About the property

Stunning Mountain Cabin With 12 Acres Of Nature Including Pond And River Access

Enjoy nature at its best!! This beautiful log cabin – the river phoenix – is tucked serenely in the woods and has much to offer for travelers seeking relaxation and mountain bliss. Nestled at the base of phoenix mountain and with the new river just steps away—it is a spectacular wooded haven.

There are approximately 12 acres with walking trails for hiking and enjoying nature.. Some flat areas to walk as well for those of us not ready for an uphill hike. From the back deck, you can hear the waterfall which is just up from the home and falls into a creek which runs the side border of the property. Creek noises will lull you to sleep at night and keep you company while you rock on the front porch. Don’t be surprised to see a family of deer cross in front of the cabin, particularly early morning and late evening. Enjoy watching the squirrels come right up to the front porch in search of the locally grown corn in the feeder, and birds gather around their own feeder for a birdseed treat.

Just steps away from the cabin is a sweet little pond with well-fed koi and a small water wheel. Please enjoy feeding the fish--- but no catching them!! The river is just down the road, a short drive or walk where you can fish and enjoy the beauty of the scenic new river.

The covered front porch is a great place to rock and relax, and spend time re-acquainting with your family and friends. Turn those cell phones and gadgets off and enjoy the sounds of nature including the local wildlife and the babbling creek.

The cabin features a great open kitchen and living room with hardwood floors and a corner fireplace (it’s electric but gives a beautiful ambiance and warmth to the room). There is a master bedroom with four poster bed, walk-in closet and full bath. A door from the bedroom leads straight out onto the wrap around deck.

The second smaller bedroom features a second walk-in closet and a rustic metal bed with quilts that will remind you of grandma’s house and days gone by.

The half bath and laundry are closeted in the hallway and in easy reach. Each room is decorated with local nature scenes captured by an ashe county photographer with an eye for the beauty of nature all around us.

Offered exclusively by ashe rental agency, the river phoenix can be reserved for your solo retreat or family getaway…. A perfect spot for the newlyweds or anniversary celebrations as well.

Cabin does have WIFI

Guestbook comments from the manager

Really liked staying at your cabin, The River Phoenix in Warrensvillle.

It was convenient to everything, yet we felt like we had complete privacy.

Went down to the River and put our canoes in and went down to the next bridge. It was quite a ride.

Built a cozy fire outside and had our dinner at the picnic area.

We want to come back and celebrate our 5th Anniversary at the River Phoenix in September.

Exactly What We Were Looking For

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin! We were a party of 5 friends looking for a secluded getaway but also accessible to a nearby town (West Jefferson in this case) and outdoor activities. This place delivered. We knew we'd like it the moment we crossed the low water bridge and started up a pretty steep incline to the cabin. There are no neighbors directly next to the house, which is nice. It was a great opportunity to relax with friends around the outdoor fire pit and and a to cook a few great meals. There's a queen bed, a double bed, a couch, and a cot. The five us all slept comfortably. There's a very good chance that this will be an annual rental for us. Thanks!

Very clean and cozy cabin

  • 4 of 5

We were very fortunate to find this cabin - we were evacuating SWFL from Hurricane Irma. Owner was very considerate and allowed us to bring both our cat and dog, due to the circumstances. We originally booked from Thurs to Monday, but wound up staying until Fri morning to avoid the traffic and lack of fuel issues on the roads back to home. Again, owner/broker was very nice and let us stay. This rustic cabin has all modern conveniences, was very clean and cozy. The only minor complaint we have is that the wifi didn't work on our devices until the night before we left. However, that being said, it was nice to unplug and have some quality family time. 😉

Clean and cozy

  • 5 of 5

We had a really good time here. Cabin was very clean and cozy. My two dogs had a good time too. One minor thing, We had hard time to find here at first but it was kind of my fault. i didn't read the direction from email and was just following phone navi. It led us different place. After we drove down the mountain until where we can use phone call, I called property manager office, nice lady told me very details how to get here. I wanted to thank you again.

We might come back here again.
