About Owner / Property Manager
I purchased this cabin from my parents Trust. It has been in the family since the 1970's, in the late 1990's we completely remodeled by taking it down to one wall and floor area. There are five full bedrooms, three with one queen bed each , two have 2 or 3 twin beds and a queen bed., There is a twin bed in an alcove of the downstairs living room. While it is large, it can also be an intimate place for a couple, as the main floor has everything you need to relax and enjoy yourselves for two or the whole house for 16.
Owner / Property Manager purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Owner / Property Manager chose Twain Harte
It is one of the most relaxing places on earth I have ever been. If you need to get away from the rat race, but stay connected, this is the place. I have had a reliable Comcast high sped internet service installed which was an upgrade from AT&T.
What makes this Cabin unique
This cabin can sleep 16 people. It has an awesome wrap-around deck and is centrally located in Twain Harte a 7-10 minute walk to town or to Twain Harte Lake. There is a new gas infrared grill on the deck and table seating for 13 on the deck or 16 inside the house.

location and porch are terrific;
the location is great and wonderful for walking to town or the lake. it was an extremely hot week in Twain Harte and the upstairs was difficult to cool down. The porch is the jewel of this cabin; the kitchen is big! On the downside, the garbage space is poor for a cabin advertised to house so many. This was a constant problem during the week with our large crowd. Also there is no washer/dryer which, for a large crowd who were at the lake most of the week became difficult. I misunderstood some of the cabin requirements and lost 1/2 my deposit. if you rent, read all requirements diligently. the criticisms of our group took away from what was a good week.
Great vacation cabin!
We stayed here for a snow trip. It was wonderful! Plenty of space for families. It had plenty of beds and a spacious kitchen area to cook and hangout. Well stocked with pots and pans. Really liked that there was a bathroom on each floor. There's a gas grill outside for a nice barbeque.
Would like to return here for our next trip!
A fine forest retreat.
Our stay was comfortable and the house was well appointed. Prior to our stay the owner was very responsive to all our inquiries and answered all our questions to our satisfaction. I especially liked the forest location, but close to the businesses and restaurants in the town of Twain Harte. We will gladly stay there again.
Wonderful vacation cabin
We recently rented the cabin for a family get together. Cabin layout is great for large families. Kitchen was beyond well equipped and had no problems making large family dinner. The deck is very relaxing and BBQ worked great. Lots of games for the kids and grown ups. Kids didn't ask for electronics all weekend. Was wonderful. Would definitely recommend cabin and would rent it again😊
Thanks, you were an awesome guest. The cabin was very clean and appreciated the communication with you throughout the process and stay. Hope you will come back again.
Owner was paternalistic and had poor processes
Place worked OK for us to provide enough beds to sleep and bathrooms to use.
Poor customer service from owner who was off-site and there were telephone connection issues due to poor signal at the cabin as well as where the owner was calling from.
1.The code on the lock that the owner gave us did not work. He made us enter the code many times before finally unlocking it remotely. He refused to believe that we were entering the code properly and was quite demeaning making us feel like morons for not being able to put in a code.
2.After we entered and while we were still on the phone with the owner, he kept rudely asking me to "Read the instructions on the fridge." Unfortunately the instructions on the fridge were for summer and not winter and we needed the one for winter. He did not give me time to read the instructions but kept rudely telling me to "READ THE INSTRUCTIONS." Eventually, I asked him to calm down and told him that I was going to hang up because he was not being helpful. We had to figure out the right set of instructions after searching for the winter instructions which were ON TOP of the fridge.
3. Even these instructions were confusing as it didn't tell us which internet to connect to and we had to call him again. Again he was rude before finally informing us which network to connect to.
4. The heater in the basement was not working and it took us over 2 hours with the help of the owner's locally based friend before we could get it going.
5.Since we were novices for woodburning fireplace, it took us another hour to get that going as well as there were no instructions and we had been unable to connect to internet to Google instructions because there were no instructions.
Of course, as the owner had previously mentioned there were no bedsheets which we had brought; it would have been nice if he had mentioned that there were no pillowcases either as we had not brought those.
I am not sure why the owner could not share the instructions prior to our arrival. Rather than being rude, he should have been more considerate with the remote lock and first helped us get into the house rather than having us try it over 5 times before remotely unlocking the lock. Also he blamed others for messing up the instructions but he is the one responsible for what instructions are on the fridge or not. He did try to help in the end and offered us extra hours to stay on Saturday but we didn't need them. I'm sure he will learn with experience.
This was an experience I had never encountered before, the guest emailed or called at least 15 times prior to arrival. He requested turn by turn directions to the cabin from his place of residence, despite the fact that he told me had a mapping device. As far as the door lock, the code actually worked, it was open and they did not try to open the door( it appears they expected it to open automatically) before entering the code again which caused it to lock as soon as the first code.
It is the first time anyone has had difficulty opening the door.
For some reason the previous tenant had turned off the pilot lights to the heaters and the cleaner did not realize catch this issue. While I tried to talk this guest through lighting the pilot light, turning the water on and water heater on, he would constantly interrupt me and when I asked him to let me finish my directions raised his voice atame to not be condescending when I was trying to explain the matter to him.
I was also on vacation at the Grand Canyon and the signal at the cabin can be a little sketchy depending on your carrier, he did call or text at least 20 times that first night. I answered each one of those as soon as I was able, even after I had gone to sleep.
I had a friend who lived by come over and teenage son showed the three adult males how to start a fire in the wood stove since they had never ever started a wood fire. They asked if they should "put water" on the fire at night before going to bed, which of course would have been disastrous. They also planned to hike Bridalvale Falls the next day with several small children. Which thankfully the teenager talked them out of doing , as it can be treacherous for adults in the winter and early spring, let alone deadly for children.
The cabin was left very clean and they were hospitable to my friends who went to help. I did learn there are people who have no life experience out of an urban environment and do not have the common sense to be at a mountain cabin. The very basic things since I was 7 these adult males had no clue how to do, you learn something new everyday?
I have redone my tenant information binder to include the basic common sense things that had never come up before, because not everyone has the same life experience.
This one renter called or texted me more than all of my previous tenants combined in the last year.
Everyone else has had a great time and no issues like this.
Great place for multiple families
Ed was terrific to deal with and his place worked great for three families. Plenty of beds & bathrooms for everyone and the kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment. We'd definitely stay here again.
Thanks, I would love to have you/
