Comfortable, spacious, quiet, modern, well located property
Three ageing friends shared this comfortable modern house for eight nights in July 2017, we enjoyed the space of the three bedrooms and the attractive garden as well as cooking and eating in the kitchen. The owners have not offered the property for long but everything was beautifully provided, any questions we had were quickly answered by Phil, both before and during our visit. Everything works well, lots of hot water in the well fitted bathroom and comfy beds and sofas. After touring all over Cornwall from the Eden Project to an evening at the Minack Theatre, we needed something to collapse on. Easy car parking too.
A number of pubs are within a few minutes drive but The Anvil in Cubert is only about 5 minutes walk via the churchyard, we had an excellent Sunday lunch at The Anvil, lots of walks around or it is only a mile or so to the NT car park at the gorgeous Holywell Bay. If you watch BBC's Poldark, you will recognise the beach with its distinctive rocky islands as the background to many scenes, although the beach at low tide is much bigger than it looks on TV!
In The Anvil, we picked up detailed tourist maps of the surrounding villages and beaches, certainly plenty of places to go within 30 minutes drive or less. Maybe my favourite was Chapel Porth beach and the walk around the headland to see the ruined Wheal Coates tin mine standing above the sea, one of the iconic views of Cornwall.
Newquay is only three miles away, we walked the beaches one sunny morning, watching the trainee surfers and then back through the town, it all seemed much smarter than I remember from decades ago. Morrisons and a Lidl supermarkets on the outskirts of Newquay are convenient.
The house looks at the spire of Cubert Church, currently undergoing a major restoration. In a few hundred years time, some future crafts person may notice the names of Richard, Jeremy and William etched into the underside of a new church roof tile (for a £5 donation - we are not vandals!), that is quite a way of recording an enjoyable Cornish holiday :-)
Comfortable, Modern, Well Euippped, Quiet.
We had a fantastic stay at this property. Everything we needed was there. The house is in immaculate condition and is very well equipped. It is warm, comfortable and modern. Parking and access were no problem and the area is nice and quiet. The owner, Phil, was very helpful and communication was spot on.
Cubert is only 3 miles from Newquay and 7 miles from Perranporth, it is an ideal base for touring. The village itself is lovely with a great pub, The Anvil, where we had some excellent meals, a village shop, a bakery / cafe and a chip shop.
Highly recommended and we certainly intend to visit again.
