We had a perfect week here!! The house was comfortable and we had plenty of room for our crew. The kitchen had everything I needed and more. Location was beautiful... Quiet and peaceful. My 20 month old grandson had a blast on the beach and playing in the water. We enjoyed the canoes and the beauty of the lake. Everything was perfect including the weather!! I have been using VRBO for years and this is best rental I've ever had. Thanks Mike!! We would love to come back!

Wonderful family get together

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful lake home, with very nice lake shore and decent fishing. Wonderfully cool under the trees at the lake shore. The owner has a lot of rules and regulations - but this good as the owner is fussy, which is reflective of the lake home, trouble free of any failures or house problems. Nice dock to tie up the boat and swim from!

Giving some thought to booking next year, but a year in advance is to early, and depends on plans of middle aged children and their families!

Refund of security deposit, one day after leaving the lake home for our home was greatly appreciated!

Thanks for letting us share your lake home.

Terrible Operators!!!

  • 1 of 5

We rented this house for a friend's weekend. When we arrived the grass on the septic mound had patches of recently dead grass indicating the septic system was not functioning properly. On the last day of our stay the system backed up causing sewage to back-up through the drains in the basement. We immediately reported this to the owners and we told that there had been a lot of people there over the last couple weeks and it was probably full. Once it came time to return our deposit, the owners told us they were keeping it for clean-up of the septic mess and that we had flushed too much paper? We had only used the bathrooms as we would in our own homes and didn't even use more than 2 rolls of toiler paper the entire weekend. The system was obviously in distress when we arrived and the owner chose to do the shady and dishonest thing and make our party pay for the overuse of the system caused by their over-booking of the property. I am disgusted at the way they handled the situation and will not be renting this house again.

Owner's Response: Dear unhappy guest, We are very sorry to read your review. Let's start by addressing your allegation that the septic system was stressed or not functioning properly. In response, we can tell you that people with mound septic systems occasionally complain of brown spots in their grass over the system. This is due to shallow soil above the mound and the grass roots tend to dry out easily in the summer months. This has absolutely nothing to do with the functioning of the system. Let us be clear, we had an inspection and pumping of the septic following your stay. Not only was it documented as fully functioning, it was not even half full. Prior to your stay, we had only four bookings through the months of June and early July. This is actually less use than if a family was living in the home (which we did for more than 30 years without issue). As with any septic system, we were always careful to only flush human waste and toilet paper. Kleenex, cotton balls, paper towels and feminine products, etc. will clog the system. Now, let's talk about what was discovered after you reported the toilet wouldn't flush and you were experiencing a backup on the last day of your stay. The home is cleaned and inspected by our property manager after each stay to make sure there is no damage and everything is clean and in working order. Everything was in perfect working order prior to your stay with all toilets flushing and drains working. After your departure, we had the septic company check the system where they discovered a clog consisting of large amounts of paper products in the line between the house and the septic tank. The amount clogging the system could only have resulted from current use and it would not have been possible for the previous guests to not have a problem if it was there during a stay prior to yours. Due to the clog in the line between the house and the septic, the lower level of the house flooded with water. We incurred costs to have the septic company clear the clog and had the septic pumped as well. We also incurred costs for water removal and steam cleaning of the lower level carpeting. Due to the costs incurred with this incident and the fact that the clog was in the line between the house and the septic, it was explained that the damage deposit would not be refunded. Please refer to the rental agreement regarding the septic system.

Great winter destination

  • 5 of 5

Our family of four spent three nights over New Year's Eve. There was ice fishing (25" walleye!) for the 11 year old, and a whole frozen lake as a palette and playground for the 8 year old. Great neighbors helped with the ice fishing and invited us sledding on their hill. The location is quiet and beautiful.

The house was comfortable and well-maintained. Definitely more home-like than cabin-y. Fireplaces kept us warm, and the view was great. Such beautiful winter light coming off the snow and through the large windows.

Great time!

  • 5 of 5

The pictures on VRBO did not really do the house and beach justice. The beach was much nicer than we expected. So nice to have a private beach and fire pit area. The only thing I would recommend is having a rake for the goose droppings. It is on a nice quiet lake so you do not have boats flying by at fast speeds. We had a few issues arise for us but the property manager was very helpful and the owners reimbursed us fairly. Would definitely recommend.

Relaxing weekend away

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the home with a handful of friends for a relaxing weekend. The home was spacious to allow for privacy if needed, with an open kitchen-dining-living area for group interactions. The kitchen had many supplies (knives, coffee pot, etc) and a gas grill for grilling.

The home is right on the lake with a sand bar, dock and fire pit for lounging and canoes to enjoy the lake.

We had a wonderfully relaxing stay - we'll be back for sure!
