I wanted to let you know we had a great time in Oahu. The home was great!
This has to be the best possible location to stay on a vacation. The beach is in your back yard! 10 steps to the beach from the back deck! Once on the beach there are beautiful mountains to your right in the background. We only saw a couple of people walk by on the beach every day or two.Very private.
As for the house, it is in good condition. It is not a 5 star hotel but very liveable. The location makes up for what the house is lacking. Could have the walls painted some nicer colors instead of all white and could definitely use some new wash cloths please. Lack of AC was not a problem. I am a hot natured person and I was fine. The strong breeze blowing through the bedroom windows at night with the ocean in the backbround was a joy! Everything else was fine.Clean, no creatures. Cars riding by on the road at night weren't too bad just the ones that sounded like they were speeding! House even had 2 large coolers to use for drinks/ice. I would definitely recommend to anyone. If you found this listing look no further. This is a wonderful place to stay. As we were leaving my wife had to take one last look at the ocean from the deck. She walked back in with tears in her eyes. She didn't want to leave our new found home! It makes me sad everytime I think about this place because I make never get the chance to go back. Come experience heaven on earth! Thanks Larry!
Our family stayed here for 10 nights and had the best family holiday to date. Everything was clean and there is anything you could need. The location on the beach was amazing and the sunrises were picturesque! You could walk down the beach in either direction and almost never run into anyone. Larry was very accommodating and Ellen was very helpful greeting us when we arrived even though we didn't get to the house until 1 am. Location to grocery stores and restaurants was handy and the Polynesian Cultural Centre was very close by. It is about an hour drive to Honolulu. The beach is beautiful and soft right off the back yard.( a little rocky in the water though) our boys had a great time playing on the beach and with the break water further out you don't need to worry about the waves too much. When we come back to the wonderful island with our family we will definitely be getting in touch with Larry!
If you are expecting a 5 star resort...keep looking...if you like a rustic, private beach cottage...then this is the place. The cottage is clean and has every thing you would need. The house does need a little TLC-but one has to realize that being on the windward side of the island can take a toll on houses- the salt air is not kind. The daily breezes through the house are wonderful. It would help if there was a screen on the door to the ocean side...but not a big factor.
We had a hard time leaving...we loved the little yard and went on nightly beach walks. The view is amazing!
This is a great location to go sightseeing- you are not too far from it all but away from the tourist chaos. We visited Pearl Harbor, hiked the Hauula Loop (great views!!), surfed the North Shore, and flew in a powered hang glider (a must do!!!! Use Paradise Air-they are top notch!!!) We had a really hard time leaving this little slice of paradise. Would love to return for longer one day!
Thank you so much for sharing your home with us. It gave us the "bug" to want to move to Hawaii!
Mahalo Nui Larry for sharing your home with us.
I write this review on our las night at Moana Lanui. Perfect perfect for anyone that needs a break! Aunty Ellen greeted us on our first day! Mahalo Aunty! Made us feel like we were friends of the family. We spent 5 days and 4 nights. Came here with my husband and 4 kids. We all had a great relaxing time.
Again Larry we cannot thank you enough for opening your home to us and making the start of our kid's Spring Break something to remember!
We stayed here with our 4 year old and 1 year old. We had stayed for a week and a half in Honolulu. This was an amazing break from the crowds and noise, which we aren't fans of. Our girls loved having some space to play, which they did not have downtown in our tiny condo. The backyard is beautiful and the house is very clean and relaxing. It was rainy and chilly while we were there in February, but we still found fun things to do. We went on a tour at Kualoa Ranch and visited Byodo-In Temple. Both were wonderful. Also, there's a farmer's market inside Windward Mall on Sunday mornings that is worth checking out for the pastries alone.
A nice secluded stretch of beach. When we first read about a house with no a/c, we almosted passed, I'm glad we didn't! We nestled in in the upstairs bedroom, left the windows open, the sound of the waves rolling in as we drifted off and again as we awoke, perfect! Sipped our coffee early in the morning beachside, the view was incedible. The house was cool with high ceilings and fans, very comfortable. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
