About Lori

Our family, originally from the Midwest, now calls California home. We share a love for adventure, nature, good food and relaxation. We welcome you and hope you enjoy this restorative, magical slice of Northern California.

Lori purchased this house in 2015

Why Lori chose San Francisco Bay Area

We fell in love with Tomales Bay on our first visit - the stunning views, multitude of outdoor activities, and exquisite local food and wine - it's the best of what Northern California has to offer.

What makes this house unique

One can spend the day mesmerized by the waves on the bay, and the options for adventurous souls are endless. The famous Hog Island Oyster Co., Marshall Store and Blue Waters Kayaking are only steps from our front door. Beautiful redwood forests and recreation in the Russian River Valley lie to the North, the world-renowned wine regions of Sonoma and Napa to the East, San Francisco to the South, and the untouched natural beauty of the Point Reyes National Seashore to the West.

Pure serenity!

  • 5 of 5

We love Sea Mist! The view across Tomales Bay is spectacular, and enhanced when viewed from the hot tub. The cottage itself is comfortable and cozy, and the kitchen is great for cooking. It doesn't matter that there isn't much nearby because you won't want to leave--the best view is right here. But if you want an activity, Hog Island Oysters is less than a mile away, and The Marshall Store is a stone's throw away. The cute little town of Point Reyes is a few minutes away. You will find a great bookstore there where you can stock up in preparation for nothing but relaxation and reading with your view of Tomales Bay at Sea Mist. Do not expect perfection with regard to furniture, as it is a bit shabby chic, but that's what makes it comfortable. The kitchen is very workable, and is always the site of a phenomenal spaghetti and meatballs dinner for us with homemade bread with rosemary from the garden. There is plenty of closet space and comfortable bedding. Most of all, Lori was wonderful to work with. We will definitely return again and again to Sea Mist. The first day we arrive, all of the stress and strain of the work year melts away within minutes. Nothing remains but the beautiful views, the warm soaks, the books read, the family meals shared, and a sense of bliss.

Disappointing. Not like photos.

  • 2 of 5

We chose this place based on the location (an area we've stayed in before and loved) and the photos. Well, apparently, the photos were taken for a magazine in 2009. The old girl has some miles on her since then. The place reeks of mold and mildew, an issue we have not encountered in other places along the bay. The deck on which one would hope to take in the view looks like it is about to fall off. The chairs are not inviting unless you enjoy splinters. While we were there the hot tub was not working and no discount for the inconvenience was offered. The tub sits precariously on the deck with no barrier to the bay. Good luck with that in the dark. Making a meal in the kitchen is like camping out. All the tools and pans in both kitchens should be replaced with something manufactured after the 1950s. The photos are particularly deceptive when it comes to the bedrooms in the main building. They are small and worn, the mattresses old and lumpy. The door from the studio to the deck kept flying open. The door handle came off in our hands. Giving it two stars because of the view. If you like your uncle's fishing shack, you'll love this place.

Just LOVE this place!!!

  • 5 of 5

SeaMist has to be one of the most idyllic locations around the Bay Area. Resting gently on the waters of Tomales Bay, this lovely hideaway offers a relaxing location close to all sort of amazing opportunities. Point Reyes National Seashore, Point Reyes Station, Dillon Beach, what more could one want? The house is only steps from Kayak rentals and Hog Island Oysters! All only a short drive from anywhere in the Bay Area.

We have stayed here numerous times, and each time gets a little bit better. The house is very clean and charming with everything you could ask for in a quiet retreat.

Wonderful long weekend

  • 4 of 5

My friend and I were looking for an affordable way to spend a long weekend on Tomales Bay, and we found it. Seamist I is a clean, no-frills option for being in one of the most beautiful environments in northern CA. Sandy, the property manager, made the arrangements easy; she even came ahead of time and made sure the hot tub was working for us after some inclement weather had shut it down. The outdoor spaces at Seamist are spectacular. I sat on the deck and dock each morning and evening and spied an abundance of wildlife-- sea otters, sea lions, loons, pelicans,--you name it. At night, we listened to an owl hooting while we were enjoying the too-hot hot tub (just take the cover off about 90 minutes before your soak). The interior of Seamist I is pedestrian but comfy, including the beds. If you've come to Point Reyes/Tomales Bay to luxuriate in the great outdoors, this is the place for you.
