Our family has always enjoyed visiting Caney Lake and are excited to share our dream of having a lake house with you!
This is the best property for a large family. Having everyone under one roof but with the privacy of individual bedrooms and bathrooms is great. We have stayed two years in a row and by "vote" hope to make it a third!
Thanks to the Landry family for providing all the extras! Our family of 19 stayed at your lovely lake house for 5 days and truly had a great time. We spent hours floating on rafts off the pier, boating, cooking, and playing games! Our group ranged in age from 70 to 6. We appreciated the nice cookware and seasonings. The kitchen A/C was a real plus too. We thought the house was especially clean and well maintained. We did some grilling and spent many hours on the swing enjoying the nice breeze off of the lake. Unfortunately, the fish were not biting, but we still had a wonderful time. It was nice for our group to slow down and spend time with each other! We also visited the Landry Vineyard and had a nice time tasting some really good wine, especially the Blackberry Merlot! Thanks for sharing your home with us!
This was our second year at this property and we plan to return again next year. It is a clean, comfortable, spacious, well-maintained property with a fantastic view of the lake and a great boat dock. The owner and owner's family are wonderful folks.
This place was great for our small family reunion. Kids swam and we all fished. Accommodations were great. Well stocked kitchen. Everything well organized.
This past weekend was the 10th year in a row that I've hosted a friend's Memorial Day Weekend trip, renting condos and lake houses all the way from Crystal Beach to Toledo Bend and now Caney Lake... and this is by far the biggest and best one yet!
For a big group, especially with multiple couples, it just doesn't get any more comfortable than this Caney Lake house with 6 king bedrooms, 5 private bathrooms, 2 more shared bathrooms, and a HUGE living/dining room. The privacy of the rooms, plus the easy bathroom access, makes it ideal for a big group mixed with early risers and late sleepers. All of the rooms have good linens and window unit air conditioning, making personal temperature control ideal.
The kitchen is wonderfully furnished with just about everything you can think of. It has a good refrigerator/freezer along with an extra large refrigerator and a small deep freezer outside on the patio (perfect for a few big bags of ice). The addition of an industrial ice machine would be a BIG plus if they could do it.
The screened-in half of patio is perfect for breakfast or a nightcap, and we even enjoyed a comfortable midday spread of crawfish. The open side of the porch has a nice swing and a few rocking chairs, and made for a good hangout spot while barbecuing and crawfish boiling.
The yard is nice, though we didn't use it much, and it's only a short downhill walk to the pier/dock (where we spent most of our time). With three open boat slips, there is room for the fishers and the skiers, and the seating area on the dock is huge. We had 6-8 people fishing at one time in the shade, while another 6-8 tanned or swam nearby.
Fair warning to the would-be fishermen out there... don't waste your money on crickets thinking you and the kids will have plenty of action with perch near the dock. They must be allergic to crickets in this water, because we literally had ZERO bites on crickets the entire weekend. However, we switched to using only nightcrawlers and only on the bottom, and did pull in some of the largest brim I've ever seen, like over a pound each. We only caught about a dozen, 8 of which were monster keepers, which was really strange considering how slow it was. I thought we would definitely catch more catfish like this, but only got one. Thankfully it was a GIANT, easily over 10 lbs!
All in all this is a great house, with a beautiful view, well maintained, and well furnished, and I look forward to staying there again!
My family and two other families enjoyed Spring Break at the Landry's this year. We totaled 20, six adults and fourteen kids, and we fit comfortably in the accommodations. The kids particularly loved the upstairs bunk room. The lake was beautiful and provided memorable canoeing and kayaking with the gear we brought. The boat dock is huge and is definitely a highlight for fishing, with our biggest catch of the trip coming just 30 feet from the shoreline. The pre-arrival communication could have been a little better (I needed to reach out and remind them to send me the key and address info), but the Landry's were quick to respond when I did reach out to them. All in all, a wonderful trip!
Landry Vineyards is located just a short drive from Landry Caney Lake Lodge! There, you can enjoy the atmosphere of lush vineyards in West Monroe's rolling hills. Be sure to stop by for a wine tasting, tour, shopping, or to attend one of the seasonal concert events. Locally owned and operated.
The home of Duck Dynasty is just a short drive as well. You can visit their gift shop and take pictures by the iconic sign and tour bus or swing by Willie's Diner for a "southern style" meal.
