Great location in Trastevere
We were very pleased with the location and though quite small, we thought the apartment was just fine for a short stay for 2 adults and 2 teens. Sofa was not as pictured, only 3 people could sit there and the apartment lacked for a comfortable place for a fourth person to sit. However, we weren't spending a whole lot of time hanging/sitting around other than to cool off mid-day in the air conditioning after a busy day touring around Rome. Outside noise did not bother us much - to be expected in what is a very lively neighborhood. The apartment was fairly clean and sleeping accommodations were comfortable. As mentioned by other reviewers, the bathroom is very much in need of an upgrade.
We had a wonderful time here —fantastic location! Highly recommended —this is a very fun part of town :)
Not quite as expected
This apartment just did not live up to the expectations the photos and descriptions on VRBO set for us. The street outside the apartment is incredibly dirty, there is graffiti on every building, and weeds growing everywhere. The inside of the apartment building is filthy, a homeless person was living in the common foyer, and they spiral stairway up to the apartment is extremely small and winding making it difficult to get luggage up and down. The apartment itself is ok, but very spartan. There are no pictures on the walls or decorations to make it feel like a "home". It has a small kitchenette, but you couldn't really cook a meal there if you wanted to because there is not much space for food prep (chopping vegetables, mixing ingredients, etc.). The bed was reasonably comfortable - no complaints there. However, the bathroom was sub-par. The sink faucet was not attached properly and felt as if it would break off every time we turned the water on. There was mold on the floor around the shower - most likely because the shower enclosure was much too small and it was impossible to take a shower without water going all over the bathroom.
As mentioned by others, the street noise and music was loud but that was wholly expected for the neighborhood and not a problem for us.
In summary, the apartment's VRBO description and photos make it look large, airy, and fresh but the reality for us was an apartment that felt small, dark, and dated. With some decorations, new light bulbs, bathroom repairs, and updated fixtures this could be the charming apartment described in the ad.
Great apartment to experience Trastevere
The apartment is on a picturesque and lively street. It was just the right size for the two of us, clean and comfortable. If you’re a light sleeper bring earplugs: the night life is active until quite late! There are wonderful restaurants and shops all around and a delicious sandwich shop directly across the street.
The shower, mentioned by other reviewers, remains problematic. If you stand in the absolute corner of the shower without moving much you can avoid soaking the bathroom entirely.
Caution: when you get checked in and oriented to the apartment, be sure you ask for a demo on how the door works. We did not get one and got locked out almost immediately. We’d left the extra key in the lock inside the apartment (I couldn’t seem to open the door without using key from inside) even though we had a key with us. Antonio came and got us back in then wanted to charge us 40 euros. It was not a great start to our trip but we still had a good stay.
Clean and Bright!
Such a BEAUTIFUL and WONDERFUL experience!!!! A great and safe location! The apartment was perfect!
Thank you so much!
Nice place in the perfect spot!
It was very nice although the shower was a bit difficult to use. Everything was clean and the area was great. It’s in the center of the nightlife which was perfect for us, but may be a bit too much for some. We’d definitely stay here again!!
Thank you Alex,
I'm so happy about it!
You are welcome and I'm renovating the shower.
