Mountain house for nature lovers and close facilities

The property has been renovated to a good standard and is very well equipped. The exposed brickwork and solid wood floors/ceilings are very attractive and the house is much larger and more spacious than it appears from the outside. The double height ceiling in the master bedroom is just amazing! The front of the property gets the sun all day in September and some good views can be seen around the other buildings in the village.

Driving up to the village is via a single track lane with multiple hairpin bends and very steep drop-offs, not sure how accessible this would be in the winter without a 4 wheel drive car..Parking outside the property is difficult in a larger car/SUV - this is because the lanes are very very narrow, but there is a safe public car park only meters away.

This property would NOT be suitable for anyone who has difficulty with steep or uneven surfaces.The staircase to the first floor looks stunning (a tree trunk with inset wooden treads) but was not easy to negotiate as there are no handrails at either side and the treads are very narrow and uneven.

Unfortunately one of the treads broke during our visit and another fell out - leaving the staircase extremely dangerous and causing a minor injury to one of the party - it could have been a lot worse than it was as he thankfully fell backwards and managed to prevent falling from top to bottom!

Evelyne (the owner) was extremely apologetic and I expect that the problems will be rectified very soon. Communication was a little poor - but only because we had no Wi-Fi or phone signal at the house and had to send all communications once we got into the town. The responses to our problems was prompt and appropriate.

Overall a lovely spot - just a shame about the problems that we encountered.
