What makes this Cottage unique
Rural - Scenic Location - All Inclusive
cosy cottage, wonderful location, stunning area
We had a great week in Glencolmcille, a perfect first stay in Donegal. Despite some very wild, cold and windy weather over Easter, the cottage was warm and comfortable (central heating from Rayburn and we bought turf for an authentic fire) and the kitchen fabulously well equipped. Great views down to the sea and, in sunny moments, sitting outside for afternoon sun and sunsets. Much potential for walking (up to the tower, Port fishing village, Malinbeg) and beaches and mountains within easy reach (we did Slieve League in the snow!). Recommend Narin beach, and from the many pubs, Nancy's in Andara for atmosphere and a sublime chowder. The local Glen Head bar also very friendly. Spontaneous traditional music in the small bar one night.
Remote traditional village, family cottage in the country
We were warm and comfortable in our cozy cottage, taking over the 3 bedrooms that would comfortably fit a family or several friends. The well stocked kitchen made cooking a delight with a view across the glen of sheep grazing and mist rolling in from the sea. The decor was homey family style with a small fireplace that we never tried out because the central heating was toasty and easily dried our laundry on the rack. Pauline the manager helped us find the place which wasn't so difficult in daylight. Later we saw her at the wool mill shop her family owns, so make sure you visit for some real Irish knitted sweaters! We were among farms on a country road, beautiful to walk or bike, 5 minutes from Glencolumcille, the traditional village, and famous Turas, holy pilgrimage.
