Hello! My name is Denise and I am delighted to welcome you to Independence, Oregon and the Fluke House. Raising 3 kids in this circa 1895 historic home and quaint town brought many joys in the last 20 years. I continue to reside in Independence and am excited to open up the Fluke House to guests. I love and continue to develop the yard and gardens. Guests will be invited to take advantage of the outside seating areas of the home to relax and rejuvenate. I love Oregon and enjoy living in the central Willamette Valley with easy access to the coastal areas, mountains, and cities. At home I enjoy knitting, yoga, and trying new recipes. I look forward to sharing my favorite flavors of Oregon with guests.
Denise Ruscoe purchased this house in 1993
My family chose this charming home so that we could visit with our daughter, a Western Oregon U student, over the Thanksgiving holiday. Jeff and Denise were wonderful, even going the extra mile with route logistics when traffic became an issue. The house was perfect ~ well stocked, cozy, but large. We couldn't have asked for anything more. We will definitely return!
Had a great visit with family living in the area. The house was just what we wanted. Thanks Denise and Jeff. Hope to stay there next time. Bob and Diane and family.
This lovely house still has the feel of a 1905 home, especially the kitchen, which was well-stocked with all the necessities. However, it could use a little freshening up; e.g., replace the hard-water stained coffeemaker and clean/paint the cabinet under the sink. Although the very large downstairs bathroom has a wonderful old clawfoot tub and lots of natural light, the shower could use an update and is very small. The large laundry room was most appreciated. The neighborhood is quiet, and downtown is within easy walking distance and offers many wonderful restaurants and a great bakery, as well as beautiful historical architecture. A very good out-of-the-way place to stay!
One of the most comfortable houses we've stayed in while on vacation. Second time visit and we hope to return again.
Came up from CA for a last minute getaway... knew nothing about Independence other than reading some reviews about it. What a great choice! House was just perfect, everything we needed, comfortable and fantastic location, walking to downtown for happy hour, food etc. Nicely located for wine tasting, beer tasting..anything really. Our hosts were fantastic and friendly, welcoming us and our dogs. We really appreciate homes that let us bring our friends with us! Thanks again.
The Fluke House is first rate! Situated with easy access to Willamette Valley wineries, many Oregon colleges, I almost hate to "share this secret!"
Whether you rent only the first floor, which is huge and perfect for two, or the entire house for up to twelve, you simply cannot beat the quality and comfort. Everything was clean, beds are extra comfortable, towels and kitchen are stocked and equipped well, lots of hot water and space.
Our daughter and her now. husband, attend Western Health Science's Comp Northwest medical school in Lebenon. She and her now husband chose this area for their wedding so classmates. and professors along with family could come. We are so glad she did or we may ever have found you!
We would easily come back and rent either as a family or even just us a two person get away retreat.
Thank you, Denise and family for sharing your amazing family home!
