CHEERS AND HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU!!!
We selected this property because of its location and its 5 star reviews. The listing was accurate as were the photos. The location is perfect for walking to most of Rome’s attractions. The property is clean but did show some signs of age. There are several restaurants in the square right outside the apartment and a gelato shop very close by. The soundproofing of the windows is good and the bedrooms are at the rear of the apartment so noise from outside was not a problem. However, the garbage bins and recycling containers are in the hallway of the first floor and noisy. Like many apartments in the old areas of Rome, the electric supply is inadequate. Every night if the four of us got showers, the electrical load of the water heater together with the AC units would trip the main breaker leaving us in darkness. The internet router would reset and we would have to re-enter the 12 digit password. Other apartments we have rented in Rome and elsewhere have come equipped with soap, Kleenex, light continental breakfast items and a bottle of wine to welcome us. We have also often found a folder with maps, directions, local restaurant menus and the owner’s personal recommendations. All we found was a map. The absence of these items made for a less welcoming experience. There are two quiet AC units mounted in a bedroom and the living room. The other bedroom has a large floor standing unit which was very loud even at its lowest setting. It was loud enough that the couple in the other bedroom said it kept them awake. The owner lives on the 4th floor, Lele is the agent. Lele had told us the apartment had a washing machine. When we could not find it we contacted her and found it was on the roof of the building. We found the door to the roof was locked but fortunately encountered the owner the next day who told us she could unlock the roof when we needed to use it. The owner seemed very helpful.
The driver Lele arranged for us, Yuri, was surprised that the four adults he was picking up had 4 suitcases (24-26” size) since he had only brought a car with trunk space. We had suitcases on our laps for the drive in. He felt it was my fault because I had not specified 4 suitcases when I booked.
I have tried to be informative to renters and helpful to the owner and agent. I would certainly consider renting this unit in the future because of its location. I could not rate it as 5 stars but with a few steps to make it more welcoming it merits 4 stars.
Love this place! Very helpful owner. Clean and location is perfect on a small square with fruit stall in the morning and buzzing dining during evening. Windows, that open, towards this square from lounge and kitchen. 1 min from pantheon and walking distance to all the main tourist attractions. Supermarket just 1 min away too. We were with 6 people and lounge area was a bit small to seat all comfortable. But other than that it was the perfect place and would use again.
This apartment is spacious, comfortable, well-maintained, and located in a great neighborhood within easy walking distance to many sites. To begin the owner, Lele Gallo, was very easy to communicate with and quickly responded to my initial inquiries, as well as arranged a driver for pick-up from the airport upon arrival. During our stay the apartment manager, Francesca, was extremely kind and responsive when we asked about the best way for travel to different areas of interest within Rome. She also helped us arrange for transportation when we returned to the airport.
The apartment was comfortable for us (two adults and two children) and we certainly appreciated the free Wi-Fi! There are two bedrooms with Queen size beds in each. There is a full bathroom with shower and a separate half bathroom (toilet and sink) which proved very helpful when the four of us our trying to clean-up in the mornings and evenings. We absolutely adored the neighborhood which had plenty of amazing restaurants and retail shops. In fact, there is a restaurant next door to the right (if you're facing the apartment) that is to die for! Every morning a small produce stand sets up in the quad area in front of the apartment, and it was fun to buy fresh local fruits and veggies. There is also a drinking water fountain in the quad area from which our children enjoyed drinking - we were a little hesitant, but when I asked the fruit stand owner he said, "Of course!" The water is fresh and sweet, and didn't make us sick :)
The apartment description is accurate and the sites listed truly are in walking distance. We did not have to use a taxi or bus during our stay in Rome. For any toiletry needs there are plenty of "Farmacias" around. Just look for the green neon cross signs. The people we encountered in Rome are warm and friendly and know enough English to make us feel comfortable.
This apartment was ideal in making our first trip to Rome a fantastic experience which we will always treasure. We hope to stay there again and we highly recommend to others! Many thanks to Lele and Francesca!
