We loved the apartment and the location is amazing! Great restaurants, bars and supermarkets are literally on the doorstop. There is a great beach in easy walking distance, even with two young children & everything we needed for the day! The apartment has a lovely feel to it and is very comfortable. Communications with Francesco before and during our stay were great. We had all the information we needed and were met at the accommodation at a time that suited us perfectly.
Lerici is lovely and we took a great boat trip from the harbour (a minutes walk from the apartment!) to the Cinque Terre.
There was only one down side for me - the mosquitoes in the garden were vicious. If you normally get bitten don’t go in the garden without repellent!
Otherwise this accommodation is fab!
Too many rules!!! Italy we’ve fallen out of love with you.
Booking this property & paying for it was easy but from the minute I arranged a meeting time to enter the property it became a chore. The owner must have texted me at least three times reminding me about the Euro tourist tax which had to be paid- having parted with a princely sum already I did not think so many reminders were necessary. The reference to having to pay extra for rubbish being removed was irritating and became more so every time we asked for basics e.g. more towels- you can’t expect people to use the same towels for 6 days in a very hot, humid Italy where suntan cream is a necessity! But the owner initially would not allow us to wash them ( it was FORBIDDEN) but instead we could pay for clean ones!!!
Italy already being so expensive, it is understandable that we were expecting basics to be included. For example the toilet rolls that were left for us looked like two half used U.K. rolls ( I checked and in the supermarket they do indeed sell these tiny rolls) Of course we ran out and had the embarrassment of having to ask for more & were asked if we had seen there was another roll! Yes we had seen the other half roll! In the end we bought some tissues and made do- although a day later the owner said he would reimburse us. We stopped asking him for anything in the end because we knew the answer would be - yes that will be an extra ?euros! On arrival we reviewed a very long contract which, tired and hot, I had to rush through and sign. This could all have been sent in advance so on arrival I could have simply signed it. The owner had told us what times we could arrive by and when we gave him a time he came back with a time that suited his ‘helper’! The apartment was nice enough but I spent an uncomfortable night without sheets because for some reason ,only known to him , the owner assumed me and my Mum would be sleeping in the same bed!! ( I think he was trying to save on linen!) There then followed a film noir- type scenario as to how we would receive the linen- a parcel will be left at the door at 6pm etc. Too many rules for recycling ( not his fault) and Italy is noisy as hell no wonder everyone is in a bad mood- the recycling vans come at 2am in the morning every week day, if you manage to get back to sleep the dogs the people and even the birds will soon have you awake again. Sorry no more Italy - after 18 years loyalty enough is enough.
thank you for your review but I'm sorry it is offensive to us and the entire Italy. In the ad everything was clear. In a professional residence or hotel you allow yourself to leave the accomodation full of rubbish? In a professional residence or hotel where you have not paid for the linen change, do you ask them for free? Do you ask to eat for free in a restaurant? We kindly ask you to respect our work. Moreover, we have a lot of whatsapp messages with you. We have allowed you to clean sheets and towels at home and we left you everything you wanted out of the door not to simulate a film noir but for education: you chose to get them that way!! You are a liar as in other points of your review: you offend us and the entire Italy because we did not give for free what you asked with rudeness and haste. Shameful. Best regards
Lovely central location
The apartment itself is lovely; high ceilings, big rooms, clean, the bathroom even has a bath which is something I haven't come across that often in Italy.
It is quite strange that the apartment is on the 1st floor of a block, but has a pretty big garden, because it is built into the side of a hill; a lovely quirky feature! The garden itself could do with a bit of love and care, it could be lovely if someone cleared the overgrowth etc and put in some climbing flowers; it would make a real difference.
There are loads of mosquitos unfortunately, so any time we went out there we got bitten (even with spray) so we didn't bother. We had a dog with us, so it was great for us and probably the main reason we booked the apartment in the first place.
The kitchen is well equipped, but the pans etc are enormous and the sink is a small bowl sink, so it makes it a bit awkward to use. The agent/owner did not provide any chopping knifes (for safety reasons) but did get some delivered when we complained, after we struggled to slice bread and chop vegetables with butter knifes.
All the windows have sliding mosquito nets, except the kitchen/diner. It looked like it hd been broken and possibly removed and not replaced; this is a massive shame and really was difficult to not be able to have the doors open in the afternoon/evening or the mosquitos descended in droves, especially when cooking. It wasn't too hot when we were there, but I can imagine it would be really uncomfortable when the weather was really hot.
The furniture is a combination of Ikea and old pieces; it a bit of a juxtaspostition, not my cup of tea, but rather than feel like it was a style statement, it felt like bit that were not wanted from the owners house.
All in all it has a great location, just a short walk from the harbour and lots of restaurant and shops. There isn't a great deal to do in Lerici, but it is a very pretty place and you can get a boat from the harbour to take you around the Cinqueterra.
Dear Guest, thanks for the review. It makes us very happy that you found the apartment lovely and you appreciate it. Thank you very much for your suggestions! Garden and apartment are exactly like in the pictures and descriptions! All past guests have found suitable knives to cut bread and vegetables: I'm sure you appreciated that we brought you others. The mosquito net was broken just the day before your arrival and will certainly be replaced: in the period of your stay it was not useful. We are sorry we did not let you know the best things to do and to visit in Lerici which are many more than those that can offer the Cinque Terre since lerici includes a much larger territory and has many more connections. Best regards.
The apartment was spacious and very comfortable, and the very central but quiet location suited us perfectly. Lerici is such a nice town to stay in and offers so many opportunities for wonderful walks and other activities, and Francesco was very helpful both before and during our stay. However, we were puzzled by his request that we dispose of 4 bags of rubbish ourselves( taking them down to the town square) before leaving, as in our experience this is usually the responsibility of the landlord or cleaner.
Dear guest, thanks for the excellent rating! About waste, we give a choiche to the guests: to leave it at home and inform us about the quantity or leave the house free. Just as in all professional rentals, if guests leave waste at home we could ask a very little extra cost (Euro 5/10/15) for the disposal. Following our advices and municipal rules, it is easy to dispose of the garbage every day but if we find lots of bags we have to pay the landfill. Thanks for cooperation!
Big apartment with massive garden close to the beach.
First of all, Fransesco was one of the best hosts i have ever dealt with. Very friendly and extremely accommodating. Had a great stay in the apartmant which was clean and big. Will stay there again.
Very glad for your excellent comment and rating. It is really a pleasure to assist guests! We look forward to hosting you again in this or other properties.
If you're wondering if you should stay here, the answer is yes!
This is a wonderful property in an excellent location in Lerici. My wife, 1-year-old son and I stayed here for 4 weeks in March and found everything to be exactly as pictured.
Francesco (the host) was truly outstanding, going above and beyond our expectations to address any concerns we had. The apartment is clean and bright, and the back garden is very large with picturesque views of the pastel buildings that rise around the property. There are lemon and cherry trees in the back that were blossoming during our visit, and it was truly peaceful when framed against the stone walls surrounding the garden.
The building has an elevator, which made it very easy to go out with our son in his stroller. There is also a grocery store just a few blocks up the street with everything we needed for our stay. Even in March (a bit before tourist season) we found most of the restaurants and shops to be open.
We were hesitant to book this property with no previous reviews, but we were very glad we did. Overall, we had an excellent stay and would recommend the property and the host very highly.
Thanks for the great review! We hope to welcome you again soon!
Dominated by the imposing castle of San Giorgio, one of Europe's largest sea fortresses, Lerici is situated at the eastern end of the "Golfo dei Poeti" ("Gulf of Poets"). The main attraction of this area is definitely the sea which, between Lerici, San Terenzo, Fiascherino and Tellaro, alternates rocky areas with free and private, fully-equipped beaches. Lerici is also the point where boats arrive and depart for Portovenere, the Cinque Terre and, during the summer, Portofino. Sporting activities are many and available all year round: sailing, with the prestigious School of Santa Teresa, diving, wind surfing as well as hiking, mountain-biking, tennis and golf. The Natural Park of Montemarcello-Magra and the neighboring Natural Parks of Portovenere and 5 Terre, which include uninhabited islands, sea caves and vast marine protected areas, also allow moments of relaxation, adventure and romance in the midst of nature and unforgettable landscapes. Places to visit in the area include the town of Sarzana (7 km), the archaeological site of Luni and the famous white marble quarries of Carrara in the Apuan Alps (15 km), fashionable Versilia and Forte dei Marmi with numerous nightclubs frequented by celebrities (30 km), Lucca and Pisa (65 km), Genova and Parma (100 km) and Firenze (150 km) as well as the nearby La Spezia, all easily reachable thanks to the A12 motorway exits of Sarzana and La Spezia, both just 8 km away.
