Attached to the Breads on Oak bakery is this beautiful (450sf.) newly renovated studio apartment. (Also see listed our "Bakery House, #403674" for 6-7 guests, with over 40 5-star reviews!). Studio guests receive a welcome of fresh coffee & pastries upon arrival/during their stay. The bakery is open Wednesday thru Sunday for organic artisan breads, coffees, sandwiches, soups, salads & vegan pastries! Bakery Studio is located off New Orleans' famous & fun (yet non-touristy) Oak Street, full of restaurants, music clubs, antique stores and clothing shops. And we're only six blocks from the streetcar line for easy access to the Historic French Quarter, Garden District, Universities, Audubon Zoo and Park, Convention Center and Superdome, and just 1 block from the paved river levee path for miles of walking, running or biking.

Although on Oak Street, the studio is tucked away and super quiet. Bakery Studio has just been renovated and is fully furnished and decorated in an industrial elegant style by some of the best artists in New Orleans.

Amenities include free WiFi and Cox cable with a large screen tv, easy front-door parking. a gorgeous custom built-in shower, and top-of-the-line appliances.

The best part of staying at Bakery House is that you'll be able to wake up to the smell of fresh baked breads from our artisan bakery, Breads on Oak (bakery is open Wednesday through Sunday)!

About Chamain O'Mahony

Sean & Chamain bought the building & house in December of 2011 to create a bakery for artisan breads with an attached guesthouse & studio. Sean has been a financial systems consultant, traveling the country to universities and Fortune 100 businesses, but would rather bake bread. Chamain is an artist (paints the Creole Cat) and principal with The BOS Group, a business consulting firm, who loves healthy baking and eating vegan muffins & sweets.

Chamain was born and raised in New Orleans, graduating from Tulane in chemistry with an MBA from Emory. While in Atlanta, Chamain met Sean in an Italian Restaurant where they both worked. They married and later moved home to New Orleans while Sean received his MBA from Tulane. That was almost 20 years ago. Sean & Chamain have been married 28 years and have 3 precious rescue kitties at their primary home and 3 at the bakery properties. They love traveling abroad and discovering healthy, new & exotic foods. They both enjoy exercising--Sean likes running and Chamain prefers yoga--but both loves walking on the levee right outside of Bakery House!

Why Chamain O'Mahony chose Uptown-Carrollton

The bakery, studio & guesthouse are 5 minutes from the O'Mahony home, which is right between the airport and the French Quarter--and only a block from the river for biking, running or walking the levee. Oak Street, is the coolest neighborhood in NOLA, too! The Bakery House, which has been listed for 3 years now, has over 40 5-star reviews!

We designed this property to have everything we would want for an extended stay with the perfect artistic touches.

What makes this studio unique

We love walking Oak Street, with all the fun antique shops, restaurants, coffeehouses, consignment shops and the streetcar line. And the river, where you can walk, bike or run the levee (no cars allowed), is only a block away!

Clever, clean and convenient.

The location of this unit is situated the perfect distance away from the French quarter. The studio is clean and welcoming. It has a very modern and well appointed look about it. Very comfortable bed Excellent shower. The owners were welcoming and very friendly. And the single room but spacious unit is a converted garage which works very well. The one exception is that the garage door for the adjacent building is very noisy when it opens which it does frequently very early in the morning as they are accessing the bakery or other adjacent rental unit next-door. We struggled with the heating/AC unit, it seem to make a lot of noise and we couldn't find a way to get the fan at the right setting where it would stop vibrating. But all in all it was a great stay I would recommend Staying at the studio at Breads on Oak.

We loved the comfortable and stylish home we had in the converted garage at Breads on Oak in uptown New Orleans. Chamain and Sean are gracious hosts. We were there for almost a month and were sorry to leave.

Our Best NOLA rental!

  • 5 of 5

Sean and Chamain's studio is perfect! We've visited NOLA 3 times in the past 16 months and this has by far been our favorite rental. The location is wonderful. We rode the bike trail everyday. The small shops and restaurants all within walking distance from the rental were all great. Sean, sorry we did not get to meet you, but hopefully next time. Chamain, you were very accommodating and pleasant. So happy we got to meet you. Thanks for everything!

Chuck and Sandy

Comfortable, quiet, friendly.

I had a lovely stay at the Bakery Studio in the Carrolton neighborhood of New Orleans. I was in town as a carless, solo traveler to visit my daughter, who's at school in New Orleans. The rental is a large open studio space with a full kitchen area, comfortable TV / living area, bed, and bath. Originally built as a garage, the owners have done a first-rate job of transforming it into a pleasant living space, with tasteful and clever decorative touches. The studio is adjacent to the owners' bakery, Breads on Oak (and what a heavenly place that is!), so during business hours there's some activity in the covered alleyway that separates the studio from the bakery, with occasional deliveries arriving and bakers collecting sacks of flour and other supplies from a storeroom next to the studio. Chamaine, my hostess and owner of the bakery, mentioned that she had concerns that the activity might disturb her guests, but I did not find that to be so. Rather, the studio seemed generally quiet and peaceful to me. The neighborhood is a mix of small residences, shops, and offices, and is close to an active freight rail line; it's living, working, unpretentious community, not particularly genteel, but honest and un-touristy. The rental is a block from the Mississippi River levee, which has a long paved trail for walking, running, and biking atop it. It is near shops and restaurants. I highly recommend Blue Cypress Books, a densely stocked used bookstore down Oak Street. A5-minute walk along Oak brings you to S. Carrolton Ave., where you can catch the St. Charles streetcar to get to many of New Orleans' interesting neighborhoods along the river. The line terminates in Downtown at the edge of the French Quarter, which is roughly a 40-minute ride, but for the current (2016) fare of $1.25, a real bargain. Last but not least, my hostess Chamaine was warm, friendly, and helpful. I enjoyed my stay in the Bakery Studio and would stay here again.

Great studio

  • 5 of 5

I added the studio on after reserving the bakery house due to additional people joining our vacation.

This was the perfect set up for the two that stayed in it. It's beautiful and cozy. The location is close to the street car line and there's great restaurants nearby.

Chamain is so wonderful and her bakery is fabulous!
