Fabulous house, beautifully decorated, and in a great location. The Blue House is a perfect choice!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Blue House. Jessica and Shawn have thought of everything. The house is gorgeous, roomy, and well stocked with food and fine linens. The location is perfect for exploring Portland, the southern and northern coasts of Maine, and the lake district of New Hampshire. The only downside to starting your vacation here is that no place can live up to your expectations after this one! Scratch Bakery is just a few steps from the front door and should be deemed a national treasure. Thank you, Jessica and Shawn, for making us so comfortable in your home. We're sad to leave but know we'll be back again!

Best wishes, Joni Waddell

Excellent house. Great amenities. Clean and well equipped.

  • 5 of 5

Our family 8 adults and a baby spent a week at the Blue house and loved it. It was perfect for our needs. We enjoyed fixing great meals in the well equipped kitchen. It was so wonderful to have things like paper towels, trash bags, plastic bags etc provided so that we didn't have to buy everything. In addition the welcome bag and a few libations in the frig were a nice surprise. Jessica provided a port -a-crib with linens and a jogging stroller. Wow. The tub is great - a few adults used it. A door rather than a curtain on the bedroom door would be nice for privacy. The beds were very comfy and we enjoyed exploring Portland and So Portland. The bakery is amazing across the street, so that was nice to walk to. All in all a wonderful time. We'd love to come back someday.

Beautiful time at the Blue House!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 6 (2 grown daughters, son-in-law, husband and 3 year old granddaughter) stayed in the Blue House for a week. We had ample room for sleeping with comfortable beds in light and airy rooms! The location was superb! We love Scratch Bakery across the street and had ice cream every night at the local ice creamery (right across the street!) We could walk to the beach in the morning, afternoon and at sunset since it was a few blocks away! Portland is a fun city and a short drive away. We had great meals in Portland and a great meal in South Portland, a few blocks away, at David's. We had fun doing many "child oriented activities" including the children's museum, a duck boat tour, bowling (on a rainy day), an antique train ride and trips to local playgrounds. We also saw a free outdoor play in Portland. The beach has its own playground and Jessica provided many beach toys for us to use. She also provided games, toys and books that were enjoyed! My daughter was able to walk to a yoga class several times and the front porch offered a wonderful place to sip a drink, sit and read or people watch. The kitchen was very well equipped with so many spices and staples! We would love to stay in the Blue House again! Jessica was so helpful and such a great host! She even mailed something we forgot back to us!! Thanks Jessica!

Perfect Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We visited the Blue House on Willard Square last year with our two small children. This was our first trip to Maine. The Blue House was absolutely perfect and so charming. You could see that Jessica and Shawn put so much thought into every detail. They were both so kind and warm and you felt like family when you stayed at their home.

The kitchen / dining area was my favorite part of the house. So spacious and open and beautifully designed. We would enjoy our breakfast with the kids every morning on the kitchen island. They had everything from a high chair, play pen, safety gates, sand toys, games, books, and so much more to ensure our stay was comfortable. We really felt like we were home and this is so important when traveling with little ones.

We loved that we were only a few blocks from the beach and often took early morning walks there just to see the residents walking their dogs. Everyone was so friendly. Ice cream and baked goods were only a few steps away which kept everyone very happy. There were also a few playgrounds nearby which was great.

Thank you Jessica and Shawn for a wonderful stay. We hope to be back again soon.

Sister's 60th Birthday Celebration

  • 5 of 5

Our experience at The Blue House on Willard Square was just what we had hoped for. The house was exactly as described and the kitchen was the best I have experienced with all the house rentals I have experienced over the years. The beautiful enhancement of the copper tub and extra toilet in the small former bedroom upstairs was a great addition. Seven adults stayed at the house and another group stayed with my brother in Portland. The beds were incredibly comfortable in all the bedrooms. We enjoyed feeding our crowd and had plenty of room inside and out for everyone to sit down and enjoy the dinners we shared. The location was ideal, a short walk to Willard Beach with beach chairs, towels and umbrella provided. Our favorite was Scratch Bakery for afternoon coffee, bagels, bread and the best coconut cake for my sister's birthday. Willard Scoops got to know us well too, with some of the best ice cream around.

Jessica and Shawn were helpful before, during and after our visit with ample instructions on what they expected of us and were super sweet about answering our questions. The proximity to Portland, their farmers market, fish markets, bakeries and outstanding restaurants (Eventide, Miyake, Five Fifty-Five, Fore Street were enjoyed during our visit) was a big draw for our foodie family. We enjoyed visiting lighthouses, beaches (Willard, Higgins, Kettle Cove, Crescent and Scarborough), farms, lobster food trucks and lobster shacks. We were blessed with glorious summer weather during our mid July 2016 visit.

Thank you sharing your outstanding house for our family celebration, we highly recommend The Blue House.

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Seeing The Blue House in person was even better than the pictures! It was a perfect house for a family vacation. It was well organized, clean, spacious, and truly a home away from home. Jessica went above and beyond to meet our needs. I could not stop raving about the house to my clients, family, and friends. They are even considering staying there for their future vacations. Thank you and we hope to come visit again!
