Beautiful large and spacious home in a lovely small and quiet town.
We were a family of eight and this house was perfect.
Five large bedrooms and four spacious bathrooms, huge living room and kitchen.
Very close to the beach, Foz do Arelho and the lovely city of Caldas da Rainha.
Beds are very comfortable, water pressure is very good with unlimited hot water.
The community was friendly and safe.
I would definitely return here again.
Thanks for the lovely review.
We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay in Casa Ave Maria.
We would like to thank you and your family for being such careful and considerate guests during your stay.

Foz do Arelho is just 3 kilometres away and has several sandy beaches that carry the prestigious Blue Flag accreditation. The sheltered Obidos lagoon offers many different activities such as swimming, sailing, kite surfing, wind surfing, fishing and walking or cycling along the growing number of nature trails. There is also an Atlantic facing beach which provides superb surfing spots and sea fishing.
The Obidos lagoon is the largest saltwater lagoon in Portugal with the lakes and waterways extending inland for 6 kilometers and is a haven for a multitude of wildlife. There are several bars, cafes and restaurants that line the waterfront and promenade at Foz beach whilst many other really fine restaurants lie in the main town just 1 km away. If water sports are your preference our local agent can help book your activities as well.
Keen golfers will find a number of recognised golf courses within a short drive of the villa.
Caldas da Rainha, a medieval, thermal spa town has its origins in the 15th century and can be reached within a 5 minute drive. Here you can shop in the daily fruit, flower and fish markets where you'll find the best the region has to offer in terms of fresh produce. It is the major town of the area and is provided with all supermarket branches, many shops, restaurants and bars. It also has a cultural centre, museums and reknowned park which has a boating lake.
Obidos, a 15 minute drive away is the most visited, historic site outside of Lisbon. This magnificent walled, medieval fortress city with narrow, winding cobbled streets, quaint white-washed cottages, often surrounded by colourful bougainvillae and geraniums, is the perfect living, working museum town. The whole complex is surrounded by steep 14th century granite walls, which provide outstanding views. It formed part of the wedding present from King Dinis to his wife Isabel of Aragon in 1282. The town boasts an almost unending series of events and festivals. It has a museum which tells the story of how this hilltop fortress was taken from the Moors by Portugal’s first king Afonso Henriques in 1148. Whilst walking amongst the quaint shops and restaurants you will be able to sample Ginja. This local speciality is made by infusing sour cherry in alcohol and is served in chocolate cups.
