Originally from London,we fell in love with this beautiful and peaceful part of Somerset and bought our house (just up the track from the cottage) seventeen years ago as our weekend place. I now live here full-time and my boys go to school in Bath.
Nick purchased this Cottage in 2016
Why Nick chose Mendip District
We live on the edge of the Mendips, just outside the village of Stoke St Michael, on the road to Oakhill. There is lots of walking to be done straight from the cottage. A particular favourite of ours takes us down through the valley to Stoke Bottom and the nature reserves of Edford and Harridge Woods, which are owned by the Somerset Wildlife Trust. For food shopping, there is a Londis shop and post office, a ten minute walk away in Stoke St Michael. Local pubs within walking distance include the Oakhill Inn (great pub food and draught beers), The Knatchbull Arms, Stoke St Michael (friendly pub with a more basic offering) and The Duke of Cumberland at Edford. For a real gourmet experience, jump in the car and try the Talbot Inn in the beautiful village of Mells (5 miles)

A lovely country cottage
A beautiful, picturesque cottage with scenic views. Very peaceful at night which was great for us with a sleeping toddler. Nick was so friendly, he even provided toys for our daughter to play with. A lovely little break away from reality.
Great location that was close to many places we wanted to see. Beautiful country and fantastic accommodations. Owner Nick is a very gracious host who made us feel truly welcome. Would recommend for any traveler to the region.
Excellent country getaway
Excellent location with stunning views and close to many local amenities. The cottage is fully equipped for a great stay.
Lovely short break
A well equipped, compact modern cottage in a pretty rural location, within walking distance of shop and pub in village. Nick was very welcoming, with advice about things to do in the area. A lovely few days away... we should have booked for longer!
The cottage has everything you need. We had a lovely sunny weekend and enjoyed the gorgeous walks from the house.
Nick was helpful and left us a welcome pack with lost to do, together with yummy chocolate biscuits. I’m sure we will be back again.
A lovely little cottage set in a fantastic rural landscape.
The owner was lovely and only down the lane so available if anything was needed.
We had two young children and the cottage really worked for our young family.
Would highly recommend to any one looking to stay in this area
