A little piece of heaven! Wonderful hosts, excellent location! Looking forward to going back again next year.
Thanks for your review Rhonda it was a pleasure to have you stay at our cottage. Next year would make it three years in a row, looking forward to hosting you again.
Labour Day Long Weekend Getaway
Had a great long weekend at this cottage. The cottage was comfortable and well maintained and the property itself was fantastic. We especially enjoyed the nice sandy beach and the warm water in the sheltered and secluded bay on Big Caribou Lake. We lucked out on the weather as it was sunny and warm all weekend. Cool nights made for some nice night time fires at the fire pit by the lake and some good sleeps. The public boat launch across the bay was busy, but in no way interfered with our enjoyment of the beach. Had an issue with the neighbour's dogs coming onto the property in the mornings to confront our secured dog , but overall we had a wonderful weekend and would highly recommend this property to anyone. The small town of Port Loring is a ten minute drive away, with an LCBO outlet and Buchanan's Hardware store where you can get gas and basic food items. And don't forget to stop at the Grundy Lake Supply post along the way for good poutine, burgers and ice cream (open seasonally).
Bruce thanks for your candid review. Our property manager Tim commented that you did an A+ job of cleaning the cottage prior to your departure, thanks for taking such good care. Hope you spoke to the neighbour about their wandering dog, I'm not aware that the owners have a dog so I suspect they may have rented our their cottage for the weekend as well.
Looking forward to hosting you again next season.
A great place to chill
Had a great week at the cottage in august. It was exactly as described in the posting and the other reviews. We had great fun in the boats and many hours spent swimming and snorkelling in the lake. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed.
Good place to relax and unwind.
A tiny piece of heaven has been carved out on Big Caribou Lake. The cottage has all the comforts of home yet still has the cottage feel. Loved the deck looking out over the water! Nice sandy beach for the kids to play and beautifully clear water for swimming. It was the most relaxing vacation I've been on which is exactly what I was looking for. Wonderful hosts, can't wait to go back!
So glad you enjoyed a relaxing stay and we were able to share our slice of paradise with you. Hope to host you again next year.
We have just recently come back from our stay at Ron's cottage on Big Caribou Lake. We thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our stay from the completeness of the amenities and the spaciousness of the cottage to the lovely lake setting, gorgeous sunsets and privacy. Swimming was great as was the beach front fire pit. And the BBQ worked great. We also enjoyed exploring the community of Port Loring, its friendly people and the varied menu at Jake's restaurant. The bonus was catching a number of fish and watching the exploits of the loon family and the Great Blue Heron in the bay. Ron, the owner, was extremely helpful in providing all the information we needed to make our stay stress-free. We'd highly recommend his cottage whether you're a couple ( like us), a family, or a larger group.
Thanks Ron - we'll be back next year.
Don and Karin
