasons. With the car in a short time we can get to the famous cultural historical places such as Volterra, San Gimignano, Pisa, Siena, Florence as well as the beaches of the Tyrrhenian coast.

The Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta, located in the village near the house, dates back to the 10th century and has a Romanesque stone structure. Inside there are two rows of monolithic columns as well as some valuable works of the Della Robbia school. One of them, the statue of Sant'Antonio Abate is attributed to the same Luca della Robbia. Other interesting works in glazed terracotta are attributed to Benedetto Buglioni. Of particular value is the table depicting the Child Jesus in a playful attitude with Giovanni Battista and other saints, by Filippino Lippi. A seventeenth-century table by the Lucchese artist Paolo Guidotti represents the last supper. From the Longobard period they are a representation on the facade of the church, framed by a series of small arches and an architrave inside depicting a hunting scene.
