About Stella Anderson

We are Fermin and Pat Falcon. We are semi-retired and can't imagine retirement anywhere but in the mountains, and of course near our kids and grandchildren! So we get the best of both worlds living in Iowa near our family, and in Colorado when we need some rest and relaxation.

We run a pet sitting business in Pella, Ia. As pet lovers we welcome your furbabies at our Colorado home.

Stella Anderson purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Stella Anderson chose Front Range

This property is incredibly special as it was originally built by Pat's parents, Clifford and Aldene Hurst in 1975. For about 10 years we spent every major holiday and long summer vacations in this home visiting Cliff and Aldene. Our children spent hours upon hours exploring the woods and making the most amazing memories. They spent hours upon hours training ground squirrels to sit on their laps, and even would pet the hummingbirds while they fed from a feeder. After Cliff passed away Aldene lived there for a few years, but being a widow up in the mountains was very difficult. Parting with the cabin was one of the saddest times in our lives. After 3 decades and the luck of it back on the market, we didn't hesitate to purchase the home back and now can say it will be in the family FOREVER! The owners of the local Potbelly, old friends from back in the day also bought back the restaurant this past year, coincidence....we think not!

What makes this cabin unique

Red Feather Lakes is one of the best kept secret of the Roosevelt National Forest area. For years we have walked the woods, cross country skiied through fresh powder, panned for gold, laughed, cried, and made great families memories. We hope you will bring your family to our quaint, comfortable cabin home, and reconnect with each other and find respite in the mountain air..

Healing Mountain Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Imagine waking up to a coffee bar, crackling fire and porch swing awaiting you? This cabin welcomes all ages and animals to experience. The kids, teens, and adults enjoyed the incredible rock piles within Menominee Circle. And how wonderful to the lake hikes, minutes away by car. Bel Air has a private cove that is perfect for picnics and yoga. The kids loved kayacking to the small islands on Dowdy lake as well.

In the evening, the main room is inviting for games and crafts while the huge back deck held wine and brew tastings for the adults. All the beds are comfortable and have made for a truly relaxing and rejuvenating experience.

The village has so much charm and gives children a taste of how a small community works together. There's a library, local artisan stores, and a coffee shop, just to name a few quaint stops.

Thank you, for sharing Socorro cabin with us.

There's no place like Socorro

  • 5 of 5

My family stayed at Socorro cabin, this past Christmas. We were greeted with the coziest fireplace, crackling wood burning stove where hot chocolate was brewing each day. The knotty pine walls are warm and inviting and the kitchen was stocked with pots, pans, utensils, and a beautiful pine tree table for meals and board games. Our kids played for hours in the under the stairs nook, filled with toys for the imagination. Each morning, we caught the sunrise over coffee from the front porch. I suggest a porch swing to make these moments complete. The back patio has a back drop of rocks, pines, and all kinds of woodland critters. We brought our cross country skiis and created paths through the property. Just down the road, at Beaver Meadows Mountain resort, we enjoyed tubing hills and tree lined trails for skiing and snow shoeing. The kids played ice hockey on the pond adorned with white lights. Socorro cabin is truly a sacred sanctuary. For yoga practitioners, there are yoga mats and granite rocks for daily meditations just behind the cabin. And to my surprise, Shambhala is a few miles down the road, check them out too!

Kind suggestions:

Just what we wanted!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned last week from a 7 night stay at Socorro Cabin. We had a wonderful time! The cabin was fully stocked with everything we needed, pots and pans, dishes and utensils, and coffee maker. The full kitchen with appliances was wonderful. We brought a few items to prepare for meals and visited the Red Feather Super nearby for more groceries. Next time I would bring more from home because we loved having our meals on the back deck. Coffee on the deck early in the morning was wonderful. We also enjoyed a couple of meals at the Pot Belly Restaurant-GREAT food! We enjoyed the mule deer and MANY hummingbirds. I made more hummingbird food twice! We enjoyed the fire pit as well and saw moose on 4 different evenings in the aspen groves across the road. We hiked Mt. Margaret, went horseback riding at Beaver Meadows Stables, drove into Fort Collins and paddled a raft on the Poudre. We drove to Estes Park and Rocky Mt. National Park one day as well. We trout fished on Lone Pine Lake catching our limit of nice sized trout that we grilled for dinner and even brought some home frozen. Our favorite thing to do however was relax on the deck at the cabin. We climbed the large rock formation in the back yard and our boys hung their hammocks between trees up there to enjoy an afternoon and evening of relaxation!

Everything was perfect. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay great! Lone Pine Realty and the packets provided gave us all the information we needed about where to dispose of our garbage, use of the fire pit, fishing in Crystal Lakes and more. The only recommendation I would have is to either clean the carpet in the living room well or replace with laminate or wood, but even that wasn't an issue. We haven't stopped telling our friends about our trip and plan to visit again ourselves!
