What to do in Artá
Artà has much to offer the visitor, from churches and abbeys, museums and exhibitions, festivals, markets, structures and settlement, handicrafts, cafes and restaurants. The town is active throughout the year, with its open-air markets (each Tuesday), San Antonio festival (it takes place on the 16th and 17th of January) and San Salvador festival (first week of August) allowing visitors to enjoy its beauty regardless of the season. Arta's autumnal fair is held on the second Sunday of September. This is a traditional agricultural fair with markets, activities for children and other events. A small museum, housed inside Sa Nostra bank, displaying archaeological discoveries from Greek and Roman periods is something that should definitely be seen in Arta. Just outside the town the Bronze Age settlements of Ses Paisses can be found; it is one of the most important and best-preserved prehistoric sites in the Balearic Islands.
