Not as advertised
The Secret Garden at Sligo turned out to be a weed fringed lawn featuring a shipping container, wheely bins and plastic drums. The cottage was heated by a quaint but ineffectual peat fire (the central heating did not work). The water was dirty and undrinkable, with no pressure or hot water in the kitchen or bathroom basins. The cottage was grubby, the toilet permanently stained, the fridge had mildew all around the seal, the windows were never free from condensation and dirt, the whole cottage was damp. The first thing we had to do was clean the hob from the oil splatter and bits of onion left by the previous tenants and not cleaned in between. The WiFi did not work (Internet could be accessed by sitting outside Kieran's house in the rain and cold). Kieran lied to us about the Internet, that he had not been paid by the agent, and that we had left the water heater on (which we had not, but he said we did when we asked for a refund), the lack of water pressure and the quality of water, among other things. We left after 3 of the 7 nights we had booked leaving us out of pocket but did not want to stay in a cold, damp cottage with an unfriendly host.
