About the property

Stunning Mountain Cabin With 12 Acres Of Nature Including Pond And River Access

Enjoy nature at its best!! This beautiful log cabin – the river phoenix – is tucked serenely in the woods and has much to offer for travelers seeking relaxation and mountain bliss. Nestled at the base of phoenix mountain and with the new river just steps away—it is a spectacular wooded haven.

There are approximately 12 acres with walking trails for hiking and enjoying nature.. Some flat areas to walk as well for those of us not ready for an uphill hike. From the back deck, you can hear the waterfall which is just up from the home and falls into a creek which runs the side border of the property. Creek noises will lull you to sleep at night and keep you company while you rock on the front porch. Don’t be surprised to see a family of deer cross in front of the cabin, particularly early morning and late evening. Enjoy watching the squirrels come right up to the front porch in search of the locally grown corn in the feeder, and birds gather around their own feeder for a birdseed treat.

Just steps away from the cabin is a sweet little pond with well-fed koi and a small water wheel. Please enjoy feeding the fish--- but no catching them!! The river is just down the road, a short drive or walk where you can fish and enjoy the beauty of the scenic new river.

The covered front porch is a great place to rock and relax, and spend time re-acquainting with your family and friends. Turn those cell phones and gadgets off and enjoy the sounds of nature including the local wildlife and the babbling creek.

The cabin features a great open kitchen and living room with hardwood floors and a corner fireplace (it’s electric but gives a beautiful ambiance and warmth to the room). There is a master bedroom with four poster bed, walk-in closet and full bath. A door from the bedroom leads straight out onto the wrap around deck.

The second smaller bedroom features a second walk-in closet and a rustic metal bed with quilts that will remind you of grandma’s house and days gone by.

The half bath and laundry are closeted in the hallway and in easy reach. Each room is decorated with local nature scenes captured by an ashe county photographer with an eye for the beauty of nature all around us.

Offered exclusively by ashe rental agency, the river phoenix can be reserved for your solo retreat or family getaway…. A perfect spot for the newlyweds or anniversary celebrations as well.

Cabin does have WIFI

Guestbook comments from the manager

Really liked staying at your cabin, The River Phoenix in Warrensvillle.

It was convenient to everything, yet we felt like we had complete privacy.

Went down to the River and put our canoes in and went down to the next bridge. It was quite a ride.

Built a cozy fire outside and had our dinner at the picnic area.

We want to come back and celebrate our 5th Anniversary at the River Phoenix in September.

A Private Piece of Paradise

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was clean and well kept. It was the perfect setting to get away and hide in the woods for a few days! Not too far from West Jefferson where you can enjoy some local shops and restaurants. There is no internet, so enjoy the ability to unplug and return to a simpler time of books and conversation. Definitely recommend!

The property was as expected upon arrival.

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very nice, clean, and ready for our short vacation in the NC Mountains. We were lucky, it snowed about 3 inches the first night and covered the ground for most of our stay. I would recommend this cabin.

Suggestions; Cooking utensils are very limited so you might want to consider bringing your favorite pot, pan, with you. Also it advertises satellite TV but it has no sports such as ESPN. (Very basic package).

Beautiful, Peaceful, and relaxing stay!

  • 4 of 5

We were fortunate to be able to stay in such a cute and quaint cabin. It was everything I was hoping for. Its seclusion and peaceful surroundings were very much enjoyed and soaked up. The surroundings were just as I 'd hope with its trails, Koi pond, and water flowing, which were fun to explore. Inside the cabin you automatically felt what a cabin feel should be. It was very clean, tidy, and inviting. The only suggestion I would give to make this cabin a five star rating would be to change out the mattresses on each bed. They were very noisy and saggy, but overall The River Phoenix will be a place I will suggest to others. Thank you!

Perfect for Fall Break!

  • 5 of 5

Excellent cabin - very private, very clean, lots of amenities, a great base camp for mountain adventures! We stayed for a long weekend with our 4 small children and planned day trips to Mt. Jefferson; Stone Mountain, NC; and Grayson Highlands, VA - all very convenient to the cabin location. We enjoyed the front porch immensely - morning coffee in the brisk forest air and very safe gates/railings for our 18-month old. Watching the fish in the pond and making s'mores around the chiminea out back (thanks for the supply of firewood) was a lot of fun for our kids. We found plenty of options for dinner in Jefferson and West Jefferson (try Boondock's) and breakfast at the Whistlestop Cafe in Warrensville was hearty! The mountain setting of Warrensville and the New River was just what we were looking for and the cabin was tucked away in the woods without another house in sight. It was a memorable vacation for our family - thank you!

Cabin getaway

  • 5 of 5

Me and my husband really enjoyed getting to stay here for the couple days that we did. It was very peaceful and so clean. A creek ran behind it so you could enjoy the sound of the water. The wrap around porch made it easy to enjoy the views all around. Although it was nestled away in the woods we still could get to downtown to enjoy dinner together.
