Wonderful cottage to stay while you roam the area
A wonderful cottage , located close to Doolin and Lisdoonvarna, with all the amneties you can imagine.
Surrounded by walking paths, gorgeous scenery and overlooking the sea, I would definitely return.
We had a fantastic week . Great view. Clean house.
. A pity there was a leak in the bath so we couldn t use it. And there were to short on plates and cups.
Beautiful home. Well cared for in a beautiful location. Near by Lisdoonvarna is a great town with friendly people. The pub was a friendly place with great live music
Lovely well-equipped cottage with great location
Beautiful cottage with a lovely view of the area! It's close to Doolin and the Cliffs of Moher, and other great sites within an hour's drive or so. The cottage is very nicely done, with a nice layout for larger groups. We felt spoiled there, and it was hard to leave in the morning. The kitchen area is large, well-equipped, and had paper towels, dish soap, coffee, tea, sugar, and some basic spices. There was a kettle, coffee maker, and microwave/convection/grill combo.
One previous review said the photo was not the right cottage - that's not true. The view shown in the photo is what I would call the back side, but it's the first view you see as you come in from the direction of Doolin or Lisdoonvarna. From that side, if you crest the hill, you can see the Cliffs of Moher if the sky is clear enough. The other side is what I would call the front -- there is a gate, and the main door that we used to get in and out. I would recommend keeping the gate closed, not for security (we felt very safe there) but to keep stray animals out. One morning we were greeted by a pair of donkeys in the yard, who were shooed out, but not before they munched on some of the landscaping and did their business by the gate. There is a horse-riding tour that goes by the house. We might have done it if the weather were warmer and clearer -- absolutely gorgeous views in the area. Farther past the house was a great view of the sun setting on the water below.
The key holder met us near a convenience store and gave us some time to buy some necessities before heading to the cottage. Buy only what you need until you can get to a larger store. There was only one roll of toilet paper in the cottage for the two bathrooms (I think it was an oversight and not standard procedure). We left laundry detergent and dishwasher detergent - hopefully they are still there. We went to Ennistymon for groceries - several stores there, including an Aldi located near a lovely old church and cemetery. There are shopping bags in the kitchen cabinets by the laundry.
We didn't use the bikes - the roads are very small, winding, and hilly. We also couldn't get the lock to open.
In the kitchen was lots of information about area attractions, including a Rick Steves book and a couple other books for planning. Be sure to hit McGann's or McDermott's for live music in Doolin starting around 9:30 pm.
Loved our stay at this cottage -- hope to be back soon!
Perfect and I don't want to go home.
I absolutely love this area, perfect property, very clean and well maintained. Everything you need for a week or 2 stay.
Area is amazing with breathtaking views. And Gus O'Connors pub just down the road. Can't recommend enough. Really don't want to go home.
We went to the property and it was not the one described when we rented it. It didn't look like the picture wasn't sitting on the lot in the same way and was miles from lisdoonvarna in a very isolated section of the burren. We did not stay there.
