Redfish House- Waterfront home overlooking the Steinhatchee River-2 boat slips

Bedrooms 3
Space 1,900 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

The Redfish House is a beautiful waterfront home located on the Steinhatchee River near the mouth of the Gulf of Mexico. Completed in 2009, this multi-story home with a river view is great for family groups and friends.

The accommodations include three bedrooms and three baths and can sleep up to 9 people. The master bedroom is upstairs, has a very comfortable king bed and opens up to the porch with a view of the Steinhatchee River. The master bath has both a shower and a freestanding tub. Also upstairs are two more bedrooms, one with a queen bed and another with a single/double bunk bed; those rooms share a full bath.

For extra guests, a trundle bed is provided in the den on the first floor. A third bathroom is just off the den.

With front porches/balconies on two levels and also a back porch/balcony, guests are able to relax, enjoy the river view and watch the boats come in. There is a private parking garage on the ground level.

You will also have access to the gazebo on the river and the docks, and your rental comes with not one but two private boat slips! And since the house is right near the mouth of the river and the newe community boat ramp, you'll be in the Gulf in no time at all!

Steinhatchee is a small fishing village in the Big Bend area of Florida known for the excellent summertime scalloping and year-round fishing for trout, redfish, seabass, grouper and more. One of the unspoiled areas of Florida, Steinhatchee abounds with ambiance and offers a taste of 'Old Florida'. The Steinhatchee area is known as 'Florida's Scallop Capital,' as the Gulf waters make an ideal habitat for these delicious shellfish. It's a perfect getaway for any reason!

After your first stay at the Redfish House, you'll look forward to many return visits!

Nice place except for a large trailer mounted ice machine parked in front of the door. Kind of made it hard to get luggage and coolers in the house. After a call and text to VRBO, some nice folks came by and moved it the next day.

Owner's Response: I'm happy that you enjoyed the house. Thankfully I was able to get someone to move the ice trailer from under the carport and out of your way within 3 hours of check-in time on the day you arrived. :) I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience upon arrival as I did not realize that it had not been picked up the day prior and that they had rescheduled for June 5th pick-up instead. :)

Great House and Property

  • 5 of 5

Spend the weekend at the Redfish House with my family. This house is absolutely THE BEST! The interior is really nice and very detailed. Full kitchen with granite counters, comfortable beds, and a great master bath. We rented a boat and used one the boat slips. Sarah was great to work with and took care of all our requests.

The home itself was amazing but...

  • 5 of 5

I will have to say that the home was a fabulous place. The location was spectacular. We were there to go scalloping and it was the perfect house for that. We had two boats and had dockage for them. We were literally a hop skip and a jump away from the dock here at this house. The house was completely set up for people scalloping. My disappointment came in the cleanliness of the house. The bedding in the downstairs bedroom needed to be washed prior to sleeping in the bed. The bathrooms needed to be cleaned and bleached prior to bathing as well. The floors needed to be scrubbed, which we didn't realize immediately until we noticed our feet were black. I don't know if the property manager is aware of the condition of this house because sometimes things like this can happen with a cleaning crew (I definitely can understand that) and normally I wouldn't ever comment on this in a review but it was really that bad. I truly hope that this can change because I would love another chance to stay here, but definitely could not if the condition of the house was the same. I only stay in Home Away homes because truly it is the only place I trust. This time didn't deter me from rebooking again on HomeAway, however it would impact me choosing this home again. Again, the only reason for my informative review is because I think this house is amazing and I would hate to see it not get rented in the future because of a situation like this. I will give 5 stars for all that I praised this listing on,, but the cleanliness of this home would have brought my rating down to a 1 if I was to rate it based on that.

Amazing retreat

  • 4 of 5

The house was so very nice with such a coastal cottage feel. Being right next to water and having boat slips made it even more enjoyable for the family. The only reason I did not rate it as a perfect 5 was because we had trouble with the dryer when we tried to keep everything washed up. That is a fixable thing and everything else was perfect. Hope to stay again in the same house again

Owner's Response: Glad you enjoyed your stay. We just had the dryer repaired...TWICE. :( I'll try again and if that doesn't work it may be time for a new one! Come back soon!!
