About Chris Sheafe
Owners are people who love the mountains and who take great care and pride in maintaining the home in the mountains. Both winter and summer enthusiasts with many mountain interests.
Chris Sheafe purchased this House in 1993
Why Chris Sheafe chose Lakeside
The property was purchased because it is spacious having been originally built as a full time residence on a very large private tree covered site. Extensive upgrades were added to the property over the years to take advantage of the setting and the size of the home. Located in a quiet area that is very close to all of the services and activities available in the Pinetop-Lakeside area while just far enough away from the main roads to offer unique privacy and quietness.
What makes this House unique
Size, convenience, location and privacy all in a beautiful setting. Rare find for a interval use property in the Pinetop Lakeside area.

Six adults and my new grandbaby stayed the 4th of July week. We road our bikes, hiked, played Cornhole in the drive and board games at the kitchen table at night. We were looking for a little cooler weather that didn't happen, so it was a little warm at night, but by morning it was cool and nice sitting on the front porch. I baked two cakes and we cooked on the grill without any issues. All appliances worked great. The only issue I shared with the owner was trash in the garage from previous renters. He already had plans to resolve this problem. It is a little dated, but nothing that should stop you from having a nice time in the pines.
My family and myself loved staying in this cabin. Unfortunately we visited during a heat wave and it was a little warm in the cabin but was cool outside in the evenings and we enjoyed sitting outside and relaxing. It was great for my family and my grandchildren loved being able to run around the spacious yard. There was twelve of us vacationing and we had plenty of room in this cabin.
Even on very hot days which happen once in a while the temperature drops quickly in the mountains so the uncomfortable time is limited to a few hours. Just the same, we are adding portable evaporative cooling which works very well until the cooling rains hold temperatures down on all days after they start and last though the end of the summer every year. For a few weeks prior to the afternoon rains hot days are possible. It is best to be prepared.
House is very dated. I do not recommend.
This house is very dated with little to no upgrades. Some interior doors would not shut. Windows and sliding doors very difficult to open. When we got there, there were 3 bags of trash in the garage. Neighbors dog barked every morning. Save your money and go some place else.
Apparently the resident was not pleased with their stay which contrasts sharply with all previous occupants. The dated element is correct in that the home is well furnished with furnishings that have been added over time as is the case with any home in longer term ownership. For example, the living room couch and recliner chair were replaced two years ago and the king bed in the master was replaced one year ago. Over time those type of changes are being made on a continuing basis and that process will continue as needs become apparent.
The issue with accumulated trash results from some larger groups who accumulate more trash than our one container can accommodate. The fix is we have just added two containers so the refuse from each group can be contained and picked up with one collection. Being one of the larger homes available in the market has resulted in groups involving multiple couples and accordingly more trash than typical.
We appreciate critical comments in addition to the normal highly complimentary comments we generally receive because it helps us focus on areas of need which are always responded to when received.
Large place with wonderful views and location is perfect!
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because it is a little bit outdated and with a 40 gallon water heater, we ran out of hot water for the kids showers. Once we figured that out, not a big deal. For the price, however, it is a really nice cabin. There is a nice fenced yard and Chris was really responsive once we arrived and wanted to make sure we were comfortable. We would love to come back and appreciate the hospitality. Thank you!
The comment is accurate and appreciated. The interior décor is a little dated. Our response to that condition which occurs over time is to gradually update elements as time and finances allow. The primary focus is to maintain the comfortable condition of the home and keep everything in good repair. The water heater is actually 80 gallon and normally we do not experience hot water shortages. It is purposely oversized for the home due to the need for it to support all three bathrooms and kitchen. I will check to make sure it is properly cycling at full capacity. It is helpful to know a hot water shortage occurred. This guest was helpful in identifying a few issues and also in rotating the garbage collection system. Very good guest from our perspective.
This is a big, warm, cozy and fully stocked cabin, it was perfect for our family, pups included!
We had an amazing time in this wonderful cabin! It started with the great communication with Chris from the moment we booked. When we arrived we found everything just as explained and more! The backyard was huge and perfect for the pups and the kids had tons of room to play inside and out! The neighborhood is lovely and super convenient. We cooked up big family meals in the fully stocked kitchen and had plenty of room for everyone with tons of laughter and games around the table. The back enclosed porch is a great added bonus! It adds lots of extra room is light and bright and perfect for coffee in the morning! All the rooms are comfortable size and the master suite is super spacious. Plenty of bathrooms and hot showers for our large group. The large front porch and driveway area were perfect for our nights of hilarious cornhole competitions and the fire pit was perfect for s’mores and more laughter! The only thing missing from this amazing family vacation was a little snow. However, with the sleds that are provided in the garage, we still managed to get some sledding in for the kids with a quick drive up to Sunrise which worked out great! Thank you Chris for your hospitality! We could not have had a better time and we will definitely be back! It absolutely was “Heaven in the Mountains” for us!
Thanks again, The Savage’s
I am very pleased you enjoyed your visit to our home in the White Mountains. The intention is to provide a high quality experience. If you think of any improvement that we could make or piece of equipment that would be useful I would appreciate receiving your thoughts. It was a pleasure being your host.
Stay in the pines Dec. 2017
This was our first time renting a property and we were well pleased. It's a beautiful home that's very spacious and roomy. We had 8 people in our group but it would accommodate 12 just fine. A lot of the interior is outdated but in excellent condition. And everything you can think of is provided for you in the home, cooking utensils, pots, pans, dishes, laundry detergent, shampoo, soap and the list goes on and on. We would definitely stay here again if we ever got the chance.
The White Mountain recreation area is filled with convenience and adventure with many types of both winter and summer activities such as hiking, horseback riding, gaming casino, restaurants, cinema, large number of sports activities, golf, hiking and enjoyable relaxing.
