About Chamain O'Mahony

Sean & Chamain bought the building & house in December of 2011 to create a bakery for artisan breads with an attached guesthouse & studio. Sean has been a financial systems consultant, traveling the country to universities and Fortune 100 businesses, but would rather bake bread. Chamain is an artist (paints the Creole Cat) and principal with The BOS Group, a business consulting firm, who loves healthy baking and eating vegan muffins & sweets.

Chamain was born and raised in New Orleans, graduating from Tulane in chemistry with an MBA from Emory. While in Atlanta, Chamain met Sean in an Italian Restaurant where they both worked. They married and later moved home to New Orleans while Sean received his MBA from Tulane. That was almost 20 years ago. Sean & Chamain have been married 28 years and have 3 precious rescue kitties at their primary home and 3 at the bakery properties. They love traveling abroad and discovering healthy, new & exotic foods. They both enjoy exercising--Sean likes running and Chamain prefers yoga--but both loves walking on the levee right outside of Bakery House!

Why Chamain O'Mahony chose Uptown-Carrollton

The bakery, studio & guesthouse are 5 minutes from the O'Mahony home, which is right between the airport and the French Quarter--and only a block from the river for biking, running or walking the levee. Oak Street, is the coolest neighborhood in NOLA, too! The Bakery House, which has been listed for 3 years now, has over 40 5-star reviews!

We designed this property to have everything we would want for an extended stay with the perfect artistic touches.

What makes this studio unique

We love walking Oak Street, with all the fun antique shops, restaurants, coffeehouses, consignment shops and the streetcar line. And the river, where you can walk, bike or run the levee (no cars allowed), is only a block away!

Perfect Anniversary Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The studio was in perfect condition and looks exactly like the pictures. It was perfect for my husband and I. Great things to do near by and delicious restaurants in walking distance or a short drive. Definitely check out Cowbell's while staying. Being able to wake up on the weekends and walk next door to the bakery was a dream. Wonderful coffee and treats! We arrived around dinner the first night and really enjoys the treats left for us on arrival. Overall, wonderful stay and would love to come back!

My Offical NOLA home!!!

  • 5 of 5

Cozy place! Love it! Nicely decorated. Need a little dusting but all and all great! Had an issue with the heating unit but Owners made accommodations for it. Couldn’t have asked for a better owner to work with or a more charming place to bring in the new year!!!

Well designed and furnished.

I was a little disappointed to find extreme mold growth in the coffee pot. It made the spider webs in the lightshade a minor annoyance.

On the bright side was the close attention you and your husband paid to our needs.

Great Vacation Rental

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I chose this rental based on previous excellent reviews. It certainly lived up to our expectations. The host is very accommodating and runs a thriving bakery business next to the property, so she was always available if need be. We were first time visitors to New Orleans and were happy to stay in the Oak Street area rather than in the heart of downtown. We rode the streetcar every day, which has a stop near the unit, and got to all area attractions easily and inexpensively. The place itself is spacious and contemporary, and the Oak Street area has plenty of high quality restaurants and a great all around vibe. I highly recommend this rental and look forward to visiting again.

Perfect location

  • 4 of 5

I went to New Orleans to cover the Oak Street Poboy festival. This little hideaway is right in the thick of the event. The apartment was tastefully decorated and the attention to detail should be mentioned. The place was fully equipped with everything you would need during your stay. A great shower, full kitchen, big screen TV, hair dryer, ironing board for clothes and they even have laundry facilities if you need them. The equipment in the kitchen looked close to new and hardly used. The room was obviously built for the purpose of a VRBO since everything is pretty heavy duty and not retro fitted. There is even a fine operating bakery on the premises, so breakfast is just steps away. The couple that own this operation could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Before I arrived the contacted me that the event I was coming in town for had been moved at the last minute. They were able to move my reservation, so that I could attend. Not everyone does that. I would like to return to this spot since it is ideal for exploring Uptown in New Orleans. The neighborhood seemed safe and well looked after, which can be a concern when traveling to such a diverse city. There are some great bars, restaurants, art and antique shops within walking distance. I have no complaints other than I wish I could have had more time to stay and explore this area of New Orleans.

Exactly like the photos. Studio style had old New Orleans charm yet updated for comfort.

I believe this property was an old blacksmith shop, I thought “if these walls could talk” what a story they could tell.

Next door is an amazing bakery, and boy did the locals know it....busy all the time. The area is “coming back” and this bakery is leading the way. I felt safe and comfortable walking the neighborhood. Would love to return someday.
