Waynesville Cottage Rental Photos and Description

3 Bedroom, 2 1/2 bath/ Large Dining Area/Private Screened in Deck with Hot Tub

"Deborah's Cottage" has been given much love and care by Deborah and her husband, Curtis, over the past twelve years. At the end of an easily accessible private lane, the home is situated in a quiet and safe neighborhood.

The front of the home has an open deck with a dining table for visiting or watching the cook grill steaks or burgers. Making sure no one is left out of the conversation, you can leave the patio doors open into the kitchen/dining area. There is plenty of space for everyone.

The bedrooms are on separate ends of the home, for extra privacy. Two bedrooms have decks for private or intimate seating.

The upstairs master suite provides a screened in porch with a 5 person hot tub. You may invite your other guests to join you, or enjoy the privacy. Also, enjoy the luxury of sleeping on a king size hybrid bed of foam and springs. Soft sheets and covers are added for your comfort.

Two sets of towels are provided for each guest. Bedding is often line dried to provide you with the fresh scent of the mountains.

Another guest favorite is the cozy warmth of the wood stove, located in the kitchen/dining area. Warm yourselves during a chilly morning or cool mountain evening with the wood stove. Firewood is provided without fee.

The cottage is tucked away in the woods with the luxury of easy access to all the main attractions of the area. Guests can easily gain access to all the main highways leading to popular nearby towns, including Asheville, Bryson City, Cherokee, Maggie Valley and Waynesville.

While staying in the cottage, you and your guests will have the convenience of close proximity to important events, while having a private setting to enjoy the opportunity of peaceful time away from other activities.

Lake Junaluska Assembly amenities are less than a mile from the cottage. Here, guests may jog or stroll the 2.6 mile loop around the lake. Many enjoy swimming in the pool, paddle boarding on the lake, or playing tennis, miniature golf, and more.

Equally important, a short distance from the cottage is the Lake Junaluska Golf Course, an 18 hole, par 68 course, with clubhouse, cart rental and more.

With easy access to the cottage during winter season, guests heading to Cataloochee Ski Area will benefit from the convenience of getting to the ski slopes in about twenty minutes!

Other area attractions include Biltmore Estate, Historic Cherokee, the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. There is also an abundance of dining options at nearby restaurants.

About Deborah Horn

Hello! Our names are Curtis and Deborah Horn.

Curt and I were childhood sweethearts from the Midwest. We married young and had two children. When our children left home we decided to live out our own dreams.

Curt loves to hike, and I love Curt, so off we went to seek a home in the Smoky Mountains. Not to be left behind, our adult children followed us. Since there simply wasn't enough of us, our family adopted two little girls shortly after we moved to the area.

Curtis and I live a short distance from the cottage and personally manage all aspects of it.

I am a multi-instrumentalist and voice coach who provides music lessons from my home based music studio. Many of my students enjoy participating and earning a little tip money during Waynesville's Art Council events and County festivals.

Curtis is a Licensed Landscape Contractor and Wildlife Conservationist. As the grounds manager of Biltmore Estate, he is very busy keeping up with everything from the wild animals to the roads you travel during your visit to the estate.

Deborah Horn purchased this cottage in 2004

Why Deborah Horn chose Smoky Mountains

We purchased this cottage in 2004 with the intent of developing it into a rental home. After we bought it, we liked the home and the area so much, we decided to live in it ourselves! Twelve years later, we decided it was time to build our own dream retirement home in the same neighborhood.

After we moved out, they couldn't bring ourselves to give up the cottage. Friends and relatives begin asking to rent it out as a convenient location for those wanting to experience many of the popular vacationer highlights. These include Biltmore Estate, Cherokee Casino, Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Blue Ridge Parkway, Lake Junaluska Assembly, and Waynesville. This was our sign that now was the time to share our beautiful cottage hideaway with others.

Like our guests, we greatly enjoy the beauty and privacy of Deborah's Cottage. With woods on all sides of the home, it is like a private retreat.

We have enjoyed watching chipmunks, groundhogs, squirrels, birds and butterflies from the hot tub and decks. Enchanting cottage flowers bloom from early March until November.

After you have stayed at our cottage you will understand what others have shared and why we all love this little vacation home.

What makes this cottage unique

The cottage is year round accessible. Its convenient, yet private location and peaceful surroundings of this cottage is what drew us in to this home. We are part of the Lake Junaluska Assembly. However, our home a located across the highway from the main assembly grounds. The privacy of this home is enhanced by the beautiful wooded setting which surrounds it. The golf course is directly up the hill from the home.

The master suite and the hot tub are the favorites. Knowing how important sleep and bed comfort is to all travelers, we chose a high end hybrid king size mattress for the master bedroom. You experience the comfort of the foam and the support of springs. To enhance your sleeping comfort, Deborah likes to hang the bedding out on the clothes line for extra freshness. Next, and equally beautiful, is the newly remodeled kitchen/dining area. The open layout and seating leave no one out of the conversation while preparing a meal. The dining/ kitchen area is well equipt with more than basic kitchen needs. There is enough room to sit a party of 8 or more, comfortably. The second bedroom is located on the opposite side from the master, for extra privacy. It also has a private deck for you to enjoy relaxing before or at the end of your day. Last, one of the biggest selling factors for us, is the easy access to US 19 and Interstate 40. Restaurants are minutes away within the Waynesville and Maggie Valley area. Not to be overlooked, it's a short 30 minute drive into Asheville.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I spent a 4-day Spring Break trip in Deborah's cottage with 4 of my girlfriends and we had an absolutely wonderful time! The cottage was so comfortable and truly felt like a home away from home. We took day trips into Asheville every day and the drive was easy and very scenic. We spent all our evenings relaxing in the hot tub, which was also a highlight of the trip. Deborah was a fantastic hostess and made sure that we were having a great time and that we had everything we needed. After our experience in this cottage, we will definitely be coming back again!

Wonderful stay in NC - will come back for sure!

  • 5 of 5

We were visiting NC for the first time (coming from Paris - France) and stayed for 4 nights at Deborah's cottage. Her house is lovely, surrounded by woods making it super quiet and charming, a lot of rooms, and a large family style dining area that we enjoyed so much! The beds are extremely comfortable, the house is super cleaned and all appliances are well maintained. We had to arrive late, so Deborah's put lights and heater on before our arrival. She has decorated the house for Halloween time, so we could enjoy like true Americans. I truly recommend staying at Deborah's cottage. We were able to visit many beautiful places around (Lake Junaluska, Lake Lure & Chimney Rock, the Great Smoky Mountains, the Blue Ridge parkway and the vibrant Asheville. I just want to come back, as soon as we can! Thank you Deborah, we had a wonderful time!

What a wonderful time we had at Deborah's Cottage, beautifully decorated, spacious, clean, comfortable beds, and a relaxing atmosphere at the decks around the property, you could see the woods changing colors and all the wild life, around you and a short distance from Waynesvile.

. When we come back to Waynesville we would have one and only one choice "Deborah's Cottage."I also need to mentioned how nice was Deborah and concern about all our needs.I would like to rate this property

Fabulous Mountain Weekend Retreat!

  • 5 of 5

We can't say enough good things to adequately express how thrilled we were with our recent stay at Deborah's Cottage. It is lovely, the setting is breathtaking in the midst of all those beautiful NC mountains, and Deborah had the cottage ready and welcoming for us upon our arrival. Our only slight disappointment was that the leaves weren't quite ready to change color the weekend we visited. We will definitely return and recommend this location and cottage to anyone who wants a fabulous getaway weekend location.

Thanks so much Deborah!

Thoughtful details, relaxing hot tub!

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely time at the cottage. Deborah's little touches here and there were very welcoming. We loved the hot tub off of the master bedroom. It was enclosed on a screened-in porch so we had no bugs, and the area was private with a view of the woods. It is hidden within the golf course and is only a couple of minutes from Lake Junaluska (the actual lake). Very convenient! Thank you for a great getaway.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

The cottage and property were very nice. Cottage was very clean and well appointed. Deborah is a wonderful owner and was always available when I had a question. The lovely welcome card, the bottle of sparkling grape juice and fudge was greatly appreciated. I liked to sit on the back steps and watch the antics of the squirrels and chipmunks! Lol! The master suite upstairs is perfect and the bed and blankets so comfortable. They say the heart of a home is the kitchen. Well Deborah I absolutely love your kitchen ❤️Thanks for sharing your wonderful cottage with us. Definitely will stay again.
