We hope to retire to this home in 3 years. In the meantime, we share this lovely home with retirees looking to escape frigid northern winters, or it is perfect home for a 'summer get away' as opposed to the cramped quarters of a hotel. We are close to Fort Myers which is south - a little further drive north to Sarasota, St. Pete and Tampa. Rather than charge a hefty refundable damage deposit, we have opted for the insurance through VRBO.com. It is an excellent arrangement that protects EVERYONE.

We have intentionally listed our home for less than comparable homes in the area - we simply want to be able to maintain the home, i.e., pay the mortgage etc., until we are able to retire. Also, it is preferable to have a home occupied as opposed to vacant. Unfortunately, the State of Florida has to get their "cut" and there is a 12% tax that is mandatory, and paid to the State.

Beautiful Florida Home
My family checked out of this home today after a 7-day stay. We throughly enjoyed our stay in Punta Gorda. This home is a typical Florida home on the water. Yes, it could use some updates, but for the price, it’s perfect! Windows galore to keep track of the kids and a beautiful view of the WIDE canal. The kids enjoyed the clean pool, jumping into the canal and fishing right from the dock. Just bring bug spray, as the noseeums can bite after dark; typical for Florida homes on a canal. Also, even though small animals are welcomed in the home, it did not smell like animals. So that is a huge plus!
I don’t understand the most recent negative reviews. We had no issues as mentioned and when I did need to talk to the owner, she responded ASAP. Athe owner is a very kind and reapectful lady who leaps into action right away.
My only request of the owner(s) is to update the VRBO/ HomeAway ad informing potential renters about the City ordernance related to parking your boat trailer onsite,as it is not permitted. (This may already be in the works for future renters) Note: Renters must arrange offsite parking ahead of his/her arrival. We received a warning ticket, from the City, mid-week. The owner did offer to allow us to park the boat trailer in the garage, but it didn’t fit. She then helped me locate a storage facility that accepted daily, weekly and monthly parking. It all worked out just fine, but it is something I would have liked to know ahead of time.
Overall, this home was a great little getaway for my family and we would rent from this owner again.

Ok but House has issues
I love this location and the home is beautiful this was our 2nd stay in this home BUT the pool (which was the seller for me) was green upon arrival I booked a 7 day stay (paid in full 2 months before arrival) which 3 of the days the pool was green so we weren’t able to use it ~ the dishwasher door was broken so water went EVERYWHERE (not what I wanted to do on my vacation is clean up a mess) the electrical light switches r mixed up which could cause fire issues so I slept with one eye open ~ the light bulbs blew out in 2 rooms ~ upon arrival the garbage was left in the garage (in 90 degree weather) so it STUNK I didn’t leave my car inside until it aired out and 2 of the smoke alarms were not even hooked up just laying on the counter ~ I did notify by email the issues and was told it would be fixed but that kinda put a damper on my stay
I am so disappointed – the guest arrived on a Saturday. The pool company had been out on Thursday and all was fine but apparently Friday a large storm moved through and blew out two pool panel, causing some light debris in the pool and the chemicals became unbalanced. I contacted the pool company Saturday and they were there Monday and fixed the pool problem - they don’t work on Sunday. The guest never informed me that pool screens had been blown out. The trash should have been put out by the guests who were last there and apparently did not. This is a two car garage house and it should have aired out quickly as there is a Side door and rollup garage door. The problem with the electrical switches would certainly have not been a fire hazard. The light switches are labeled and the prior guest before must have switched the laundry room light on from the garage which throws off the switch in the house. I did my best to accommodate these guests and I am sorry they Were unhappy. The housekeeper left the two smoke detectors on the counter, but put the new ones in - I NEVER heard about this issue from the guests - also never heard the dishwasher door was broken!! I’ve had 2 guests stay since then and they loved the house. I try diligently to be attentive when issues arise. Sadly, sometimes there are issues that come up, but I get them fixed!
The home, location and the view was absolutely gorgeous.
The home was perfect for our needs and the boat ride to the gulf was nice.
The 2nd bedroom had a leak in the closet and soaked a suitcase of our children’s clothes. We notified the owner, she did send a plumber and mentioned that the plumber had corrected the problem a month before our arrival. We had remained at the house when the plumber came and he wasn’t there for any length of time. However we found that it was still leaking, we actually accessed the leak for the owner and she stated that the plumber had to come out again. We were interrupted for 3 days but the owner relied on neighbors that said we were going fishing and boating every day, when in fact I stayed at the Home washing wet towels from the leak. The owner didn’t feel we were inconvenienced and was not considerate about our inconvenience. The home was fabulous it’s the owner that needs to be beautified. She said she will send us a check for $80.00 total for our inconvenience, what a super deal she gave us for our kindness, accessing the leak and my laundry service. We have yet to receive the $80.00 check. This is her response to me:
Sorry, the plumber came early the two days they came and from their reports, the first day wasn’t even there an hour and the second day was there earlier and finished the job in a short time. Neighbors said you were still going fishing. There was Tide pods left above washer - I don’t believe you’d find a house in this neighborhood at the price of $100 a night. Especially since you booked for 6 adults and 2 children. Sorry your not happy, but I did the best I could to accommodate a situation that was beyond my control and tried to get it fixed as quickly as possible. I asked the last time if You just wanted to skip the repair and refrain from using the pool shower and you opted to have them come anyway.
She insisted the plumber return and assumed we were all out having a wonderful time. If we had ignored the leak, the house would have been flooded.
Very disappointed with this review. I believe I went over and above to attempt to fix this situation for these guests. Practically the first words out of the male Guest‘s mouth was “how would he be compensated for the inconvenience” and this was even before the plumber arrived the first time. Two mornings, the plumber arrived at 7a and 8a; the first visit lasted under 30 minutes, since pool shower not being used, there was no leak. The repair I had made the month before was an ENTIRELY different issue. I advised the guest that they did not have to be home in order for the plumber to access the property and effectuate the repair and they declined that option. The last time, I told them if they didn’t use the pool shower there would be no leak and I’d get plumber back out after they left - they declined the offer and wanted the plumber back out to effectuate the repair. I use a very reliable small plumbing company local in Punta Gorda. In a town this small if you are not reliable and trustworthy, you won’t be in business long. I had eight guests in a three bedroom two bath house and did not charge extra for all the people. I actually offered $100 refund, which was 10% of the rental fee! All other reviews on this house have been amazing. I apologized profusely and repeatedly for the inconvenience to these guests. First I Was told the clothes that got wet belong to the mother, then the clothes that got wet belong to the children. Their story kept changing. It appeared they would not be satisfied with anything except an large refund which I couldn’t do. Because of the numerous guests, the electric skyrocketed along with extra cleaning after their exit. I am sorry these guests had a less than pleasant experience. I own three homes in the area and have never had a situation like this before - sometimes things break and I try my best to fix them as quickly as possible. I am very caring, compassionate and quick to respond. I am disappointed by the way this guest has portrayed me; which is simply unkind and just not true. I was very sorry they were inconvenienced and I conveyed my apologies multiple times and did my due diligence to fix the problem.
Beautiful property in great location
We were in PG for the purpose of house hunting and we are happy to have stayed at this property for comparison. Lanai was beautiful and pool was clean and lovely. Rooms were large and home was well stocked with basic essentials. I'm removing one star for a couple of small things that may not bother anyone else. The bed in the master bedroom was so tall I literally had to jump into it (I'm 5' 6"). Having a small stool in the bedroom would have helped. Also, the dishwasher isn't really washing anymore and should probably be replaced. We had to do quite a bit of hand washing. But I would stay here again and would recommended to anyone else.
My husband and are both almost 6 feet tall, so the bed is basically for us. This is the FIRST I have EVER heard about the problem with dishwasher! I wd have gladly sent out repairman or had it replaced if I’d known - i can’t address what I’m not aware of! Looking into problem now!

There are to BE no children under 13 years of age overnight, unless cleared with Owner in advance. ONLY registered guests should be using the premises for overnight.
