Vence is one of the most beautiful, historic hill top towns on the French Riveria. Many artists, such as Chagall and Matisse, chose this as there place to live. The Condo is newly built with all top of the line, modern conveniences. There is a fabulous private terrace overlooking the pool and garden area, where lavender grows in abundance. The living room has a pull out sofa bed to accommodate guests. The bedroom has a king sized bed and opens to the terrace. The layout of the condo provides amble space for privacy.
Hi - we have been travelling to France for years and had always wanted to own a place there. We finally fulfilled our dream and bought this condo back in 2012, and have been enjoying the South of France since.
Capt. Gilbert J. Tunney purchased this condo in 2012
Location, Location, Location! There is no better base for exploring the Cote d'Azur and the entire South of France than Vence. Just a sample of the many things to do close by ... Monaco (shopping / casino), Old town Nice (street markets / restaurants), Cannes, Antibes (great market and Musee Picasso), Cape Ferrat (St. Jean village - beautiful for dinner or an afternoon bottle of rose), Villefrance Sur Mer, Haut d' Cagnes (Renoir's house), EZE - a must see cliff top town, Mougins (art galleries and great restaurants), St. Tropez is 1.5 hours by car, and so much more.
This condo is located in a beautiful, peaceful residential section of Vence, surrounded by multi-million Euro villas. A short walk of less than 5 min lands you in the heart of the historic walled in bustling village where you will find interesting shopping, excellent restaurants, cafes, bars, museums, grocery stores, churches, and public transportation.
We spent 2 weeks in this apartment and were delighted with our holiday.
This charming flat is located in a quiet neighbourhood of Vence, and is approximately 5 to 10 minutes walk from the town centre and all of its amenities.
The apartment is tastefully furnished and modern, with a large living/dining room, fully-functional kitchen, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, and a lovely sunny terrace overlooking the pool.
This is a lovely place in which to base yourselves to relax, enjoy the old town of Vence, go walking or cycling in the hills or explore the beautiful surrounding area. You can also discover historical sites, beautiful scenic villages and go to music events during the summer in Vence.
sehr schön, toller Ort , gute Erholung.
This vacation property exceeded our expectations. The apartment was spacious and both the living room and the bed room opened out to a private patio and garden. The list provided by the owners of places to see and to dine helped immensely. The property is a short trip by car or bus from Nice and there is easy access to museums, restaurants, markets ,art galleries and beaches in Antibes and Cannes. And we especially appreciated the fact that it is within walking distance to the old town section of Vence with its wonderful out door cafes, restaurants and Matisse's famous chapel. We had breakfast out on the patio every morning as well as a memorable dinner there under a star lit sky. (meal provided by the chicken lady in the old town market-not to be missed). Also, the fabulous hill town of St. Paul is only a ten minute drive away. We have traveled quite a bit and this was one of our best experiences ever. We would like to return again.
My daughter and I enjoyed a ten day stay at this lovely apartment, situated so conveniently and easy walking distance to public transport and the picturesque, historic Old Vence. It was wonderful to feel like a local and amble along the tree lined road from the property to the market, restaurants and local treasures such as the Matisse Chapel. The hosts, Gilbert and Gilda, were very helpful with suggestions on restaurants such as Colombe D'Or…a must for lunch, and other local favorites. The kitchen was well stocked with cookware and crockery, and the King Bed was very comfortable, as was the Queen sofa bed couch…as I slept in both during my stay. The sliding doors off the living room open up to a spacious terrace and garden overlooking the pool and the tidy garden, with peek views of the Mediterranean Sea. It was the perfect spot to discreetly sunbathe and to enjoy an evening aperitif before dinner. It was also handy having Wi Fi available and the TV and DVD player to enjoy a movie on the one day that it rained during our stay. I would hope to revisit this place again, and to stay in this cozy apartment during my stay.
Vence, known as the City of Flowers, is a French village set in the hills of the Alpes Maritimes department in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region in southeastern France between Nice and Antibes. Within the historic medieval walled village there are numerous interesting sights and monuments. The Peyra Gate and fountain date from 1578. Nearby is an oak, donated by François I and planted in 1538. The castle is today the Fondation Émile Hugues, a modern and contemporary art museum. The cathedral was built in the 4th century on the site of a Roman temple. The stone of the western façade dates from 239. Another, on the right, was engraved in December 220. Other stones in the external walls represent funerary dedications. Also on the western side of the church, the Pierre du Tauroble evokes the cult of Cybele and also the Great mother of the Gods of Mount Ida. A chapel in the cathedral has a mosaic by Marc Chagall, dated 1911. The rue des Portiques is a section of the old Roman road.
The town has a small chapel, up above the Cité Historique Chapelle du Rosaire (1948, completed in 1951), decorated with stained glass and other fittings by Henri Matisse, who owned a home in the village towards the end of his life.
Vence is famous for its spring water, which can be collected from numerous fountains in the town.
