We spent the week of Thanksgiving at the Rein Retreat and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The house was very comfortable and had all the amenities needed to pull off a Thanksgiving meal which is rare. We typically camp and can improvise, but no need here.
The dock is great. Spent numerous hours fishing and brought our boat also and had access to lots of great fishing. Cleaning table with lights on it was a huge plus versus cleaning fish on a cooler top.
We highly recommend this rental and hope to be back.
The Rein Retreat was pricey for what it has to offer and for not staying during peak season. The sleeping accommodations were decent. However, the room with the king sized bed has a ceiling fan on a very low ceiling that hangs at a very dangerous height for someone over 5'10" tall. The blades extend well beyond the end of the bed so if it were running and you weren't careful, you'd get a pretty nasty laceration on your head. All other sleeping (and fan) situations were fine. The interior is a bit dated but adequate. The AC froze up while we were there and it got a bit warm but the owner's and management were quick with a service tech to repair. The tech stated that, at a minimum, it's in need of repair for a leak to avoid recurring issues. Although the description didn't mention it, there is a a washer and dryer, both located in a "step-down" room off of the bunk bed A&M room. There were plenty of pots, pans and utensils and an abundance of bed linens, blankets and towels. The living room seating is adequate but to take advantage of all the couch seating, one has to sit under the TV. This proved to be a hinderance while trying to watch the Astros on their journey to a World Series Championship. We brought in some of our own chairs to make for better viewing/seating. The yard down to the canal is exceptional if you have pets or kids; very large with a swing, horseshoes and lots of room to run and play. The fishing dock has excellent lighting and a large, green light directed at the water to attract fish. Fishing from the dock was poor that could be timing. It may be a bit far up the creek to maintain good salinity to support some of the native bay species but - again - that might vary on time of year, temps, etc. All in all we had a good time but we've been able to stay at other properties in Sargent many times before that were a better value with at least the same if not better accommodations.
My family and I had a great time, the house has everything you need and very clean. Fishing off the dock at night under the lights was awesome when the tide was running. No cell phone service for AT&T which made the trip that much more enjoyable. We will be going back.
We had a blast. Me and the guys for three days and me and the kids for three days. All loved it. The owners and the people that clean up are great people and very accommodating. We are all looking forward to go back again next year. My teenage kids loved it so much they want to move there.
We loved our stay here! The house had everything we needed. The property was beautiful. The dock was a great place to hang out. We will stay here again!
Second time going here and coming back this summer. Amazing yard catch fish right off the dock all day. The kids and dogs love this place.
