We live in Nebraska and have always enjoyed vacationing in Colorado, more especially in Buena Vista.
Judy Hassell purchased this chalet in 2001
We are family friends of the Wekesser's and spent time here at their vacation home in the summers, coming from Nebraska. When the opportunity came to purchase it from them, we were excited to be able to continue coming to Colorado to vacation in Buena Vista. We bought it furnished, and have left most of the house as it was when the Wekesser's owned it. The tiles that you see in the house were collected from all over the world in their travels. Even though it was built in the late 60's, it has always been used for just summer vacations, and all the furnishings are still in good condition!
We love the peace and quiet of this area and especially enjoy setting out on the deck and listening to Lost Creek below. There is easy access to the Hot Springs, downtown Buena Vista, Salida, and everything we want to do outdoors while we are here.
Four of us shared this cabin for a week. It's on Mt Princeton, on a quiet road, between Buena Vista and the Hot Springs. From the deck, you hear the sounds of a creek below. Enjoyed the hot tub. It was nice and clean, but everything inside is quite dated from the carpet to the appliances. However when the hair dryer was missing and the toaster failed, the care-taker was immediately responsive. When the fridge failed, they remunerated us for the food. We would guess that would be taken care of by now. In the end, it was a very comfortable week.
We stayed in the Lost Creek Chalet for a week long family vacation. The house was big enough and comfy for all 10 of us who stayed. It was close by to all the attractions we were interested in. So nice to just be able to do everything from here and enjoy the nice patio and enjoy the scenery. The kids had an absolute blast sleeping in the loft and being able to go outside on the little observation deck. They also took advantage of all the games/movies and books that the house offered. The vintage of everything in the house just made it more memorable for us. Enjoyed reading the inserts from all of the other vacationers in the house book :) Make sure to set that out as I know more people probably would have wrote something if they knew about it.
The chalet was perfect for our family of ten. Lots of space and amenities, the deck was great for evening relaxing. We loved the 70's decor and the big bedrooms. Randy took very good care of us when needed. Would definitely recommend this as a perfect base to explore the area. Thank you!!
We had a small family reunion at the Lost Creek Chalet in Buena Vista. The house had 3 bedrooms plus a loft containing 4 more twin beds that was perfect for the kids. The decor was 70's vintage but that just added to the enjoyment. Everything worked as expected. The views were fantastic. The location was centrally located for white water rafting, hot springs, zip lining, hiking and more. Less then 10 minutes from Buena Vista. Will definitely try to stay at this place again.
Lost Creek Chalet is located off of CR 321 (Rodeo Drive) about 20 minutes from Downtown Buena Vista.
