Great Location, very nice place with a roof top.
Place is in a great location, just a half a block from La Rambla and is situated "in the middle" of main attractions in Barcelona. Mogens was very easy to communicate and respond quickly to all my messages. Another great addition is a roof top that is shared but each time we were up there we did not see anyone else so it felt private. Place does not have an elevator so keep that in mind because it is a long way up in a narrow hallway. Make sure to bring your own bodywash, shampoo and toilet paper and save yourself a trip down the stairs haha, besides that place has everything you need like cups, utensil and plates. Also, since it is a old building they have to use this grinder to grind toilet paper and stuff and it makes pretty loud noise when you flush or take a shower so keep that in mind as well. I would recommend this place to family and friends just keep in mind everything I mentioned. Thanks and thank you Mogens!
This apartment is located in a great position. Half a block from the Rambla's Blvd, very near La Boqueria Market, the metro, and the water front. The full service market is a bit farther down the blvd from the market. Everything, including good restaurants, is all within a few blocks.
The down side is that the street is a bit busy at night, all night.
The plumbing in the apartment building is very old so the shower/tub would drain very, very slowly so very short showers are required. Also short on hot water.
The apartment itself was comfortable meeting most our needs during our stay.
I do wish that when offering a washing machine that soap would be provided as well as a drying rack.
Clean and well located
Great location close to the heart of Barcelona. Plenty of space for 4 people, roof terrace was nice. Great exercise getting to the apartment (91 steps).
Conveniently located 5th floor walkup with rooftop
The flat was very close to many of Barcelona's attractions and local places to dine. We were within walking distance to the beach, La Rambla, and much much more. The unit is a healthy walk up (5 floors) and offers the comforts of home. I suggest that the owner take some time to repair the bed slats as they had been repaired prior but the fix is loosing hold. Otherwise, we had a great experience.
Thank you for your comments. We were recently in the apartment, but did not discover the problems with slats that you mention. We will of course look at it.
Good Apartment with a BUT
There were a lot of things we really liked about the apartment. The manager was very friendly and helpful and multi-lingual (Spanish, French, English). The location is great. It's at the top of the building so it's lots of stairs, so lots of exercise but then there is a roof terrace which is nice for kicking back in the sun with a glass of wine. The kitchen is well appointed. There is plenty of space. Most of the furniture is quite nice, there were plenty of throw blankets and some extra pillows and things that some places don't have. In general the apartment was quite clean, the building was secure, neighbors friendly. Great proximity to the Barri Gotic, La Rambla, the underground, Mercado de la Boqueria. Heat worked well, and it has nice large windows. It was very, very comfortable... while we were awake.
Unfortunately, the mattresses/beds are awful. If you can sleep like the dead and on anything then I would say this is absolutely a great apartment for you. But if not... you should know that the bed in the master screeches every time you shift and the mattress was not great. My husband abandoned it the first night and eventually ended up on the couch (which was quite comfortable, fortunately). I gave up on the second night and joined our daughter on the other bed in the tiny twin room. This mattress was not great either but at least it was quieter!
A few other notes that we didn't know until shortly before arrival. The toilet has a macerator which runs every time the toilet is flushed, which is fine but very loud. Also, the bathtub can not be filled for baths. This is something we would have liked to know before we booked as we have a young child and we book apartments with bathtubs because she takes baths. The tub also drains very slowly because the water is pumped out.
Lastly, there is washing machine for laundry but no drying rack, which just seems bizarre to me. So if you plan to do your laundry here be prepared to get creative when hanging things up to dry. Knowing what we know now we would book again... if the beds were replaced!
Thank you for your comments. I am happy that you liked the overall comfort and location of the apartment. This is our private vacation home, and we strive to maintain a high standard of the amenities and technical installations - with the constraints given by an old estate in the city centre.
I am sorry you did not like the mattress. Yet, I do not recognize your experience and we have never before had that kind of complaints. Nevertheless, bed preferences is a very individual matter.
I have to decline your last two complaints.
I do not understand why you feel misinformed about the bathtub, as there is no mention of a tub in the advertisement of the apartment. Under bathroom amenities it just says: toilet, shower, bidet. In the detailed information we sent before your arrival, it is highlighted that there is a bathtub, but only for a shower.
Furthermore, I find your comments about laundry drying rather unfair. There are many metres of clotheslines (including pegs/pins) at the second part of the terrace, and this is also mentioned in the detailed information sheet. As a further alternative to fresh air and sun there is a laundromat (both self-service and with service) in the very same building.
Now, I hope this information will also be useful for other potential guests.
Tolle Wohnung in toller Lage
Exceptional location in Barcelona's old town, close to La Rambla and the evocative space, Placa Real. The apartment is located in an old shopping street, which is a mix of fine old shops, small local bars and eateries, but also several fast food and tourist shops. Only a few meters from Antoni Gaudi's impressive building Palau Guell. Walking distance to the harbor and the magnificent beach and the many attractions of Barcelona: art, architecture, shopping, restaurants, bars.
