About Kathy and Peter Vadasz
Peter and Kathy Vadasz (Californians) spend close to half the year here. We are happy to share this incredible paradise when we are not enjoying it for ourselves.
Kathy and Peter Vadasz purchased this House in 2011
What makes this House unique
The whole package is nearly impossible to find. The extraordinary merge of the pristine beach, gentle slope for the kids to play in the shallow waters, with beautiful waves a bit farther out. Add to this a modern, well-equipped and very comfortable home with all the entertainment options and Internet access via USB modem (computer and Magic Jack phone onsite). Surfers consider this one of the best beaches in Nicaragua because it offers the right conditions for the range of surfers - from beginner to Pro (there are 3 rustic surf camps on this beach alone). Having this, and being only 12 miles away from the vibrant college town of Leon, makes it such a perfect place from which to experience Nicaragua.

Tranquil hidden gem
Beautiful beach cozy yet roomy villa and awesome caretakers ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Just what we were looking for
Incredible beach with a comfortable house and great caretakers.
Amazing beach, great people, really quiet
Salinas Grandes is the definition of off the beaten track. The two mile long beach was the best we had ever seen, the waves came in at the perfect height to play in, and we never saw more than 20 people on the beach. Marina and Sergio took care of us and the house, and were wonderful. The house is really nice, but keep in mind that Nicaragua is the second poorest country in the Western Hemisphere. The road to the house is rough, but if you drive slowly there are no issues. Our daughter is fluent in Spanish, and without her we would have had trouble comunicating, so some knowledge of Spanish is really recommended. If you are looking for nightlife, this isn't the place, but if you want a great beach experience with wonderful people, you can't do better. If you come, have Marina make her fresh fish as many times as you can. Best in Nicaragua.
First, know who we are! This is our personal viewpoint. That makes a big difference. We are two seniors (over 80) who live in a US city and periodically want out, preferably to a slower paced, nautal environment. Salinas Grandes met all of our expectations. It is relatively isolated on an almost unoccupied miles-long beach. There are neighbors, all congenial. There are horses, almost all love carrots. The surf is extraordinary. That was the icing on the cake. The home is modern, well appointed, air conditioned and serviced by two lovely keepers, Miranda & Sergio. They often ate with us. English is optional but if you really want to communicate, speak Spanish. My Spanish is not poor but terrible. What fun.
There is a large screen
TV in the living room which I ignored. We didn't travel that far to watch TV! I spent many hours in the gazebo on the beach, counting waves, sipping wine and for the most part forgetting the world we had left behind.
We didn't have a car but a local gug from Leon was perfect. Besides taking us to/from Managua he took us to Leon for shopping and "look-about". Ask Kathy, she can put you in touch.
The house was pretty much as described. It is not a castle but met all of our needs.
Have you visited Nicaragua before? If not, do your homework before going. Nicaragua is a poor country but rich in fantastic people. Be prepared to mingle, meet people at least half way and leave your dress shoes and diamonds at home. Bring sincere hugs and be prepared for the adventure of a lifetime! Entertainment is everywhere with a healthy frame of mind.
Some things work on a different time frame. Be flexible.

Great beach and house!
Really enjoyed the private beach and wounderful house. Caretakers were wounderful. Would definitely go back.
Long drive on a bumpy road but well worth it! Marina and her family are wonderful. This place is even more beautiful than the pictures.
The nearby town of Leon has all necessary services and provides many tour alternatives. A favorite here is volcano boarding and we can help you arrange a tour.
