Our family travel between London, Madrid and Gaucin throughout the year enjoying the contrast of the city and country. As lovers of travel, we have lived in parts of Asia and Europe and discovered Andalucia a few years ago - it was hard to resist the dramatic landscapes, the tranquility, food, culture and sunshine. Having the Rif Mountains and Morocco only a stones throw away also attracted us to the area. In the winter, Gaucin offers a perfect retreat for curling up in front of the fire as the smell of wood smoke fills the air, and equally in the summer, the lively, fun and sunshine-filled atmosphere makes for a perfect summery escape.
Pasca purchased this House in 2016
What makes this House unique
This charming house is perfectly positioned on the edge of the village - it is lovely and quiet but still within easy reach of village facilities, restaurants and bars. The house has oodles of personality and character, positioned over lots of different levels. With a private pool at the bottom of the windy tropical garden and plenty of terraces to relax on with stunning views towards Africa, it's no wonder we fell in love with this house. The house is often used by us as a family and has a lovely homely and rustic ambiance - we hope you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Beautiful villa in a beautiful town
Our family of five spent a fabulous ten days in Pasca's home in the hills looking down towards Gibraltar - stunning views, well equipped villa, refreshing pool. Numerous restaurants and small supermarkets on our doorstep and some great day trips if you manage to drag yourself away from the villa! We went to Marbella, Gibraltar and Ronda. Our plans to make the most of of what must be stunning hiking trails in the area fell by the wayside as it was just too hot and too tempting to be utterly lazy! We made delicious lemonade from the lemons in the garden, made regular use of the BBQ and the teens were grateful for the wifi and Netflix 😉 in the evenings. The neighborhood kittens kept us entertained too :) all in all a great relaxing family break and we are keen to come back to the area in cooler months to try out those hiking trails. Pasca too was very responsive and pleasure to deal with - thank you.
Thank you Sarah for your comments and for being such a great guest. So pleased you and your family enjoyed your stay and we do hope you come back to go on some of the lovely walks around Gaucin. You'll always be welcome. Pasca.
Photos don’t do it justice
Photos don’t do this place justice - couldn’t get enough of the views. Thanks for a lovely holiday!
Thank you for a great holiday
Pasca and her family were amazing in communication right from the start, and gave us lots of recommendations and tips - the house was lovely, clean and comfortable with lots of character. It was a fab location and we really got to enjoy the village but the views from the house were the best thing and also the pool. Such a relaxing holiday, we are thinking of returning 2019!!
Lovely traditional style property in Gaucin.
Great property, well kitted out with everything you need. Four good sized bedrooms (one a garden room so separate from house). Lovely pool area with three separate sunbathing terraces and upstairs terrace has the most amazing views. Gaucin is lovely, with bars and restaurants and good area for watching vultures and eagles. Booking and check in and check out all easy and Ellie the housekeeper was really helpful. Would definitely recommend it and would go back. One thing to note is driving in Gaucin was interesting as roads are very narrow but would be ok if you had smallish vehicle. We didn't have small vehicle so we parked on edge of village and walked in (10 mins) which was no problem.
Well equipped character village house
Three generations arrived late in the evening, our minibus driver having braved the incredibly narrow lanes to deliver us all to the front door of the house. Ellie, who manages the house gave us a quick overview of the house & village and was on hand to answer any queries throughout our stay. We arrived during the feria - a weekend of celebrations for the village & surrounding area.
We had visited this area of Spain on many occasions so chose to stay in the village for the whole week relaxing: enjoying walks, the small pool and eating out.
We tried a lot of the local eateries and weren't disappointed with any of them. ( Zoro's portions are huge). The local butcher's shop was fantastic & they were so helpful ( the shop always looked closed as the shutters were down to keep out the flies). Opening days and times for restaurants and grocery shops were an ever changing mystery!
The house is well maintained, beautiful bedding, nice rugs & cushions and the kitchen is very well equipped ( a few more plastic glasses for the pool area would be good).
So many books! Adult & childrens. And lots of games and toys.
The area around the pool is a little cramped for 8 people but there are lots of terraces with tables and chairs and we loved having breakfast every morning on the main terrace enjoying the magnificent views across to Gibraltar. Also a good spot for viewing the huge variety of birds ( including vultures).
Thank you Pasca for sharing your delightful home with us.
Lovely, well equipped house
Gaucin is a lovely village, and a little cooler than the coast. There are some steep hills, and the house has a few steps as it is built on a hill. There is everything you need for a relaxing stay.
The location of the house is in the middle of the village making it easy to access all amenities. There are several food shops, supermarkets, restaurants and tapas bars in the immediate area. Gaucin sits at the head of the stunning Genal valley with lots of historic white villages to be explored. The surrounding areas are ideal for hiking and nature lovers. Gaucin is in the heart of Andalucía with its many long held cultural traditions. There is a flamenco festival in July, a summer feria in August and an annual fiesta bull run every Easter. Seville, Cordoba, Jerez, Ronda, Malaga, Gibraltar, Tarifa and Granada are all historical towns within easy reach of Gaucin.
